Moving To England

Chapter Sixty-One

*Destiny’s POV*

“Momma! I’m home!” I cried, before walking upstairs to my bedroom with Ally.

“What do you want to do before the other losers come?” Ally asked me, jumping onto my couch.

“How about sleeping? That seems like a perfect idea.” I yawn, collapsing onto my bed.

“No way! No sleeping tonight.” Ally demanded, jumping onto the bed next to me.

“Why?” I whined.

“Because I said so.” June smiled deviously.

“Alright then, Miss I-Said-So, what do you want to do other than sleeping?”

“Mhmm, we are staying here tonight, so why not set up a tent, and get all the food, movies, and games ready for this evening?”

“Doesn’t sound half as bad. I’ll get the food, you start on the tent. Yeah?”

“Okay,” Ally nodded.

“Great!” I smiled, making my way downstairs. Reaching the bottom, I was about to make my way into the kitchen when I noticed my lonely couch in the living. For several long minutes, I debated whether or not I should go and collapse onto my couch, or get the food like I told Ally.

Giving into my tiredness, I rushed to the couch, and immediately fell fast asleep.

*Ally’s POV*

Almost, finished building the blanket fort, Destiny still hadn’t shown up with the food. I added a few more touched to the fort before going down to the kitchen to check on Destiny.

Just before I was about to enter the kitchen, noticed a lump decorated in the colour of our uniform on the couch.

“Destiny?” I called out.

“I’m awake! I’m wake! I was just looking for the food – Ahh!” Destiny cried out, before crashing to the ground. As she struggled to get back up, I burst into immediate laughter. I was laughing so hard, I could help her back up.

“Oh leave me alone. I’m super tired! And now hurt,” She pouted.

“Do I did to call Harry to kiss you boo-boo better?” I continued to laugh. Quickly Destiny nodded, still frowning. “Come on, the girls should be here soon.”

While we were in the kitchen gathering a bunch of food to take upstairs, there was a rapping sound against the front door. The rest of the girls had finally arrived. Taking the food, we all went up to Destiny’s bedroom.

“You girls are going to that grade 11 trip, to where was it?” Mabel asked.

“Some hiking thing, I think,” June answered.

“I’m going. I’m pretty sure all the grade 11s are.” Elizabeth added.

“Yeah, I want to go too,” Destiny added.

“So we are all going, right? ‘Cause it won’t be much fun then.” I say.

“Of course.” Mabel nods.

For the rest of the time, the girls and I bounced remarks between ourselves, like a kid’s rubber ball. We were never sure if we really got wittier as the evening wore on or if it was just the effect of the sugar making everything seem so much funnier.

By 5, we all started to get dressed for the fair.

I pulled on a light green Mandala Tank-Top, with cream-coloured Jeggings. Spilling into my Black/White Adidas Original Superstar Sneakers, I tied my hair into a high bun, securing it with a lime green bow at the back.

Mabel threw on her favourite blue Off-Shoulder Bell Lace top and black Saint Laurent Leggings. Pulling on a choker necklace, she dressed her arm in a nude-coloured bracelet and added a nude coloured liquid lipstick. Tying her hair into a high bun, allowing a few loose strands in the front, she added a Bow Out Velvet Headband. Finally, she spilt into her black and white All-Star Converse sneakers.

Elizabeth pulled on a pink drop shoulder cut out, crop t-shirt, matched with a pair of Burberry skinny low-rise jeans and Reebok Pink Pastels Leather sneakers. She tied her hair up in a large messy bun.

June wore a sleeveless silk blouse, with a crochet cardigan, long slim-fit trousers and black Nike sneakers. She tied her hair into two braids that were tied into two small buns, and the rest of her hair loose.

Destiny wiggled into a Boohoo Lead Textured Box Pleat Skater Skirt and a Miss Selfridge Pink Venice Beach T-shirt. Letting her short hair loose, she pulled on a pair of white high top Converse Sneakers.

