he gets a girlfriend who hates you and he takes her side Part 1

Liam: “You really feel this way, Y/N?”
Liam had been dating this girl, Hannah, for the past few months and you didn’t like her in the slightest. She was rude to all of the girlfriends and yourself, someone who has been friends with the guys for years.
“It looks like she has another new purse.” You sighed, whispering to Harry as the two of you shared beers out on the deck of the flat he shared with Louis. Harry didn’t particularly care for Liam’s girl either, joining in with you on the belief that she only stuck around for his money.
“He should buy her a new personality while he is at it - he has spent more money on her than I have in my entire life.” Harry added on, polishing off his second beer of the night.
“Correction, she has spent more of his money money than you have in your entire life. Liam isn’t buying it all, she is using his money to buy everything. Makes me sick.”
Yes, it was obvious the boys had money, but you never took advantage of it. You even felt uncomfortable when they tried to pick up the tab at dinners, you always had to contribute - even if it was just the tip.
This girl was going overboard though. Every single time you saw her, which was often, she was always wearing a new designer something. Liam did like to buy and treat his girlfriends, but it was obvious that she was taking advantage.
“Have you talked to Liam about what happened the other day?” You shook your head at Harry, not even wanting to think about the other day when she decided to spill a glass of wine all over your new white shoes just to spite you.

Of course, she acted all innocent, like it was an accident and to not look like a total bitch, you pretended it was okay. Liam was really protective of the girls he dated because fans and the media always tried to exploit it - the last thing you wanted was to be grouped by that bunch.
“Are you kidding me, Y/N? I was there, I watched her to do it.” Harry said urgently, you quickly telling him to be quiet so the others didn’t overhear. You didn’t want to get involved - you were just trying to stay as far away from her as possible.
“There isn’t much I can do, Harry. He is going to take her side, he ALWAYS does.” It was noble of him to always side with her except for the fact that she caused everything that happened.
You felt nauseous just thinking about all of the times Hannah would use her stupid, pouty lips to get Liam’s credit card. Something he ALWAYS gave to her without a blink of an eye.
Sighing, you stood from the deck and grabbed the two empty beer bottles before excusing yourself into the flat to grab two more. As you approached the kitchen, Liam stood there, rummaging through the fridge.
“Up for two more?” Liam chuckled as he reached further into the fridge and grabbed two more beers for Harry and yourself.
“Eh, fuck it.” You shrugged, digging through one of the drawers for a bottle opener. You heard Liam shut the fridge door before feeling his presence next to you.
“What’s up with you today? You seem upset.” You were the closest with him out of all of the boys - he could always sense when something was off.
“It’s nothing, Payno. Really.” You aggressively removed the bottle caps from the beers, listening to them as they dropped to the hard surface of the countertop.
“Don’t lie to me, Y/N. Come on, you’ve been so distant lately. You know you can talk to me.” Chewing on the inside of your lip, you looked out the window and saw his girlfriend standing amidst all of the boys, clicking away at her overpriced phone.
“I just don’t want to upset you.” You voice was small, afraid that by saying anything, your entire friendship with him was going to be ruined.
“Well, not telling me is even worse. Come on.” He egged on, nudging you with his elbow. Tucking a piece of hair behind your ear, you looked up at him.
“Do you ever think that, maybe, Hannah is using you for your money?” The words left your lips so quietly that you didn’t think Liam had even heard them. But his know clenched fists were telling you that he heard every word.
“What? You too, now?” He spat harshly, taking a step away from you. His voice alone was enough to break your heart in two.
“I don’t mean it in a bad way, it’s just the guys and I-”
“Guys? As in all of you feel this way? Christ.” He looked up at the ceiling, more pissed than ever.
“You know Y/N, I would expect this type of stuff from the fans and the media, but never from you. You are supposed to be my best friend..”
“And I am your best friend, Liam. Hannah is HORRIBLE to me and you don’t even take the time to notice. Not to mention, you let her take advantage of your fucking bank accounts. New purses, new jewelry, new whatever the fuck Hannah wants. I am just concerned.” You could feel tears forming in your eyes, but you tried your best to keep it together.
“I can’t believe this.” He mumbled to himself before looking down at you, his eyes dark and filled with resentment. Seconds turned into minutes and the minutes seemed to turn into hours before Liam finally spoke up.
“You really feel this way, Y/N?” At this point, Liam could barely look at you, but you slowly nodded your head, knowing you were too far gone to try and lie to him.
“I don’t want someone on the road with us that is going to treat who I love like this.” The words hit you like a ton of bricks - you weren’t expecting that. While you didn’t spend all of the tours with him, Liam always made sure you joined them for parts of it to keep him from going insane. And now, he didn’t want you there at all.
