Sweet Desire

I Don't Want To Move On From Something I've Never Had

I look up at the number of cars being parked in the service bays. Today is going to be so busy, I can only look forward until half five when I am going home.
I start on the first car of the day, lifting up the bonnet I start to do a few checks as the engine has been cutting out. Usually this is simple but I'm not seeing any obvious signs and my hands suddenly become covered in oil. Ah fuck, this isn't good.

As I try to focus on what I'm doing, I start to wonder into last night. Why did I let Emily walk away so easily? I should have just made her give me her number. Prehaps she is trying the cool approach, a lot of people do that. It doesn't help that I am never like this, last girlfriends or girls I have liked haven't ever pulled me in like she has. I usually tend to go with the flow, causing much distress in the relationship as I get accused of not caring or trying.

So enough wallowing in self pity, if she doesn't want to bother then so be it. I'm not going to let it bother me a minute longer, it's her loss if she doesn't want to text me.

"Louis! You've got an oil leak!" David, my boss shouts over and quickly starts to hand me some tools. I get underneath the car and try to address the problem, I first notice a hole that shouldn't be there. This car is going to need alot of work.

"Mate, I think I see the problem." Harry says as he walks towards me, I come out from underneath the car and look up at him, he starts to lean down and unscrews a lose cap. I don't know what's wrong with me today, I just can't concentrate.

I work with quite a few people but I'm closest with Harry. He's fairly new as he recently moved to London, but he's pretty cool. We have the same sort of banter and he's so far one of the best listeners that I know. So I take my opportunity and I start to dive for his advice. So much for not letting it bother me a minute longer..

"I met a girl last night." I start as I stand up and wipe my hands in the towel I'm working with. Harry looks at me and smirks. "Her name is Emily. But I stupidly gave her my number and she hasn't even text me." I sound so pathetic after hearing what has just left my mouth.

"You're not stupid, she probably hasn't text as it's still early days isn't it. Probably playing the hard to get approach." Harry says as he wipes his hands and explains it's nearly done. I nod and thank him. "I love it when girls do that, I like a good chase." He adds smiling.

"But how can I chase her without even knowing who she is?" I ask and Harry bites his lip as he thinks. Harry's probably the person to ask when it comes to girls, he's always got females coming in asking for him. I think it's his curly hair, it's sort of his trade mark.

"There's no point in thinking of a way, I've thought about it all night " I answer and Harry looks at me and frowns as a smirk sneaks up on his lips.

"You're really into her aren't you?" Harry asks and I look away from him shaking my head. "She must be amazing for you to be like this after the first night of meeting her." He laughs and shakes his head.

"No, she's just different. She's shy and seems sweet, just by the way she acted." I say and Harry nods as he finishes the work off and shuts the bonnet. I take the paper work and begin to fill it out.

"But do you want a shy and sweet girl? I'm not being funny but all the girls you've been with have sort of been like, hard as nails?" Harry laughs and I look up at him and try not to join in.

"Annie wasn't. She was sweet.." I say and Harry's eyes widen as he tries not to smile.

"And that's why she left you, because you're so used to the cold approach. You don't know how to be with a sweet girl Lou, because you don't let your inner self out." Harry says as he grabs another file and starts to skim read the next job.

"I don't have a cold approach, I'm just not a loved up sort of person. That's why she left me, because I couldn't emotion attach to her like she wanted me to." I answer and Harry rolls his eyes.

"It didn't help when she witnessed you in a fight with Gary Farley either." Harry adds and I now roll my eyes at him. I knew he was going to bring that up.

"Oh come on, he was harassing my sister what did she expect me to do?" I say in my own defence.

"Probably not beat the shit out of him." Harry replies as he looks away. I shake my head as I try not to let t he memory take over in my head.

"The prick got what he deserved for what he did to my sister." I mumble and Harry looks at me. Harry's not a violent person at all, he believes there's other ways in confronting people than just going in all guns blazing. But I'm very protective of my family and when Gary Farley who is the biggest idiot in our town, us harassing my sister, I'm not exactly going to talk to him over a cup of tea.

He thinks he can treat people in any way that he likes, targeting my sister was a big mistake. I don't walk around thinking 'violence is the answer and if you piss me off I'm going to challenge you', no I'm far more mature than that. I start with a fair warning, then one more until I have to try and do something about it. That's what I did with Gary, I warned him twice and he didn't listen. My sister was getting more and more distressed, so I confronted Gary who decided he didn't want to talk, he wanted fists instead.

I wish Annie never saw that as I didn't intend for her to witness it at all. But being one of the nice girls, she didn't like the thought of someone like me, so she walked away from me and I haven't spoken to her since.

