Where Do Broken Hearts Go (Sequel to You and I)

Niall’s POV

I got onto the airplane and was heading back home for Christmas. I was looking out at the window as the plane took off. Slowly, I started to close my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

All of a sudden, someone was tugging on my shoulders. I woke up and saw a flight attendant.
“Sir, the plan just landed.”She said.

My eyes were fully opened as I got up and headed out to the terminal. Paul told me that there was going to be security guards waiting to escort me to my car. Of course, there were fans. I mean, it’s pretty obvious that I would come back home to spend Christmas with my family.

The fans were screaming as I waved to them and got into my car. When I got in, it suddenly got really quiet, which I liked. However, it only lasts for so long until my thoughts interfere with the peace. Going back home reminded me of the time I brought Connie to Ireland to meet my family. They really loved her, honestly. Sometimes even when my mom called, she would ask me how she was doing.

My thoughts were interrupted when my phone vibrated.It was a text from Emily:

Merry Soon-To-Be Christmas Niall! Hope you had a safe flight :)

Today was Christmas Eve by the way. I smiled at her text. She was so lame.I texted her back to tell her Merry Christmas as well.

Emily and I have been talking a lot since the day I met her. Honestly, she was a really cool and sweet girl. My feelings are everywhere right now, to be honest. I really don’t know if I’m ready to move on.

The car finally stopped in front of my house. I opened the door and grabbed my bags from the trunk. I walked up to the door and right when I was about to knock, I see my mom with a big smile on her face.

“NIALL!” She said as she came to hug and kiss me.

“Hi, mom! I missed you too.” I said as I laughed.

“I’m so happy you’re home.”

My mom helped me bring my bags into my room. When I saw my bed, I flopped on it.

“It feels so good to be back.” I said.

“Come on, dinner’s already made. Your brother and Denise are coming over soon as well. They have some news to tell us.” My mom said.

Denise was my brother’s girlfriend. I went downstairs and I could immediately smell the food. Mom always was the best cook.I saw my dad in the kitchen and ran to give him a big hug. I loved my dad.

“It’s great to see you again, Niall!” He said as he patted by back.

We all went to sit down for dinner. My parents and I were just having small conversations about how tour has been and everything’s that has been going on.

“Has Connie been doing alright? We missed her.” My mom asked.

“She’s doing great. Really happy right now.” I said as I looked down at my food.

I could tell my mom saw that I looked upset. She went to reach for my hand and gave it a comforting squeeze.

All of a sudden, the doorbell rang.I walked up to the door and opened it.

“Niall! It’s so great to see you!” Denise said as she gave me a hug.

“It’s great to see you too!” I said.

My brother came in and leaned in for a hug.“What’s up, brother!” He said.

I laughed. “Hey, Greg!” I said.

We all went to the dinner table. Mom and Dad both hugged Greg and Denise. When we all sat down, we just had small conversations here and there.

“So Greg, what’s the big news you have to tell us?” Dad said.

“Well, we wanted to tell you guys a couple of weeks ago, but now it’s the right time… Denise and I are engaged.” He said.

We were all so surprised! My dad’s eyes were wide opened and he couldn’t help but smile.

“That’s amazing news! Congratulations guys!” My mom said as she went to kiss both of them on the cheek.

We all had our round of hugs until we finally sat back down.

“So, we were planning to getting married as soon as possible. We were thinking probably in the spring time.” Greg said.

All of a sudden, he turned to me and said, “Niall, I want you to be my best man.” He said as he smiled.

I was so shocked. “Of course I will be!” I said. I sounded a bit too excited.

Denise laughed.“That was the first thing he thought of when he proposed as well!”

After dinner, Denise and my parents were in the kitchen chatting. Greg and I were outside in the patio sitting down.

“I’m really happy for you, Greg.” I said.

“Thanks Niall.It’s going to me congratulating you one day as well.” He said.

I smiled at him.

“How are things going?” He asked.

“Things have been such a roller coaster this past year.I mean, with tour and everything with the boys and…” I said as I stopped for a bit.

“It’s alright, Niall.I know things have been hard for you with Connie.But everything’s going to be alright.” He said.

I told him everything that had happened already. My brother and I were really close. I could basically tell him anything.

“I guess it’s not the best idea then.” He whispered to himself.

“What’s not the best idea?” I asked.

“I was going to invite Connie to the wedding.But since all of this happened-” He said as I interrupted him.

“This is your wedding and I don’t mind.”I said.I totally did.

“Are you sure?” He asked.

“Yeah.” I said as I put on a forced smile.

Connie’s POV

Today was Christmas Eve. Evan and his parents were coming over to have dinner at my house.I went upstairs to my room to get ready. I put on a little makeup and went to my closet to find something to wear. I picked out a maroon skirt and a simple white top with a black blazer. Afterwards, I went to my jewelry box to find a necklace.I was searching for a necklace when I came across the one Niall had given me. I slowly took it out and just stared it. It just brought back so many memories. I snapped out of it and kept on looking for a necklace.

All of a sudden, the doorbell rang.I went downstairs and opened it.

“Hey Connie.” Evan said as he kissed my cheek.
“Connie, you look lovely today.” Evan’s mom said as she kissed my cheek.

His dad leaned in and hugged me as well.

I smiled at both of them and led them to the kitchen. My parents and his parents greeted each other.I was about to join in the conversation when Evan pulled me into the living room.

“Merry Christmas Eve.” Evan said as he wrapped his arms around my waist.

“Merry Christmas Eve to you too.” I said

I smiled and kissed him on the lips.

“I have a present for you.” I said.

I grabbed his hand and led him to my room. When we got upstairs, I took something under my bed. It was a small box wrapped in this really nice red wrapping paper with a green bow on it.

I handed it to Evan as he tried to open the gift.When he opened it, it was a watch that he always wanted.

“Connie, you didn’t have to.” Evan said as he was so shocked.

“No, but I wanted to. I remember you were looking at that watch on the display case of a window.” I said.

“Yeah, but this is super expensive!” He said.

“Don’t worry about it.I’m glad you liked it.” I said.

“Thank you.” He kissed me on the lips.

“Stay here! I have something for you as well.” He left and went downstairs.

Soon later, he came back with a small rectangle box in his hand.

“You didn’t think I didn’t get you anything did you?” He said.

“You were always full of surprises.” I said.

I opened the box and it was a pretty necklace with my name on it.

“Oh my gosh, I love it Evan! It’s so pretty!” I said as I kissed his cheek.

“I remember you seeing this in the display case and saying it was really pretty.” Evan said.

“I guess we are really good at remembering things about each other.” I said.

He smiled and started to laugh.

“What’s so funny?” I said with a confused look.

“Look under the box.” He said.

I looked under the box. They were two plane tickets to New York.

I looked at him, surprised.

“Well, you always wanted to spend New Years’ Eve at New York, so why not this year… with me?” He said as he smiled.

I smiled at him.I leaned in and we both shared a passionate kiss.

When we both pulled away, we both leaned in for a long hug.

NOTE: Surprise! So I feel bad. I haven't written in so long. So for seven days straight, I'm going to post at least one chapter a day... maybe two. I already pre-written some chapters and I think you guys will be surprised with what happens later on. For now, enjoy this one! :)