Your breathing was heavy as you stared at your best friend who never looked so hurt in his life. Your lips broke to speak, but Harry’s voice filled the air before you got the chance to.
“Hey guys, what’s going on?” Shaking your head, you were bolting out of the kitchen after the first tear dropped from your eye.
“Y/N, WAIT!” Harry shouted after you, but you kept running - Liam doing nothing to stop you.
Harry: “Are you jealous or something?”

It was completely obvious that you had been in love with Harry for years. Well, obvious to everyone, but Harry. The guys got to sit back and watch as your heart got broken time and time again as Harry brought new girls into his life.
Today was Greg Horan’s wedding and after promising he would be your date to the wedding months ago, Harry was bringing his brand new girlfriend, Olivia.
To put it nicely, Olivia hated you. She felt like you spent too much time Harry and he spent too much time with you. Though you did love Harry, you would never try to steal him away from any girl he was with even though it hurt to see him with them. You were too worried that it would ruin your friendship with him which is why you had buried your feelings toward him for so long.
So when Olivia came around, she made sure to occupy Harry’s time as much as possible. After two months, you had maybe seen your best friend five or six times when you used to see him almost everyday.
You were always too scared to tell Harry about Olivia and how she was purposefully alienating him so she could have Harry to herself. So you kept your thoughts to yourself.
However, as you watched your best friend get ready for the wedding, you found yourself chewing at the bit. His eyebrows were scrunched together as he appeared to be deep in thought, his fiery eyes flickering to yours every once and a while.
It was clear things had changed between you two - it could be felt in the air. You two no longer felt completely comfortable with one another, an odd vibe engulfing you two.
As Harry fumbled to button the collar of his dress shirt, you rose from your seat and quickly took over.
“Y/N, can I ask you something?” He mumbled softly as you worked to get the button through the hole of his shirt.
“Of course, Harry.”
“Do you not like Olivia?” The words left his mouth so casually, but you felt your body instantly freeze up.
“What makes you say that?” You smoothed out his collar before stepping away from him as he put on his coat jacket, his eyes barely leaving you.
“I was talking to her the other day and she thinks you don’t like her for some reason. I mean, you two don’t really talk when we are all hanging out.”
“We don’t hang out that much, Harry.” You said with a small voice as you reached to put on the heels you had selected for the night.
“What does that mean?” You could hear how offended he was with that statement, but it was the truth. Letting out a sigh, you reached for your bag and looked at him.
“Come on, Harry. I have barely seen you in two months. I-”
“That’s not true, Y/N.” He was in complete denial, not even realizing that he hasn’t seen you or the boys in so long.
“Think about it, Harry. We used to see you almost every day and now, we are lucky if we can even hang for an hour or two. Olivia is taking up all of your time, I never see you anymore. So when you say I don’t really talk to her when we hang out, it’s because we don’t really hang out anymore.”
You could tell by his tense expression that he was taken in everything you had just said, allowing every since word to process before he narrowed his eyes at you.
“You still didn’t answer my question. Do you like her?” You gulped, knowing where this was heading. Rolling your eyes, you paced to the other side of Harry’s bedroom to avoid the question.
“Answer me, Y/N. Please,” his voice was soft, “Olivia said you are never around because you don’t like her.”
“That’s not true! But how am I supposed to like a girl who is constantly making sure I can’t hang out with my best friend! She is doing it on purpose, Harry. She is taking up all of your free time so she can have you all to herself.” Throwing your hands up defeat, you heard the opening and closing of Harry’s front door, notifying you that your new wedding escort, Louis, had just showed up.
“Olivia would never do that, Y/N and you know it. What is it? What is this vendetta you have against her? Are you jealous or something?” That was enough to send you over the edge.
“Jealous?! Why would I be jealous, Harry? This isn’t the first girl of yours that has completed hated my guts. This isn’t the first girl you started seeing that completely walks all over me and makes sure I never see you, my best friend! I am used to you always taking their side and never even listening to mine, so why on Earth, would I be fucking jealous of Olivia?” You shouted at Harry as you stood at the top of the stairwell.
Your gazes were burning into one another, both of you completely fuming. Your built up emotions were finally being released and while you were relieved, you couldn’t help, but feel that your friendship with Harry was slowly crumbling before your eyes.
Your eyes flickered towards the bottom of the stairs as you heard a throat clear, finding Louis standing there having heard the entire argument.
“I always come at the best time, don’t I?” He said, trying his best to ease the mood. Scuffing, you grabbed the bottom of your dress and descended the stairs, following Louis out the door.
