Chapter 28: Not A Dream
~1:57AM||August 16||~
Jana’s POV
“Keep pushing, honey.’’ The nurse tells me. Niall holds one of my hands, Maura holds the other. Both trying to soothe me. There’s sweat on my forehead and my face is hot. The strain is killing me, it feels like it. ‘’Its okay.. babe. He’s.. almost here.’’ Niall whispers as he places a kiss on my forehead, squeezing my hand tight.
‘’Just a few more.. give me a big one.’’ She tells me. I try my best and push as hard as I can right now. It hurts like Hell. I start crying again, for the third time in an hour. ‘’Shh..’’ Maura tightly grips my hand as I push again, trying to get him out so I can stop being in so much fucking pain.
‘’Niall! Please!’’ I yell as I shut my eyes and strain to keep them shut as I push some more. ‘’I know baby.. almost.. okay.’’ He says. I try to nod, but I can’t. I’ve never felt so much pain. With Tori is wasn’t this hard. They said it was going to be better since it was my second, so where’s the fucking better? Cus I don’t see it!
I keep pushing, harder and harder each attempt. ‘’Calm on honey.. a few more.’’ The nurse says. I try my absolute very best. I scream Niall’s name over and over, begging him to make them stop forcing me to do this.
Suddenly, my pain stops and the nurses let go of my legs. I hear crying and it’s the most beautiful sound ever. I open my eyes to see Niall’s face over mine. ‘’Its okay.. baby.. its over.. he’s.. here.’’ He smiles gently as he leans down and kisses me lightly before helping me lean up after pressing the button to raise the bed up some.
‘’Niall, c’mere.’’ I hear Dr. Braswell say. I watch as Niall walks to them. I see my baby wrapped up in a blanket. ‘’Do the honors.’’ He tells Niall. Ni nods and I see him grab the pair of scissors and he cuts the cord. He smiles gently as they hand our baby to him.
He walks over to me and leans down some. I take him in my arms and kiss his forehead lightly. ‘’He’s so cute.’’ Maura whispers as she looks over at us. ‘’Ni..’’ I mumble. ‘’Hmm?’’ ‘’This is.. really happening.. isn’t it?’’ I ask as I look up at him.
He nods, smiling as he takes the baby back from me and hands him to the nurses so they can do their stuff with him. ‘’Its really real…’’ He says as he uses his shirt to wipe the remaining sweat from my forehead. ‘’You done good.. I’m very proud of you.’’ Maura says as she grabs my hand and holds it gently.
“I didn’t.. try to.. be so.. rough.’’ I mumble as I look at Niall’s hand. The discoloring of his skin shows how hard I held his hand. ‘’Its okay.. it was all worth it.’’ He whispers as he kisses me again. It felt nice to be able to know this is all real.
I wasn’t dreaming any more.
