Without having the time to answer the maid, I climbed down the stairs in a little speed. What could he want after all this time? His grey eyes welcome me, as I walk towards where he’s standing. “Hello, Gerard. What could I do to assist you?” His facial features did not seem as pleasant as they usually are, indicating that there is something cooking under that head of his.
“Listen, deary. I don’t want to waste both our times. Just tell your father to come down and meet me, I don’t want to cause any trouble nor make a scene.” What on earth is he talking about? “My dad isn’t home. If your visit is about anything concerning work, then you could discuss it with me in my father’s presence.” He chuckles with no slight humour, as his eyes look at me dangerously. “I know you are hiding something from me, and don’t think that you or your father are able to keep him away from me. He belongs to me and to my field of study.”
A ton of bricks escalade over my head, yet I am still standing and neither did I flinch. He knew about Harry all along? How could he possibly have any clue about him in the first place. It seemed that his eyes were able to read mine, because he spoke: “You thought I didn’t see him locked in your room? You think I didn’t know about him in the first place? Trust me, deary. I am not a moron and I was able to identify your secret with a little bit of my expertise. You should have cleaned that little bathroom of yours, not leave evidence for me to figure out. (He snickers) I’m sure your father told you about the skeletons we found on the island. With a strand from his chopped hair that was scattered on your bathroom’s floor, I analysed it once I came back and it matched the sample from the skeleton’s decay. (He warns) Now, if you don’t want any trouble by the government and you wish to maintain your credibility as a scientific researcher; you will hand me the boy. Ronald, his son and I have great usage of him in our labs.”
Before I could think of it, I yelled: “YOU WON’T DARE TO LAY A FINGER ON HIM. IN FACT IF YOU WISH TO PLAY IT DIRTY I CAN CALL THE GOVERNMENT FOR YOU RIGHT NOW. HARRY IS A LEGAL PERSON AND HE HAS ALL OF HIS PAPERS AUTHORISED SO YOU CAN’T EVEN DO ANYTHING. (I POKE HIM ON HIS CHEST) YOU WILL LEAVE, AND YOU WILL NEVER COME BACK, OR ELSE.”
He didn’t seem touched by my words, not even a little bit. All what Gerard did, was cork his eyebrow in amusement. Before his vicious lips could pronounce a reply, my aunt rushed down the stairs and stood right beside me. “(She warns firmly) How dare you come into my brother’s house and threaten my niece? Get out right now, and take your crazy mind with you. This house excepts people with sophistication and pure hearts.”
Gerard throws a laugh, as he talks: “I will leave you, for now. But trust me you, your brother and this little girl will be crushed. (He mocks) Don’t come running to me when this falls on your heads and bashes your brains. I will have that boy, one way or another. Whether you accept or not, he belongs to our field of research and he is valuable for us. You think dressing him up and teaching him how to behave is going to make him a human? Mark my words, ladies. The boy will be mine and sooner than you could blink your long eyelashes.”