Niall: “Are you actually believing this load of shit, Niall?”

“Ugh, when is Niall going to drop that friend of his? She is such a bore.” You breath hitched in your throat as you listened to Jessica, Niall’s girlfriend, as she chatted on the phone in one of the backstage dressing rooms.
“She is everywhere we go. I can’t get rid of her and Niall insists that we bring her along, it’s such a drag. It’s like I am babysitting. Plus, she doesn’t even have a fucking personality.” You felt anger pulsing through your veins as you listened from beside the door, remaining hidden from her voice.
You hadn’t known Jessica for very long, but it was clear you two didn’t care for each other. You’d been Niall and the lads’ friend for years, but none of their girlfriends had ever said such cruel things about you.
Not being able to stomach anymore, you paced back down the hallway to one of the other dressing rooms, running into Niall in the process. The guys must have just gotten back from their radio interview.
“Hey, Y/N. What’s wrong?” He could sense you were upset about something, he always could. He wrapped you in one of his big hugs and you hugged him back, hard.
“It’s nothing, I am fine.” You loved Niall and the last thing you wanted was to talk badly about someone he was with, even if they were saying mean things about you.
“Come on, I know that look. Something is bothering you.” He ushered you into the nearby dressing room, sitting you down on the couch.
“Tell me, Y/N.” Staring down at your hands, you knew that Niall wasn’t going to let you leave until you told him what was on your mind.
“I was walking down the hall to see if anyone was back and I overheard Jessica….saying some really rude stuff about me. I-”
“Wait, she what?” Niall was very protective of you and never liked it when people talked badly about you. Whether it was the fans, the media or anyone - no one ever talked crap about her on his watch.
“Anyway, it just kind of bothered-” You cut your sentence short as Jessica appeared in the doorway, an overly excited grin on her face.
“Hey babe.” She wrapped her arms around him, planting a big kiss on his lips as she took a seat next to him. Jessica and PDA were things you hated - she was always over the top, as if she needed to make it known to everyone around that Niall and her were dating.
“What are we all talking about?” She asked, her eyes flickering to you and back at Niall. A red tint appeared on your cheeks as this situation just got a whole lot awkward.
“Actually Jess, Y/N was just telling me about something she heard a few minutes ago. Were you saying anything rude about her while I was gone?” You could tell by the sound of Niall’s voice that he felt very awkward as well, something that wasn’t making the situation any better.
As you expected, a look of shock panned Jessica’s face as her act began. She should be a fucking actress of something. Bringing her hand to her chest, she vigorously shook her head.
“What? No! Y/N, why on Earth would you think that? There must be some sort of misunderstanding. I was just coming in here actually to see if you wanted to go on a coffee run before the show started.” An artificial smile appeared on her face as she tried to mask over the fact that she had been caught red handed and was lying about it.
You looked at Niall for some backup, hoping to god that he could see right through his girlfriend’s act. However, a small smile creeped on his face, instantly filling your entire body with anger and disappointment.
“Do you think maybe you heard Jess wrong, Y/N?”
“I am so sorry you think I might have said something to hurt your feelings. I would never!” The entire situation was making you sick to your stomach as Niall rested his hand on Jessica’s thigh for support, both sets of eyes staring down at you.
“Are you actually believing this load of shit, Niall?” You could feel the anger pulsating through your veins. If there was one thing you hated more than anything, it was someone lying straight to your face.
Jessica narrowed her eyes at you briefly before widening them in disbelief as she tugged on Niall’s arm.
“Ni, I would never say anything like that about her. I know how important she is to you, she’s your best friend.”
That comment alone was enough for you to dive at her with all of the strength you had, but instead you simply stood from the couch and made it for the doorway.
“Y/N, there is gotta be some source of confusion here.” Niall said softly as he stood to go after you, Jessica’s hand on his forearm keeping him in place.
“Well, it seems like the source of confusion on my behalf. Tell your girlfriend to check her surroundings before she starts talking shit about me next time, okay?” You said back to your best friend as you continued to walk out of the door and down the busy backstage hallway.
Zayn: “Oh, it’s fine. I am just glad you guys are here.”

Since day one, Zayn had been your number one supporter when it came to your artwork. Not that the other boys weren’t, but you and Zayn had interest in the same type of art, making that mutual support unbreakable. You always turned to each other when you were having a creative block of some sort, working together to break it and come up with something brilliant.
You rushed into the flat, greeted by cheers from the lads as you sat down your bag stuffed with art supplies and walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water. You felt like you were walking on clouds - your first art show was tomorrow and you had been busy all week setting up. You wanted it to be perfect.