*Destiny’s POV*

Applying a light layer of makeup, we exited the house, with our backpacks filled with a little bit of junk food, water, money, and anything else we might need.

“Today is going to be so much!” Mabel squealed excitedly.

“I know right!” June nodded in agreement, as the five of us walked down the street to where the fair was being held. We could smell the sweetness of the kettle corn being popped off to the right, and hear the sizzling of fresh corn being barbequed. The place was lit with so many bright colours and lights.

“Jeez, this place hasn’t looked this alive in forever!” Elizabeth says in awe. The colourful costumes, energetic music, bright lights and all the happy and laughing faces brightened up the entire neighbourhood.

“The boys won’t be here for like another hour. Let’s do whatever we can until then.” Ally cried in sheer joy. The boys had a football (soccer) practice, after school until 6, so they were probably washing up at home right now.

“Face painting!” I declared, pointing to the face painting station.

“Yes! The line isn’t too long right now, either,” Elizabeth happily agreed. Racing towards the station, we got the lovely women to draw colourful designs on our faces.

Afterwards, we all compared at laughed over the designed we got, as we took several photos. I got a cute little white butterfly, with colourful wings painted next to my eye.

Ally got three stars painted along the side of her face, along with small designs around her eye.

The face painting lady drew large black swirls and feathers around Mabel’s eye, adding pink and yellow shades.

Elizabeth got a curved line of tiny white and pink flowers painted on her, starting at the end of her eye.

The lovely lady doing June’s face painting painted intricate swirls of dark lines around her eye and eyebrow, and purple details on her eyelid, as well as the design.

“Oh my god! We look so hot!” Ally laughed.

“Oh! Do you smell that?” I dazed off, getting caught off-guard by a sweet aroma.

“Cotton Candy!” Mabel and Elizabeth cheer in unison. Paying 1.25 pounds for 5 cotton candy sticks we travelled through the rest of the fair, laughing and talking. We were surrounded by screams, laughing, machine sounds, babies crying, and lots of conversation, all were filled with pure happiness.

As we roamed the grounds, we picked out several of the towering rides that we were going to go on, once the boys had finally arrived.

“Oh my gosh, remember us being just like those children,” June giggled, motioning her head to the cute little kids begging their parents for money so they could go buy tickets for the rides.

“Look over there! Those boys are competing for each other to win the biggest stuffed teddy bear for their girl.” Mabel smiled, pointing at the large group of teens.

“Let’s go play at one of those booths,” I suggested, excitedly, too impatient to wait for the boys. We challenged each other to get their highest points and scores.

*Harry’s POV*

“Guys, we should get going! They’ll start asking why we’re taking so long.” Liam insisted as we added the finishing touches to the prank we were going to pull on the girls.

“Oh hush, Liam. We’ll make it. Maybe not on time, but soon,” Niall assured him.

“Fine, but I’m going to text Ally. Just going to tell her practice ended later than usual,” Liam declared, as he spilt out his phone.

“Yeah whatever,” Niall laughed.

“Wait. Some explain this prank to me again. I’m so lost. What are we actually doing?” Zayn asked, probably for the 100th time today.

“Zayn! Man, we’ve repeated it at least 100 times.” I demanded.

“But, one more time?” Zayn pleaded. Liam shot him an ‘Are you serious?’ look. “Please.”

“It's actually straightforward, Zayn. We’re going to find a way to scare them, and then throw a pie in their faces,” Louis sighed.

“We each have a different scary mask,” I say.

“And pie,” Niall added.

“Got it?” Liam angrily groaned at him.

“Yes sir,” Zayn says, as we gathered out things and started for the fair.

Walking towards the fairgrounds was a thrill itself. This night was set for fun. All the excitement, growing with each step. The afternoon/evening was cold but dry, a perfect setting for a great night out! The fair wasn’t visible until we made an over the corner, our expectation was high for this year’s fundraiser show.

