Catching Red Eyes

“Who the fuck did this??!” Laurie was screaming at some imaginary person, while I finally caught my breath enough to stop crying.

I was most upset because I felt used and exposed now more than ever. Before it was just
Laurie and I contemplating what had happened to him and now it felt like the whole world had one eye staring into my bedroom window.

I was also so incredibly hurt because this person I had fallen for in a very short amount of time had fallen off the face of my earth. Now pictures and stories were flying all over the internet of us and I didn’t even know if he knew. The only silver lining, if this was even one, was if he did see these pictures it would make him want to talk to me or see me…maybe.

Just then my phone rang. My heart leaped.

“Hello??”

“Row, its Marc. Look, we need to do some damage control. That site that leaked the photos found out that you are our intern and we want to release a statement in your defense.

Anyone else we would probably just fire but we don’t think you should lose your boyfriend and your internship in the same week.”

“Uh…ok…t-thanks. Should I come in?”

“No, sit tight. You probably shouldn’t go anywhere just yet. We are putting a statement out this afternoon online. You’re lucky you’re good at your job but any press is good press.”
Marc hung up. I explained to Laurie what they were doing and she agreed it was for the best.

Of course, Laurie wanted to add in a few explicit things to say about Harry.

I decided to take Marc’s advice and stay in. I fell asleep in the living room with Laurie while watching a movie.

His face come into view but he wasn’t saying anything. He looked scared and worried.

“Harry, what’s wrong? Please, tell me, what’s going on please.”

He didn’t say anything. He just stared at me like he was trying to say something but he couldn’t.

“ROW! Wake up!”

I woke up startled and wondered what was going on, Harry’s worried face burned into my eyelids.

“You were moaning, like you were in pain or something. You ok?”

“Bad dream. I need some air.”

I walked outside into the cold air and took a deep breath. I wrapped my arms around myself and prayed that I would feel normal soon. I was a trooper and this wasn’t the first time my heart was broken. Well, the first I’ve ever been on a gossip website making out with someone. I laughed to myself. It felt ok to laugh considering how sad I had felt lately. I promised myself that today was the last day I was going to be sad. He had no control over me. He wasn’t going to let me hurt anymore.