“Hey, Y/N. You need to take a break from setting up for that bloody art show or you aren’t going to make it.” Zayn teased as he came up behind you, placing his strong hands on your shoulders and giving them a little rub to ease the tension.
“I’ll be fine. I want to be perfect, you know how I am.” You filled the glass up under the tap, taking a long sip before setting the cup down and turning around to be greeted by Zayn’s perfect eyes.
Zayn was your best friend, but no matter how hard you tried, your feelings for him couldn’t be put aside. None of the guys knew - no one did. You felt that if you told anyone, it was going to completely change everything within the group and that was the last thing you wanted.
“It’s going to great, don’t worry about it. The lads and I will be clawing at the doors until they open and we can finally see everything.” That brought a smile to your face. You loved the support from all of them especially since it was normally you supporting them. With their busy schedules and being the biggest boy band in the world, it was hard to compete with that. While they made you so proud time and time again, it was your turn to make them proud, especially Zayn - he has been supporting you since the beginning.
The two of you joined the rest of the group in the living as loud shouts over the FIFA game going on caused your ears to ring. Squeezing in between Liam and Louis, you watched as Zayn took a seat next to Kara, his girlfriend.
You hid your jealousy well, but for the past few months since they began dating, there was a little flicker of hope that maybe Zayn would dump her and admit that he had feelings for you. Kara wasn’t too fond of you, for reasons you haven’t been able to figure out.
Louis observed that she feels left out of the group because she hasn’t been around long enough to know how the dynamic worked which caused her to have jealousy towards you. It all made sense, you just wished she wasn’t so nasty to you. Between the rude comments under her breath and the glares at all given times during the day, you were over Kara.
But Zayn was smitten it seemed. He was always the type of guy to put his lady first, Kara being no exception. He was blinded by the entire relationship, never once seeing her actions towards you. Kara was good at masking it though and you didn’t want to speak up about it.
Kara loved to grab the attention whenever she could, she wanted Zayn and the boys to be focused on her. She thrived on it.
“What does the art show start tomorrow, Y/N?” Niall mumbled as a spoon hung from his mouth, a big bowl of ice cream sitting in his lap while he used his hands to fumble with the game controller.
“Around seven.” You spoke quietly as you focused on your hands, slowly peeling off blotches of dried paint.
The guys spent the next few minutes talking about how stoked they were for it, bombarding you with questions about what kind of pieces you would be showing.
“You guys are going to have to come and see it.” You teased, causing Liam to nudge in the ribs with your elbow.
“That’s not fair, Y/N. Whenever we write a new song, we share it with you.” Niall was giving you the pouty lips now, all of which just made you laugh.
“That’s because you guys are weak! Weak! Weak! Weak!” You teased towards the group of guys. Within the next few seconds, the game on the screen had been paused and you felt the weight of, literally, five boys on top of your body as they cursed profanities at you.
“You guys smell fucking terrible. It’s called a shower.” You pushed the last of them off of you, trying to catch your breath as Harry’s pearly white teeth flashed in a smile a little bit too close to you for comfort.
“You don’t gotta smell good, if you look like we do.” You scuffed and pushed the curly haired boy’s chest as the game resumed and you straightened up on the couch. Peering over at Kara, her eyes narrowed at you before Zayn took a seat next to her, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.
You had to suppress an annoyed groan when you heard an incredibly fake and over exaggerated cough leave Kara as she brought her hand up to cover it.
“You alright, love?” You heard Zayn ask over the shouts of the boys, so irritated with his ability to see right through her game.
“I am not feeling very good, all of a sudden. Can we go back to your place, you think?” She pouted slightly at him, instantly making you want to gag at the sight.
“Hey guys, Kara isn’t feeling very well. We are going to head out.” Zayn announced to the group as he got up off the couch, Kara’s hand already in his.
A pit in your stomach formed as you thoughts of worry filled your head regarding tomorrow night, thoughts that Zayn immediately erased as he leaned down and kissed the top of your head from the other side of the couch.
“I’ll see you tomorrow night.” You looked up at him, nodding and mumbled a goodbye to Kara as the two of them left.
Once the door shut, you felt four pairs of eyes wander to you, but you pretended to ignore their gazes completely by standing up abruptly from the crowded couch.
“Who wants food?”
++++
The night of your art show had arrived and you stood by your collection as you smoothed out the skirt you were wearing, your eyes eagerly looking around. The show had started some twenty minutes ago and you had yet to see those familiar five faces.
The studio was packed with people and you did your best to create small talk with people that passed by, but you were too anxious for the boys to arrive to really focus on anything else.