Just as we arrived, our first sight was the huge, colourful Ferris Wheel on the big field at the end of the neighbourhood.

“How’d they get that big thing here!” Louis exclaimed, astonished.

“Who cares? It’s incredible.” Liam commented as we all stared up at the big ride. It shone like a circle of diamonds in the sky, bright and vivid. The big field was littered with several other rides, bouncy castles and several game booths.

“Oh god, do you smell those?” Niall dazed off, happily. We were hit by a glorious aroma, as we eyed the mingling of frying hotdogs, burgers, fried onions, candyfloss, toffee apples, cotton candy and so much more!

“Damn, they went all out, on this fair!” I say amazed.

The lights, sounds and smells took us in. Even the air felt electric as if it were alive and urging us to take part. And take part is definitely what we were going to do!

“Let’s find the girls and get on with the prank,” Zayn smirked deviously, putting on his mask and getting his mask ready.

“Yes! Let the evening of fun being!” Louis cheered, as we all put on the masks and searched for the girls.

“There!” Louis pointed over to where the girls were standing to play at the “Whack-a-mole” game.

“Ready?” I questioned the boys. Everyone nodded, as we begun to creep over towards them.

The person in charge of the booth noticed us and looked a little scared. Niall put his finger on his lip, to quietly tell her not to say anything. Then, on the count of three, we each gently tapped on the shoulders of our girlfriends, trying to get their attention. Immediately as they all turned around they let out a terrifying scream, seconds afterwards we each mashed the pie into their faces.

“ARGH!” They all cried, in disgust trying to wipe of the wipe of their faces. Trying to suppress our laughs, we all ended up bursting into loud laughter, as we pulled off our masks.

“Harry!” Destiny cried, angrily, as she was the first to wipe off the pie’s cream off her face.

“What?” I choked out, still laughing controllably.

“What? You know exactly what! Look at us!” Mabel groaned loudly.

“Us! We didn’t do anything it was those scary monsters! We chased them away for you girls!” Liam says, defensively, as he tried to suppress his laughs.

“Oh really?” Ally glared at him, snatching the mask that was sticking out from his back pocket. “Then, what is this?”

“Oh my gosh? How’d that get there?” Liam exclaimed, acting speechless.

“Excuse me, may we borrow theses?” Mabel asks the booth lady, as each of the girls took the whacking tool off the booth counter.

“Shoot.” The last word we managed to shot out, before our untimely death.

Immediately the girls began to beat us with the cushion hammers. After a while of being tortured by the hammers, I managed to grab Destiny’s waist, where I immediately turned her around. Holding her close to me, I seized the hammer from and her and returned it to the booth lady, where I, then, began to tickle the living death out of her.

Destiny erupted into a fit of giggles, as she struggled to break free from my tight grasp. After torturing everything out of each other, we all calmed down before we started travelling around the fair, in a big group.

“Oh yeah. I meant to ask, what happened to your faces?” Louis questioned the girls, laughing a bit.

“Face painting,” Elizabeth proudly said.

“Well, they look adorable,” Liam laughed.

“I want my face painted too!” Niall exclaimed.

“Same! Let’s go!” Zayn shouted as he and Niall raced to the face painting booth.

“Oh, we’re you, boys, planning on getting your faces painted?” one of the face-painting ladies asked.

“Yeah.” Zayn nodded, excitedly.

“Well, we were just going to on a break and check out the fair, but you girls can go wild on their faces. Just take of the booth for us while we go, yeah?”

“Yes!” June declared, happily sitting Niall in front of her.

“No,” Niall sighed, chuckling.

Immediately, the girls got to work on our faces. The entire time Destiny painted away on my face, I couldn’t help but trace the lines on her face with my eyes. ‘Beautiful,’ I thought, ‘No. Perfect.’

