Once In a Lifetime

When we got back to Izzy's house, we immediately began getting ready. But to be fair, it was really me just letting Izzy do whatever she pleased with my face as I just sat there.

Now, nearly half an hour later, I look in the mirror in complete awe of what Izzy has done. My dark hair is perfectly tousled, framing my small face beautifully. As for my makeup, I don't think I have ever looked so stunning. My face is glowing and fresh. I look natural but somehow Izzy managed to make me look so...alluring. I'm not the biggest fan of the word to describe myself, only because I'm not at all alluring. I'm cute, maybe even sweet, but never alluring. Either way, the makeup is gorgeous.

I see Izzy standing behind me in the mirror, obviously happy with her work. But still, something about her seems off.

"So how do I look?" I ask shyly, while Turing around to meet her eyes.

"You look so beautiful Kara, L-...like a model. Honestly I mean that. Everyone is going to be so happy to see you! This is the perfect look for your homecoming." Izzy says. She definitely stuttered in the beginning...which is something she never does.

"Iz, is everything okay? You're acting really strange." I ask her cautiously.

"Yeah, yeah Kara I'm good! I'm just nervous about the party yanno? I hope everyone enjoys themselves and everything." She says lightly. She seems honest so I have no reason not to believe her.

"Oh come on Izzy! Everyone loves your party! It's going to be great, I'm actually excited...underneath all of my nervousness." I laugh.

With that, the doorbell rings, and it's obvious the party is about to start. We make our way downstairs just in time for a huge crowd of people to begin their way into the house. A few faces greet me excitedly. But for some reason my heart is beating out of my chest. I decide to pour myself a glass of champagne, my favorite ever since moving to the states.

I feel myself start to loosen up, and the anxiety begins to leave my body. An old friend of mine named Nicole begins speaking to me. Apparently my mother was bragging to people about Logan, because everyone is asking my where my lawyer fiancé is.

Logan and I met in university. I went to be a public relations specialist, and Logan was there close to being done with law. He was older than me by a few years, but still decided to relentlessly pursue me. I must have said no to him a handful of times before finally agreeing to go out on a date with him. Logan was charming, and polite. He came from a very affluent family and in a lot of ways, dating him changed me. We had a nice relationship, but it didn't make me feel on fire, not the way Louis always did.

That thought makes me desperate for another glass, and so I go and grab one. Within seconds I down the entire glass and grab another. As I turn around, I hear a bunch of cheering. And suddenly, I'm faced with my past.

"Kara..." He says with a small smile on his face. He almost sounded breathless.

I know it's been a while since my last update, but I was feeling extremely uninspired and my life for a little crazy. But I'm back now and hopefully this story continues to grow! Thank you for all of the support.
