*Mackenzie’s POV (Morning, Wednesday the 21st)

I wake up at 8:00am next to Niall. He’s so cute when he’s sleeping. I hate to leave the bed, but I am so hungry! I get up and go downstairs to the kitchen. I find Emily sitting at the table staring off. I wave my hand in front of her face and nothing. “Emily?” She snaps out of it. “Sorry, Kenzie. Just have a lot on my mind at the moment.” “C’mon, let’s talk.” I say taking her to the couch. We sit and I take her hands. “What’s up? Did something happen last night?” I ask.

“Oh yeah. Three things. Three big things.” she answers, “One, Zayn and I told each other “I love you” for the first time.” “Oh my gosh congratulations!! Now we’re both in love!” I cheer. “Two, Zayn and I slept in the same bed together for the first time…and three, that wasn’t the only first time I experienced last night.” She looks down and I realize what she means. “…No...you did not. You and Zayn had sex?!?!?” I shout a little too loud. “Could you be a little louder, please? I don’t think the next block heard you!” She whispers.

“Sorry! But oh gosh…how was it? Did it hurt?” I question. “It was amazing. It actually didn’t hurt at all. Maybe it should’ve, but I was enjoying it too much to feel any pain.” she says with a small smile. “But wait…why are you asking me? Haven’t you and Niall…you and Niall haven’t had sex yet, have you?” she asks. “No we haven’t. I’ve been too scared to. Not really because of the potential pain, but because I don’t want to unless I feel like he’s the one. Unless he and I get married some day.” I say.

“I guess that’s a good plan.” she says still looking worried. “Hold on, if you’re happy you had sex with Zayn, then why do you seem like there’s something wrong?” I ask. “The thing is, it was a last minute thing. We didn’t plan or prepare for it. So…” No. “…he didn’t have a condom on?” I finish. She slowly shakes her head. “Okay, I am driving you to the drug store right now to get you a pregnancy test. We cannot risk this. If you had a baby, it would change everything you and Zayn have been working for.” She knows I’m right.

We go to the store and get the test, then sneak back in the house keeping an eye out for the boys. We tiptoe to the bathroom escaping them and Savannah does the test. The waiting time before the result is torture. “What are you girls doing in there?” Niall asks knocking on the door.

“Um…nothing. Just…talking. What are you boys doing out there?” I ask panicked. “Zayn went to the studio to meet with his producers. It’s just me here.” he says. I look to Emily for an approving look before I let Niall into the bathroom. “What’s going on in here?” he asks. I let Emily tell him.

“Well for both of your sakes, I hope it’s negative. Mackenzie’s right. A baby is the worst thing that could happen to you two right now.” Niall says. The test beeps and we all jump. Emily carefully picks up the test and looks at the screen. Niall and I are holding our breath and holding hands. She looks at the test for a few seconds before saying, “It’s negative. I’m not pregnant.”

“Oh thank goodness!” I say hugging her. “C’mon, let’s go out to lunch and celebrate.” Niall says, “My treat!” We go out to eat at Red Lobster. We have a great time, but something seems off about Emily the whole time. I wait until we get home again to find out what’s what.

We get in the house and Niall goes up to the bedroom to take a nap. Zayn still isn’t home so I talk to her in the living room again. “Are you sure you’re okay?” I ask her. “Yeah I’m fine.” she says looking at the floor. She’s straight up lying. “No you’re not. Tell me now. I’m worried.”

“I’m just worried about Zayn. I haven’t told him about me being worried about not using protection or that I immediately took a pregnancy test. I don’t want him to get the wrong idea and think that I never want kids, because I know he does. I do too, just not right now.”

“You just have to tell him, girl. If he starts to get the wrong idea, correct him. It’s not like you’re gonna get into a huge fight over this. If you do, he’s an idiot. But from what you’ve told me about him and what I’ve seen since he’s been here, I think he’ll be perfectly understanding.” I say giving her a hug. “Okay. Thanks, Kenzie.” Zayn walks in and I whisper, “Go, you got this.” She goes up to Zayn and asks him if they can talk.

Lord, that isn’t what you say to a guy. That sounds like a break up. They go into the kitchen and I run to the door to press my ear against it. I have to know what’s going on! “So…did it cross your mind at all that we didn’t use protection last night?” Emily asks him. “Not until this morning. Did you take a test?” he asks. “Actually I did this morning. It was negative.” she answers. “Good, we can’t have a baby right now. Our careers are barely taking off.” he says. Yes!

“But…you would wanna have a baby some day right?” he asks her. “Yeah definitely. Just not now.” I hear her say. “Kenzie will be thrilled to hear this. Niall too. They both think it’s bad timing to have a kid.” she says a little louder. Thanks for ratting us out. “Hey did you know that her and Niall—“I burst through the door. “Don’t tell him that!” I shout. She just starts laughing. “I wasn’t really gonna tell him. I knew you were listening in and wanted to catch you.” I stick my tongue out at her. “Tell me what?” Zayn asks.

“Not important. C’mon, tell me about your day. How did the production meeting go?” Emily asks getting a drink. I sit down at the island and check my phone. “Good. We start recording the vocals next week.” he says. I check my calendar. “I listened to the music and it sounds just how I imagined it. Great job, babe.” Zayn says. “Thanks, sweetie. I knew you’d love it. So when do we have to have the vocals done by?” Emily asks. “November 1st.” Zayn says just as I look at that day on my phone. …My album has to be fully written by then too.
