Who Are You

Chapter 15

Butterflies wouldn't even begin to explain how I was feeling right now. Harry was coming to pick me up in a couple of minutes, and I had no idea where we would be going.

It's funny, the only person who makes me nervous is Harry.

He also made a really big deal out of this, kind of like when we boxed each other and he had Carter and Lucy become our referees. Harry demanded we couldn't see each other all day, so I just did a simple workout at the gym alone.

Then I received a text from him telling me to pick up a dress at a near by boutique.

I was very surprised by this, the dress was gorgeous and formal. We must be going somewhere special. With the dress came a note that informed me I would be picked up at seven.

My heart warmed at the idea of getting to know him better, that's truly all that I wanted. We both had these walls up and I was becoming scared that I would develop strong feelings for this man before I really knew who he was.

I checked my iPhone, ten minutes until seven.

As I reapplied some lip gloss and mascara, my mind drifted to early today. I had finally reached out to Carter and asked him if we could grab lunch later this week. I felt horrible for what happened with Harry, and we needed to clear this mess up.

He never replied, but I hoped he would. I also knew that Harry and him had made up, and I had a hunch Carter helped Harry out with this date. I mean, Harry probably has never done something like this and Carter is a sweetheart.

Finally a knock came from the door of my flat. Before going to meet Harry, I checked myself in the mirror one last time.

The dress hung to all my curves, and the slit at the side made a bold statement. I just wondered if it would look the way Harry wanted it to when he, or Carter, picked it out.

I opened the door to reveal Harry all dressed up, and was blown away.

He was in all black, so simple yet he managed to look perfect.

Harry stood there speechless as his eyes drifted down my body. I could tell he was in awe just as I was.

"Lucy, you are breathtaking," He finally managed to say.

Shyly, I bowed my head and grinned at the floor. After I thanked him, his hand reached out to me and I took it gently.

Outside a cab was waiting on us.

I shot Harry a quizzical look, implying on why we were taking a cab. Understanding my unspoken question, Harry replied.

"The place we are going to after dinner isn't far from my house so I thought we could walk back," he told me while opening the cab.

We slid in together and the cab took off.

As we passed by the area my house was in, my interest peaked at where our destination was.

Harry sat by me quietly while rubbing circles with his thumb on my hand.

About ten minutes later, we slowed and arrived to a fancy restaurant. Now I could see why he wanted us to dress up. The place, Canils, had several glass windows overlooking Seattle.

It reminded me of Harry's bedroom window that also overlooked much of the city.

Harry went up to the front desk and asked for our reservations. Then we were lead through a pair of doors to a secluded section. Only one table was set up in front of a beautiful view.

This date was like a dream, obviously Harry had paid a lot to get us all alone, and I loved it.
We were left alone at our romantic setup with menus.

While I scanned through the choices, Harry informed me we were getting the three course meal. After we discussed what we wanted, we ordered from our waiter.

For the first course Harry had talked me into getting oysters since I'd never had them. I teased him about it, claiming he just wanted to get me into bed since oysters were aphrodisiacs. He retaliated claiming that if he wanted me in bed we would be there right now. This made me laugh and soon we were onto deciding the next course.

The main course was harder to decide since I had never ate this kind of food. It did slightly bother me that Harry was paying so much, but I tried to brush it off since this was his way of showing he wanted us.
Finally we chose the Muscovy Duck for the main course since it had amazing reviews. Harry also mentioned that he's had duck before.

Lastly we had to get a dessert. Since I knew it would almost be impossible for me to get that far, I offered for Harry to choose that one.

"Noooo, we are ordering this together! I don't care if I have to stuff it in your face," Harry joked with me.
Through my giggles I replied, "Then I may bust out of this dress!" I joked back.

Soon we were both laughing and our waiter had come to see if we were ready to order. Harry swiftly ordered the first two courses and then our waiter kindly pointed out that the apple tart was delicious.
He was lean and had short, blond hair.

As he went into more detail about the dessert, his hand rested on the back of my chair.
I could sense Harry's gaze focused on the guy's hand, and immediately his face stiffened.

Suddenly Harry interrupted the waiter.

"Apple tart would be fine, and fill up our drinks," he demanded rudely.

The waiter stood up embarrassedly and whisked away our drinks and orders.

Giving Harry a worried look, I asked him what's wrong.

"What's wrong?" He asked, "What's wrong is our waiter was flirting with you on our date."

I had forgotten how quickly Harry gets jealous and jumps to conclusions. Wanting to calm him down, I reached out for his hand.

"You're the only person that I'm interested in alright?" I pleaded with him.

He gave me a small nod and reassurance flooded through me. I didn't want everything to be ruined because Harry thought that the waiter was into me, when he clearly wasn't.

The oysters came out just as my stomach growled and I looked over to catch Harry licking his lips.
As I took the first oyster into my mouth, it was amazing. Fresh and chilled perfectly. Also some red wine mignonette sauce came with. Harry told me I had to try it, and I was happy I did.