“Harry, close your eyes,” She says, gently holding my face. Her hands were so smooth and soft against my skin. The paint brush skimmed over my face, with a cold touch.

“Done,” Destiny giggled, “You can open your eyes now.”

“No,” I refused.

“What? Why?” Destiny asked.

“Nope,” I merely say, shaking my head as I continued to keep my eyes shut.

“Fine. Stay here with you eyes closed,” Destiny laughed.

“Okay,” I shrugged, waiting for her to kiss me.

For a few moments, everything went quiet, as I continued to keep my eyes shut. My friends began to whisper around, which then let to a pull pie smashed into my face.

“Argh!” I yelped, startled, as I jumped out of my seat. An eruption of laughter broke immediately around me.

“I love you,” Destiny laughed, cupping my pie filled face and kissing me. Suddenly a bucket, full of cold water, dropped on top of us, causing us to break apart, startled, cold and wet.

“Guys!” Destiny cried, drenched. Shivering, I sent death glares at the boys who were all dying of laughter, as were the girls. Seeing our current state, Destiny and I begun to join in on the laughter.

*Destiny’s POV*

Retreating home, Harry and I changed out of the wet, sticking clothes, before rejoining the group, who were waiting for us near the stage area.

The fair was being held down the entire road of the neighbourhood, so all the other roads that were connected to it were blocked off. There were huge crowds of cars parked don either end. There was even a parking lot set off on the large field at each end of the road.

In the centre of the road, a staging area was set up, where dancing, and musical performances were being held. At the moment, they opened up the stage for karaoke singing and dancing.

“I want to dance!” I blurted out, suddenly, as we were all gathered in the audience. “Ah! I know the perfect song! Stay here.”

“What …?” I heard Harry question with a half smirk, as I begun to run away from them over to the stage area.

“Play this song, will you please,” I asked the DJ, handing him a piece of paper with the name of the song and artist.

“Jeez. A Spanish song. You going to sing it or dance it?” The DJ smiled at me, it was Aaron.

“Both - Aaron? You can DJ!” I asked, astonished.

“Yeah! And you sing and dance. So, go do your thing! I’ll sing you the male vocals, yeah?” Aaron laughed, gently pushing me onto the stage.

“Yeah! Thanks.” I smiled happily. I took my position as the music begun to play.

“Everyone give it up for, Destiny Baker! Who is going to sing you, and dance, Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira.” Aaron exclaimed through the microphone, as the crowd erupted with cheers and applauses.

Music filled the air without effort, like the waves filling holes in the beach sand; the sound rushing in and around every one person in sight. Everyone in the audience reacted excitedly to the beat. I sang along with the beat, as the lyrics swam through my cerebral cortex like a wakeful dream, the notes exciting everyone. I danced to the rhythm, causing me to receive several cheers and applauses.

As I sung and danced away, Aaron’s singing makes me giggle a bit. When my eyes feel on my friends, I could see their faces struck with astonishment.

Ending my extremely extra karaoke performance, I was greeted with several whistles, and hollers from the audience. The crowd burst into thunderous applause. Cheers and hollers of encouragement exclaimed throughout the crowd.

With smiles and laughter, I bowed on the stage, accepting the excitement, before returning to my friends in the group.

“You can belly dance, so damn well, yet you won’t have sex?” Harry questioned me with a smirk.

“Of course!” I laughed.

“That was actually pretty awesome!” Niall added.

“Yeah! Everyone loved you!” June continued.

“Aww man I haven’t danced like that in a long time, it was fun,” I laughed, smiling brightly.

*Harry’s POV*

Feeling so light and free, we ran up and down the road, as we continued to journey through the fair. We tried out everything. Even managing to get the bouncy castle people to allow us into the bouncy castles. Laughing and smiling, all of the world's problems were lifted, and everyone seemed to be ignoring the rest of the world, having all the fun they could have in one night. As nightfall came upon us, cheerful sounds were continuing to pour into the air, brightly colour lights were lighting up the clouds making them seem somehow unearthly and weird. Tonight, was the time of our lives!

