Where Do Broken Hearts Go (Sequel to You and I)

Connie’s POV

Evan and I both got into a taxi back to our hotel. I was really tired, so I placed my head on his shoulder.

“You know what’s strange?” Evan said.

“What?” I said.

“During the dinner, Niall kept on glancing over to you.” He said.

I lifted my head off his shoulders with a confused look.I knew he was doing that at dinner, but I didn’t know Evan was paying attention too.

“It doesn’t matter.” I said.

“It doesn’t. But seeing him sometimes makes me feel like I’m going to lose you to him.” Evan said.

I looked at him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

“You aren’t. Don’t think that." I said.

When we got back to the hotel, we were both really tired. Both of us got ready for bed. Evan wrapped his arms around my waist and instantly fell asleep.

I, on the other hand, couldn’t fall asleep. The whole night, I was thinking about what Evan said about Niall always glancing over at me. I thought I was crazy thinking that he was. Apparently, it’s true.

I wonder what’s going on his mind.

Niall’s POV

The whole night I couldn’t sleep at all. I was thinking about Connie the whole time. I don’t know why, but she always on my mind.

I barely got any sleep and today was New Years’ Eve. The boys and I had to do a sound check this morning for the performance happening at night. I got up and went to get ready. I came out of my room and the boys were already ready as well. We all headed downstairs and into the car. Emily was going to meet me at sound check, so we can hang out later.

When we got there, the boys and I were just doing our usual sound check. Fans were already there and wanted to watch us. Emily texted me that she was around the corner. I went to go see if I could find her.

When I saw her, we both hugged each other.

I took her backstage while we were doing sound check.

After sound check, I went backstage to find her.

“Hey, you were great.” She said.

“Thanks.Want to go grab something to eat?” I asked.

“Sounds good.I’m super hungry right now!” She said as she laughed.

We both went to find a local restaurant to grab a bite.

When we got there, we both ordered some food and took our seats at a table. We were just having small conversations, like always. She really knew how to carry on conversations because it was never boring or awkward when talking to her.

“So, what’s your New Years’ resolution?” She asked.

I couldn’t really think of one.“What’s yours first?” I asked.

She took some time to think about it.

“Probably to start fresh. That sounds really stupid, but that’s really it.” She said.

“No, it’s not stupid. I think that’s pretty standard.” I said as I laughed.

She laughed as well.

“Mine would probably be moving on from the past and hope for the best in the future.” I said.

She looked at me and smiled.

We continued our conversation until we had to leave. The boys and I had to get ready for tonight.

I dropped Emily back at her hotel as she was going to come to the performance later. She also wanted to visit her family as well.

Connie’s POV

I was on my computer just trying to do some preparations for next semester. I’m kind of a nerd.

All of a sudden, someone wrapped their arms around me.

“You’re such a nerd! Just because we got our school schedule.” Evan said.

“Hey, I want to learn some of the material, so going into the class, I’ll have some knowledge on some things.” I said.

“Are you excited for tonight? We get to go to Times Square and countdown to a new year!” Evan said.

I turned to him and smiled.

“I’m pretty excited!” I said.

“But if we are going to make it to Times Square, let me finish my school preparations.” I said as I laughed.

Evan laughed as well.

It was around 10 p.m. at night. Evan and I were getting ready to go to Times Square.

When we finished getting ready, we went downstairs to the hotel lobby and walked out of the hotel.

We hopped into a taxi and headed to times square.

When we got there, there were so many people outside. The performances were already starting. Evan and I didn’t know where to go because it was all scattered all over the place.

We just walked around for a bit. We even stopped by a coffee place to get some coffee because it was super cold that night.



Niall’s POV

We were backstage getting ready to perform. We were the last performer, so when we were done performing, they would start the countdown.

It was our turn to finally perform. The boys and I have been doing this for years, but I still get nervous from time-to-time. I mean, there’s a lot of people in Times Square right now. Bernice, Perrie, Connie, Evan and Emily were in the front row because we asked Paul to put them there.

We got onto stage and started performing. It didn’t take me that long to find where they were. I saw Emily and she was smiling at me. I smiled back.

When I saw Connie, we made sort of awkward eye contact as I quickly turned my attention back to the audience.

We performed around four songs and by then, it was almost midnight.

“So, guys! How are you feeling?! It’s almost a New Year!” Louis screamed.

The audience started screaming and applauding.

“So we’re going to do a countdown in about a minute!” Liam said.

The boys put their microphones down and they went to the side of their stage. Of course they wanted to celebrate it with their special someone and get a New Years’ kiss. I walked to the side of the stage with them.

All of a sudden, there was a countdown on the television.

“10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! HAPPY NEW YEARS!” Everyone screamed.

I looked over at the boys with the girls. They were all so happy celebrating a new year together.

I glanced over at Connie with Evan.Evan and Connie shared a passionate kiss. They were both smiling at each other and Evan had his arms wrapped around her waist. My heart seemed like it fell to the floor. Seeing them together really hurt.I tried so hard to get over my feelings with Connie and but she always appears right back in my thoughts.

I walked out of the crowd and onto a street. Emily noticed that I seemed a bit sad, so she followed me.

“Hey Niall, you alright?” She asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine.Happy New Years by the way.” I said in a low tone of voice.

“Happy New Years to you too. But it doesn’t seem that happy for you.” She said.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” I said.

We walked for a bit in silence.

“Do you miss her?” Emily asked.

I stopped walking and looked at her with a confused face.

“What?” I said.

“Connie. Do you miss her?” She asked.

“I…” I said.

“You don’t have to tell me, but I know you do miss her. I knew you guys dated before. I saw the way you looked at her at the dinner table. Also, when Evan and Connie kissed just right now, you seemed really hurt. Listen, I don’t know the reason why you guys broke up, but I know for a fact that you can’t over her.” She said.

And she was right. I couldn’t get over Connie.

“When we started to hang out, I actually developed feelings for you. I thought that you were over Connie until I saw how you looked at her yesterday at the dinner table.” She said.

“I’m sorry Emily.” I said.

“No worries, I understand. I’ve been in that kind of situation.” She said.

“I’m really sorry.” I said.I feel so bad.

“Niall, don’t apologize. It’s okay. I’m going to go now though.” She said as she smiled.

She was about to walk away when I called out her name.

She turned around. I walked up to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

“Happy New Years.Hope to see you soon.” I said as I smiled.

She smiled back and left in the other direction.
