My Sisters Bucket list
Introduction
My sister Periwinkle, or Perrie as she had people call her, was 12 when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. It was a ruff 16 months. When we learned what the chances of her recovery were she decided that she wanted to make a bucket list of all the things she wanted to do before her time came. Some of the things were easy, like taking an art class at the local community center, or making a dress. Others were not so simple. Number 13 on the list was meet One Direction, the world renown British boy band. If you know Perrie you knew that of all the things on the list this was the one she knew couldn’t happen but wanted more then anything to happen (well maybe not anything, but just about). Or Pet a tiger, which is not only hard but also dangerous. I helped her check some of the things off the list, but most of them were just too far out of reach. This is what the list looked like when she died:
- Take an art class at the local community center
- Make my very own dress
- Have a sleepover with my friends (We would sleep in a tent in the backyard)
- Make dinner (By myself)
- Graduate from Middle School
- Get a boyfriend
- Write a book
- Save a life
- Paint my room blue
- Come up with a million dollar idea for a sandwich
- Pet a Tiger
- See a One Direction concert
- Meet One Direction
Even though it wouldn’t be the same, I wanted to finish the list, for my sister. I feel like I owe it to her. She told me that she wanted to donate her liver, because it was one of the few things that was totally ok. I convinced the my parents and the doctors that this is what she wanted and now a healthy little boy has Perrie's liver.