"We've got a burned out clutch on this one." Harry says as he walks towards the car, I watch my other colleagues checking over the car we had just sorted as they have to do final checks. I follow Harry and I look at the girl working on reception, her name is Bella and I get on with her really well, we all do. She looks over and waves, I smile as I wave back. She turns away again as a customer walks in and I watch as she tucks her short blonde hair behind ear as she smiles up at them. She's very attractive, but very tomboyish. She has an attitude like me, we are similar in many ways. Harry smirks at me when I look over at him.

"What?" I ask as I start to help him.

"You and Bella, you both need to just have one night together and get it over with." He laughs as he shakes his head at me, I frown as I shake my head. Yes I am attracted to Bella, I always have been, but I work with her so I'd never let myself get out of control. Plus I think she has a boyfriend, anyway, I'm more bothered about Emily.

"We are just friends Harry, don't be so forward." I smirk as I nudge him as I walk past, Harry rolls his eyes laughing. "Would I bother so much with this Emily, if I wanted Bella?" I ask and Harry looks at me.

"Lou, I really think maybe you shouldn't get your hopes up so much. If she doesn't text you then you need to mentally move on. There's plenty more fish in the sea." Harry says and I know part of him is right, but I don't want to move on from something I've never had.

"I just wanted to see her one more time." I sigh as I grab the tool box and I begin to get straight to work.

"If it's meant to be mate, you'll see her again." Harry says and I nod in agreement. I don't want to be so bothered, but I just can't help it. I turn the radio up as I try to block out my thoughts, Harry starts to sing along to the song on the radio and I join in.

"Louis, there's a girl here for you." Bella says as I quickly look up and catch my head on the bonnet, fuck, I rub the top of my head as the instant pain throbs. I ignore the pain as I look to Harry who is now looking at me in shock. I follow Bella and I see Holly stood there smiling at me, okay it's not Emily but at least it's her friend! This is insane.

"Hey Louis." Holly says and I begin to greet her, she smiles as she looks a little shy compared to last night and I have no idea why she is here. "How did you know I'm here?" I ask.

"You worked on my car a while back, the ford fiesta. You probably don't remember, so I've just booked my car in for a service." Holly says and I'm instantly confused. I thought last night was the first time I had met Holly, she's right I don't remember. But then I may have never met her if the car was passed on to me. "After meeting you last night, I had a feeling that I recognised you." She adds.

I suddenly feel quite weird that Holly has seen me before, why didn't she mention it last night though?

"I never realised you get your car done here." I answer as I look at her slightly confused, she nods and bites her lip. "So, how was your night in the end?" I ask as I really just want to ask her about Emily, but I don't want to seem so keen.

"It's was great, the girls and I had such fun. Emily went home early though." I instantly frown as I want to ask why she went early, but I can't, can I?

"Oh right, hope she's okay?" I ask and Holly nods. Before I can ask anything else she quickly excuses herself as she need to get back to work. "Wait, are you and Emily free later?" I ask and Holly explains that she is but she's not sure about Emily. Before I can go any further David starts calling me, unaware that I'm with a 'customer'.

"I'll pop in again." Holly adds and I watch her leave, I curse myself as I didn't ask enough. I needed to know where I can find Emily and I just missed my chance. I look to David who is asking to assist Harry. I roll my eyes and sigh as I look at Bella.

"She seemed nice." She smirks and I bite my lip. "She comes here often with her car." She adds and I suddenly frown.

"Really? I've never seen her before." I ask and Bella nods,

"You wouldn't see her, you're in the garage working." Bella answers and I look away. I begin to head back towards Harry and I can't help but feel confused at Holly.

"Was that her?" Harry asks with a smile, I shake my head and explain who Holly is and what she has told me. Harry frowns and looks away from me and starts to work again.

"Think you may have an admirer there mate." Harry says and I laugh at his response, when he looks at me with a serious expression I suddenly stop and I question myself. Holly can't be an admirer, she would have said last night that she knew of me at least. "Did you ask about her friend?" He asks interrupting my thoughts.

"No, I didn't get a chance." I sigh as I hand him the spanner. He looks at me and smiles.

"If she is an admirer or stalker, whatever you want to call it, then she will be back. Then you can ask her." Harry adds and I can't believe his suggestion, I don't believe Holly can be either of those, we officially met last night by accident.

Notes

Okay so Louis has started to feel slightly weirded out by Holly, should he be worried?
Is it a coincidence that she happens to get her car serviced in the garage Louis works at?
Let me know what you think :)

Thank you xx
