Sweet Desire

I Don't Believe In Love At First Sight

I've been sat with these girls for at least twenty minutes, yet I still don't know their names. Especially the dark haired girl who I just can't stop fantasising about, she's so shy it's her friend that has been doing most of the talking.

"So here is where you've been hiding." Ben my flat mate says as he approaches us. I look up to I'm and I apologise for my disappearance but he shrugs as he sits down. I see Tom walking over too, my other flat mate. I've been living with these two for just over a year, I've known them since school and we all get on really well. Ben is sometimes quite over the top as he suffers quite badly with anger issues and Tom, he's the complete opposite. He's the most laid back person ever and has the best attitude to life. I'm however in the middle of these two, I got my issues and sometimes I struggle to stay calm if I'm really wound up.

"Hello.." The blonde girls says as she greets Ben and then Tom. "I'm Holly and this is my friend Emily," She says and I suddenly look to Emily. "We don't even know your name!" She laughs as she looks at me.

"Well this is Louis, I'm Ben and this is Tom." Ben says as he takes over and looks at them smiling. Emily looks at Ben and smiles, I start to feel slightly annoyed that he's marched over here and just introduced us like he's met them first. I watch as he sits down next to Emily.

"So you've been talking with Louis all this time, yet you never introduced yourselves?" Ben asks smirking as he looks to the girls then to me. They both laugh and I just shrug as I was going to ask them when I'd ask for her number. But Ben's ruined all that now.

"I was waiting until later.." I say as I sip my drink, Emily turns to me and smiles a soft smile that somehow reassures me. She moves around the booth and makes her way next to me to allow more room for Tom to sit down. I smile to myself as I look down as Ben must feel quite crushed. I can tell he likes the looks of Emily as he chose to sit right next to her and his eyes haven't left her yet.

"It's nice to meet you Louis." Emily says as she leans forward so I can hear her more clearly, I smile as I look at her.

"You too Emily." I say and she smiles again. I get a weird feeling being so close to her, I believe you can find someone from the first moment you see them, you're attracted. But I don't believe in love at first sight. To me, it's completely fairytale crap.

As Ben tries to impress the girls, I stay quiet as I laugh at him, not with him. He's trying so hard and I notice he's still focused on Emily. She doesn't look over interested thank god, but she is smiling politely.

"Right we need to go, the girls are in town." Holly says as she finishes her drink and stands up. I watch Emily do the same and I know this is my only chance.

"Can I have your number?" I ask and she looks at me slightly baffled. But Holly is rushing her and she quickly hands me her phone.

"I don't know mine, give me yours." She smiles as she puts her coat on. I take the phone and type in my number and save it for her. "Thanks." She says as she kisses my cheek and they say goodbye. I nod with a smile as I watch her walk away with Holly.
I need to see her again.

The rest of the night isn't as good as my mind is just wondering about Emily. Is she in another bar pulling some guy? Will she ever text me? Man I can't believe I'm thinking this way. I knew I should have stayed away but my connection towards her is just too strong, it's only the first bloody night of meeting her.

I decide to leave Ben and Tom in the club as I just want to get home. If the atmosphere isn't right because I can't get in the right frame of mind, then there's no point me being here.

As I walk out into the cold, dark streets I hear several voices shouting. In an alleyway I notice a group of guys who've had way too much too drink shouting constant abuse to each other. I can't help but laugh as I walk past as they can't even stand straight, their balance is completely gone. I'm sure they'd laugh too if they saw themselves when sober. I pass a couple of girls who too are stumbling towards me, arms linked together as they try to help contain their balance. But with the shoes they are wearing, I'm surprised they can even stand straight.

One of the girls with jet black hair winks at me as the other brunette wolf whistles. I smirk at their flirtatious behaviour but I continue to walk. Luckily our flat isn't too far from here.

Once I'm home, I take off my coat and kick off my shoes. Making my way to the living room, I fall back on the couch and lazily spread myself out. I reach in my pocket and take my phone out, still no text from Emily; but it's still early days.

I try to occupy my mind by taking the TV remote and switching it on. I begin switching through the channels trying to find something decent to watch, I land on football highlights. This will do.

I love football, I used to play alot until I got a knee injury and I suddenly stopped playing. Mum kept telling me not to play as she was worried I'd get further damage. I'd do anything to be back on the pitch, it makes me feel relaxed and calm. But one idiot ruined it all for me, I hate the player that fucked my knee. It was a nasty tackle as I had the ball but he clearly just cut in, his studs were on show and that's the dirtiest move you can make in football. In return I stamped down on his leg as I hopped up in agony. I knew from then on my knee was never going to be the same again and he had to have an operation on his leg. I don't know if he still plays or not.

My phone vibrates and I quickly pick it up and look at the screen. My heart sinks as it's Tom confirming they're on their way home. I don't bother texting back as I thought it could have been Emily, maybe she doesn't want to text me. Maybe she wasn't as interested as I thought. Maybe this time, I'm really out of my depth. It's not like I can hunt her down or anything, I only know her first name. I have no idea where she lives, where she works or even her last name. All I can do is wait for her to contact me.