After getting off the Ferris Wheel, we laughed as we noticed a pair of overweight women, arm-in-arm eating giant fluffs of cotton candy as they strolled along the sidewalk.

There was a glare of illumination and cries of joy from the booths housing shooting galleries. At the end of the street, we found a fortune teller’s booth.

“Let’s go try that thing out!” Elizabeth exclaimed, in glee.

“Alright.” Louis nodded, as we all entered the Fortune teller’s tent, paying at the entrance.

“Hi.” Liam greeted the Fortune Teller on everyone’s behalf.

“Hello, children. I see you are here for a reading of your future. Yes?” the Fortune teller asked.

“Yeah.” Louis laughed a bit.

“A group reading, though.” Mabel quickly added.

“Okay. Sit. Sit.” The lady insisted, motioning us to sit on the ten seats these male characters brought out for us. We had thanked them before they disappeared.

“Now give me your palms.” She commanded. We each put in the centre, near the Crystal ball.

“Hold hands.” She demanded. Without warning, the unnamed Fortune Teller grabbed on to Destiny’s hand tightly, startling her. Wincing at the pain, she gently held on to mine. Soon, circled around the small table we were all holding hands, as directed by the Fortune Teller.

With her free hand, the Fortune Teller grasped the Crystal ball, shutting her eyes tight, as she murmured unclear words, quickly. The ten of us exchanged looks, confused, as we tried to hide our laughter at how ridiculous the Fortune Teller looked.

“Your future holds great danger. Great trouble follows you. Great pain and heartache! Locked away, you will be, in a cold and ruthless room with your worst enemies!” The Fortune Teller hollers in an eerie voice. Suddenly, startling and frightening us, all the lights began to flick, which was accompanied with alarming whispers and creepy echoing sounds, as the tent shook violently.

Destiny began to grasp my hand tightly, as fear started to brew within her, the Fortune Teller’s words began to make me increasingly angry.

“What is this bullshit!” I furiously demanded, letting go of Destiny’s and Liam’s hand, causing to break the chain. I got up, furious. Immediately, all the unnerving events stopped. “This is all fake! You best end this nonsense. We didn’t ask to come to some stupid haunted house. We are leaving!”

I grabbed hold of Destiny’s hand, as I tried to pull her out of the tent, but the Teller tightened her grip on Destiny.

“How dare you insult me!” The teller howled at me, as she continued to tighten her grip on Destiny, who was beginning to cry at the pain. Immediately, the eerie noises, whispers and sounds came back. The entire tent began to shake furious, again, causing Mabel and June to scream in fear. A powerful, cold gust of wind flew through the tent.

“ARGH!” Destiny cried in pain.

“Stop that! You’re hurting her!” Ally cried, clingily to Liam who was equally terrified.

“Because of Harry’s ill-mannered behaviour, I shall put a curse on this Destiny Baker. A trail of great misfortunate events to fall upon you when you least expect it. Events that will lead to your untimely death! Allowing only true love to break you from this faith!” The teller howled.

Immediately, as the Teller released hr grip on Destiny everything went calm, and we were kicked out of the tent.

“Argh …” Destiny cried.

“Oh my god! Your wrist!” I exclaimed, alarmed.

“It's bleeding! How hard did she hold you?” Mabel cried.

“I don’t know. It hurts so much,” Destiny sobbed, resting her head against my shoulder, holding her wrist gently. Immediately Zayn brought over the security and paramedics that were on the fair set.

We explained everything that had happened with the Fortune Teller, as the paramedics aided Destiny’s bruised wrist.

“Don’t worry son. We will take care of this.” The security guard ensured me. Immediately, the Fortune Teller booth was shut down. She and her group were escorted off the premises. Before she left, she shot me an evil smirk, as to say, despite everything she still won.
