Chapter 7: Nervously Rambling
Jana’s POV
The nurse has taken Tori’s simple checkups. Looking in her ears, her throat, blood pressure, eyes, breathing, and all those other little things. She told me, with out Niall because I didn’t want him to overreact, that they will have to do an ultrasound on her. Which I’m okay with, but then there’s Niall.. and I have to tell him..
The nurse, Becky, leaves the room with a smile, assuring us she’ll be right back as soon as possible. Niall holds Tori’s hand tightly as he sits in the chair closest to her. I stand against the wall, sighing to myself as I know its time to tell Ni what she told me.
“So.. she told me that.. they were gonna do an ultrasound.. to see if something’s wrong..’’ I mumble, not too sure if he had heard me or not. ‘’But.. they do those on pregnant women..’’ He says, looking over at me. ‘’I know-‘’ He cuts me off, a sign that he’s very nervous..
‘’But. Tori’s not pregnant.’’ He says, assuring himself that. ‘’I know baby… if you would let me talk.. I-‘’ ‘’She’s only four.. she’s not starting her period… they can’t fucking think t’at.’’ He says, cutting me off once again.
I walk over to him, pulling him up by his other hand. He lets Tori’s go since she was perfectly occupied with Niall’s phone, playing some game. I push him against the wall and I put my index finger over his mouth. His hands touch my waist gently. He raises his eyebrows at me, confused at my method of telling him to shut the fuck up basically..
‘’I know that your scared, Baby, and I am too.. but these people here are professionals.. and this is an amazingly good hospital, one of the best. You just have to trust me when I tell you that they’re gonna find out what’s wrong with her, okay?’’ I whisper, trying not to let Tori over hear us.
I move my finger so he can begin to ramble again. But to my surprise.. he didn’t. ‘’Okay.’’ He whispers back, pecking my lips gently before I allow him to sit back down. ‘’Are you sure.. you’re okay?’’ I ask, my fingers running through his hair as I stand beside his chair.
‘’yeah baby.. I’m.. fine.’’ He nods. I look around the move with out leaving my spot. My fingers still softly, gently, slowly gliding through Niall’s soft hair. I feel his hand touch my free one. He holds it tight. I squeeze his back, assuring him that everything’s gonna be solved.. I know it will.
‘’When’s.. your.. next.. appointment?’’ He mumbles. I glance down at him to see him staring at my stomach, a light smile on his face. ‘’In a few days..’’ I mumble. ‘’Did the doctor in New York get your stuff transferred down here?’’ He asks, still staring at my stomach. ‘’Yeah. He called me yesterday..’’ I nod, even though he wasn’t watching me.
Sometimes I wonder what Niall’s thinking. Is it all sunshine and rainbows in that pretty mind of his, or is it rain and thunderstorms.. I dunno really, but some how he seems to go about his business.. with a smile gently on his face all the time..
