Once In a Lifetime

*Louis POV*

The flight home was exhausting. The entire damn time I just sat in my seat silently praying that she would be home for the holidays. I know that if she was going to come home for Christmas, she would already be here. Kara and he family were big planners, which was a big part of the reason I was so shocked by her leaving so abruptly. I hate that I still wish she would come home though. Even when I was dating Eleanor, and I brought her home for the holiday, I wished Kara would be there. Its messed up I know, which is why after a year of being with Eleanor, we had to end it. She knew I was still stuck on someone else, and it wasn't fair to her.

But Kara... I knew her life was a little different. Izzy updated me from time to time, when I asked of course, on what Kara's life in America was like. She only ever told me simple things, never anything I could use to find her, or contact her with. I understood this though, she was friends with both of us, and wanted to respect our conflicting wishes.

Two years back, just before Eleanor and I got together, Izzy told me that Kara had started seeing a boy from the states named Logan. He was in the same university as Kara. Izzy said he seemed like he was good for her, but she didn't seem that into him. That must have changed because six months ago, only a little while before Eleanor and I broke up, he asked her to marry him. Kara supposedly told him she needed some time to consider it, but it wasn't by any means a no.

Ultimately, this is what led to my break up with El. I heard she might decide to marry another guy and I was absolutely gutted. I went nights, sometimes a week, without sleeping. The thought of her walking down the aisle to marry another man was too much, it made me sick. Even more so, the thought of her becoming the mother of someone else's child infuriated me. Those where the things I wanted for us, but those dreams where torn from me. This wrecked me more than her leaving did. And at that point, Eleanor could clearly see that I couldn't give my entire heart to her, and we split.

It wasn't fair to me that she could always just run away from her problems and be happy, while Im stuck being haunted by them. But I still fucking love her. I love her so much and I still need her. I've tried so hard to feel these things for other people but I find myself wishing those other girls were her. I need to see her again, I just cant do this anymore.

As soon as I get to my mom's black car at the airport, I pull out my phone. I kiss my mom on the cheek briefly and tell her I've missed her. I think she can tell I'm either tired or upset about something, so she lets the car ride stay pretty quiet. She has always been so good with that. I decide to text Izzy.

To: Izzy
Is she home?
From: Izzy
Who are you talking about? I'm getting ready for the party, will you be home for it?
To: Izzy
You know who. And yeah, I'll be there.
From: Izzy
Louis don't start anything tonight. I'll see you in a few hours. Text me before you get to my house. I've got to go.

And with that last text, I have my answer. I feel myself start to shake as a million emotions race through my body. My heart is erupting with nerves and joy as it begins to beat faster and faster and the anticipation grows. But my brain tells me I should be angry, and I can feel my blood boiling. All of these emotions take over and I can't think straight. But one thing I know for sure is that tonight, after four years of searching and waiting, and constant longing for her, I will finally see Kara Costigan again.

Here we go! The story is really starting to get going, and I'm loving the direction its starting to take on. We got a lot of new information in this chapter, even though it was a little short!
