Merry Christmas, Everyone
The two of us walked down the sidewalk holding hands while a light snow gently fell to the ground. It was almost like a scene out of a movie. We decided to take a detour from walking home and instead walked to the tree in Rockefeller Center. We looked down onto the rink filled with ice skaters varying from older couples to families with younger kids. I looked down at my phone to check the time and it was only 11:00.
"The rink doesn't close for another hour if you..." but before I could even finish my sentence, Louis had already seized my hand and started pulling me towards the ticket booth. I didn't think he thought I was actually being serious. I would never in a million years step foot on a block of ice with my only defense mechanism being my ass or my face- plus I was in a dress! If it wasn't still Louis' birthday, no way in hell would I be doing this.
We both got our skates and sat down to put them on. Feeling uneasy about this whole thing, I glanced over at Louis. "What if I fall? I'm wearing a dress! I'd be so embarrassed, maybe I should wait here?'
Louis smirked at me. "Oh love, I would never let you fall - now would I?" He stood in front of me and extended his arms out signaling for me to stand up. I initially wobbled around, trying to gain my balance. Louis, holding my arm, started walking towards the ice.
Once on the ice I thought to myself that it actually wasn't that bad. "Penelope." Louis looked at me. "You have to move your feet love, we can't just stand here! Just follow my lead, I won't let you fall, remember?" I looked at other people around me and tried to imitate their footwork. I held on to Louis tighter than I ever have.
"See, not so bad is it?" Louis said. "Wanna try on your own?" I'm almost positive he only said that because I was probably cutting off his circulation to his arm since I was holding it so tightly. I still shook my head no. Louis let out one of his really cute laughs.
We skated around and around to various Christmas music playing in the background and as the time passed, the crowd began to thin out. "Lou, it's getting pretty late- ready to go?" He nodded back at me as we proceeded to skate towards the exit.
"Not so bad was it? But if it wasn't for me, I bet you would've fallen on your bum." Louis proceeded to kiss my forehead.
We returned our skates, but our shoes back on and decided to take the long way home. New York City during the Christmas season is truly remarkable. I've lived in this city for such a long time but it still leaves me speechless when I see the huge tree or window displays on every store.
When we finally reached our apartment, Louis stopped me from opening the door and looked me in the eyes. "You know P, you really are the best." Louis began stroking my cheek. "I don't know how I became so lucky and ended up with such a great girl like you." He's only said that to me a million times but every time feels like the first time. Louis still has the ability to give me butterflies. Louis gave me a kiss before he opened the door for me.
I had almost forgot! I still need to give Louis his present!
