Katie's P.O.V.

The final bell rang just as I ran into my classroom. I let out a sigh of relief as I slipped into the seat next to Rachel's. She raised one of her perfectly plucked eyebrows in question and I just shook my head in response.

"Don't ask" I mumbled, referring to the fact that I was late. I hated being late for school. Or anything for that matter. It was very rare that Rachel got to school before me. She usually swaned into school just before the bell went.

She shrugged and began taking out her books. I followed suit, pulling my books out of my bag and looking to the front of the class. It was about halfway through the class when Rachel nudged me.

I turned to face her with a confused expression.

"The list is going up today" she whispered.

My mouth formed a little 'o'. I had completely forgotten about that.

A few weeks ago, auditions had been held for the school musical 'Beauty and The Beast'. I had been taking drama classes since I was seven years old and had completed all my grades so of course I was eager to audition. I had went for the role of Belle, which was a little ambitious. The list of casting was going up tofay and I was hoping to be involved. Honestly though I really wanted the lead. I wouldn't admit that to anyone other than Rachel though.

She had auditioned too of course but that was only because she knew she'd get out of class sometimes for rehearsal. She had also heard a rumour that Ashton Irwin was auditioning which according to her would give him the perfect chance to realize he had always been in love with her.

The poor thing had been crushing on him for ages and he had never so much as glanced at her. In fairness though she had never really tried to talk to him.

Not that I could blame her. Ashton could have any girl he wanted. He had himself on a pedastool above us all. Him and his friends - Calum, Michael and Luke.

Especially Luke. Luke Hemmings was the most popular guy in the school. Rachel and I weren't unpopular or anything but Luke would never so much as say hi to us. Michael and Ashton weren't much better. Calum however was a bit more friendly. He would chat away to everyone and anyone meaning he was the only one in their little group that I actually liked. Why Rachel liked Ashton, I didn't understand.

My first few classes passed by in a blur. I was so busy thinking about the musical and the list that I could barely pay attention.

As soon as the final bell rang for lunch I took off in a run - yes an actual run - all the way to the notice board. By the time I got there though there was so many people around it I couldn't get to the front.

Before I had a chance to shove my way in, I felt a pair of arms wrap around me from behind and spin me around.

"Calum?!" I yelled out in surprise once he had put me down.

"Well done babe!" He congratulated me as more people started to gather around me.

I heard a few 'Well dones' and 'Congratulations' as I got closer to the notice board and gasped when I read the list.

There it was. Right before my eyes.