You felt your face lit up as you saw the lads finally walking towards you, it seeming like an eternity since the show started. However, time started to slow down as you began to count the number of heads. One, two, three, four…….. Zayn was missing from the pack.
Disappointment filled your entire body, trying so hard to hide the emotion from your face, knowing that the lads caught it anyway.
“We just got off the phone with Zayn,” Liam spoke up, “apparently Kara came down with something so he, uhh, he can’t make it tonight.” Your throat went dry and your eyes started to swell with tears as you took in Liam’s words. However, as soon as they appeared, they had vanished.
The last thing you wanted was to show how upset you here. Kara wasn’t sick - she had done it on purpose. She knew how much it meant to you for Zayn to be here tonight and she had sabotaged it so she could keep his attention on her, she always did that. And Zayn always sided with her.
“Oh, it’s fine. I am just glad you guys are here.”
Louis: “I can’t, I can’t even look at you.”

“Stay the fuck away from, Louis.” You rolled your eye as Louis’s brand new girlfriend, Nicole, came barging into the bathroom of the club. It was always like this - Louis would have some new girl around and she would automatically insult you and tell you to get the hell away from Louis - the kid who has been your best friend since you were in diapers.
“I don’t want him, Nicole. For the third time, we are friends. I have known the kid for almost twenty years.” Pulling the paper towels out of the dispenser, you dried your hands as she continued to aggravate you.
“I don’t care how long you have known him, we are dating now and I don’t like you around him.” She gave you a judgemental stare, up and down as her heels clicked against the tile floor closer to you.
“The guys might not be able to see your act, but I can see right through you. I know you like him, but too bad sweetie.” It was true, you’ve been in love with Louis for years, but that was your secret to take with you to your grave.
“Okay “sweetie”, I don’t know exactly what you think about Louis and I, but me and him are just friends. I am not going to steal him from you. I understand that you might be a little insecure in this relationship you have with him-”
“What did you just say?” Nicole stood a good two inches taller than you because of her fucking heels so as she took a step closer to you, she towered over your short frame.
You and Louis were close and every girl always saw that as a threat. They felt threatened by you - that you were suddenly going to drop in and take Louis away from them, but that is the last thing that would happen. Louis liked you as a friend and that was it so there would be no “stealing”.
The girls always harassed you and you took the heat as best you could, hiding all of the incidences and harsh words from Louis because you didn’t even know how to address the situations. Most of them didn’t stay around for long, Louis finally figuring out they were only there because they wanted a piece of the fame - they weren’t there for him. At least Louis figured that out eventually, but sometimes, it took him longer than it should.
“I said that maybe if you weren’t so insecure in your relationship with him, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation.” You were ballsy, but you could hold your own. You were just as sassy as Mr. Tomlinson and weren’t afraid to show it.
However, the last thing you were expecting was to feel the wind being knocked out of you as Nicole reached up and slapped you across the cheek, the slap echoing off of the walls.
Holding onto your cheek, you looked at her with such disbelief. Never had anyone in your entire life hit you and you can’t believe this conversation had escalated that quickly.
“It was lovely chatting with you, Y/N.” Nicole turned around and walked out of the vacant bathroom, leaving you completely stunned at what had just happened.
Turning towards the mirror, you took in your red cheek, tears forming in your eyes. What the fuck had just happened? You were in shock - not sure how to feel in that moment.
Grabbing your bag off of the counter, you bit your lip to keep from crying as you made your way back into the busy nightclub, in search of Louis to tell him what happened.
However, as you made it back to the VIP section all of the lads were hanging in, you were caught completely off guard. Nicole was seated next to Louis, clutching her cheek and crying.
Louis’s icy stare met yours in an instant causing you to completely freeze up. Before you could even blink, he was standing in front of you, fuming.
“Is it true, Y/N? You fucking hit her!” He shouted over the music, his voice the loudest you had ever heard it. You jumped at his tone, too many emotions flooding through you at once.
“What? No, no! Louis she is lying. She hit me first. I..” You didn’t even know what to say as tears started to run down your cheek. However, Louis wasn’t believing a single word you were saying.
“I know you didn’t like some of the girls I have been with in the past, but I never thought you would take it this far. I can’t, I can’t even look at you.” With a look of disgust, Louis turned away from you and was quickly back at Nicole’s side as she continued to fake cry.
The lump in your throat was getting larger by the second as what had happened finally hit you. Dizzy from your thoughts and the loud music of the club, you quickly turned around and ran as fast as you could through the crowd of people, desperate to get as far away from Nicole, and Louis, as you could.