It was nice to enjoy something new and different with Harry. As we finished up the last of the platter, we started to talk about ourselves more.

"So Harry, where are you from?" I had always wanted to ask him this since his accent was clearly British.

"I grew up in Holmes Chapel, over in Cheshire," he explained. His answer was short and clipped. His expression showed no emotion.

"And you?"

"A small town in Minnesota," As I said this I tried not to think about home. I tried not to think about Tom.

"So then what made you come her-" Harry started.

Thankfully our duck had arrived and cut him short. I honestly didn't think I could answer his question truthfully.

I shot Harry a small smile as we began to eat.

The duck was amazing. It was tender and it's crispy skin was mouthwatering. I moaned dramatically as I took my first bites, earning a cheeky smile from Harry.

He had been pretty quiet ever since mentioning his home, it seemed as if he were in deep thought too.

The soft music that had been playing finally gained my attention as Harry began to hum along. At the moment a piano version of "She Will Be Loved" played.

A few minutes later Harry let out the lyrics, his voice was deep and slightly edgy, but beautiful nonetheless. I had never heard him sing until now.

I looked at him with my eyebrows raised in amusement. Harry stared back at me blankly before realizing he had sung out loud.

"I'm sorry, that is one of my favorite songs," he explained with red cheeks.

My head shook side to side while I smiled brightly at him.

"Harry your voice is breathtaking, don't apologize," I told him honestly.

He shook it off as nothing and soon enough our dessert had come.

Most of the duck had been eaten by Harry, and I felt like I was going to puke soon if I ate anymore.

"Just one bite," Harry teased me while pointing his fork towards my face. Some of the apple tart had been scooped up on it.

I refused, but Harry kept bothering me. Then I accidentally leaned forward just as Harry did and the dessert was slathered across my nose and cheeks.

"Oh my god!" I hollered. Harry burst out laughing as I sat astonished by what just happened. After I took a moment to clear my face with a napkin at our table, I stood up and shoved the plate of dessert into Harry's face.

Now it was my turn to laugh.

His face was full of it and he spit out some of the tart that had gotten in his mouth. I was on the floor laughing and Harry finally broke out too.

Bravely, I pulled him down onto the floor with me and brought his lips to mine.

The kiss was soft and tentative, and I pulled away soon. Just as we were staring into each other's eyes, an annoyed voice cleared their throat.

We both looked up quickly to see our waiter standing there with a very pissed off manager at his side.
As we had been messing around, we didn't realize the disaster we made. Silverware was strewn around us, one of our glasses had tipped over, and dessert was all over the floor and chairs.

"Mr. Styles, you of all people should know that this behavior is not condoned here!" the manager scolded us, "Pay at the front desk and then leave the premises immediately!" By the end of his rant his face was red and his nostrils flared.

"Calm down, it's not even that big of a deal. Do you know how much I paid to get this room? More than you make each week! So excuse me if we have some fun you asshole." Harry spit back at the man.

By now Harry had stalked across the room and was arms length from the man.

I gulped in suspense, this was not good.

Standing up, I walked over and gently grabbed Harry's arm.

"It's fine, we are done anyways." I tried to calm him.

"No, it is definitely not fine Lucy!" He yelled back at me.

Maybe other people would take Harry's crap, but not me. I rolled my eyes at him and strutted out of the room to the front desk. Pulling out my card, I handed it over to the cashier.

Before the cashier could grab it, Harry came in the entrance and wrenched it away.

"What do you think you're doing?" he questioned me angrily.

I didn't even face him to reply.

"I'm paying since you would rather try to argue about something useless," I sassed him.

"Over my dead body," Harry said while paying for our meal.

Once he was done, I lead us out of the building and into the night. It was about eighty-thirty, and the city was about to come alive.

Harry's long arm reached out for mine and whipped me around to face him.

"Why are you mad?" He asked with his eyebrows knit in confusion.

"I'm not," I told him, "I just refuse to put up with your bullshit."

He shook his head before replying.

"Fair enough," he agreed, "you're too stubborn for your own good!"

I knew that was true, but I wouldn't admit it to him.

Soon enough Harry had hailed another cab and we were heading off to our next destination. As we neared busier streets, everything got more familiar. Then I remembered Harry said he lived closed to the place we were going to.

"Harry, I didn't know you lived so close to the Pike Place Market?" I whispered to him so the driver couldn't hear.

He smirked at me, "Lucy, I do live in Pike Place Market."

Just then we pulled up to a curb in front a building called The Triple Door. It looked like a theatre, but I didn't think Harry was the movie date type.

When we entered, several couches covered the floor below a stage. At the other end was a bar.
Harry lead the way and maneuvered through the place like he had been there before. We sat in the far right corner in front of the stage.

The building was nearly packed, and as I looked around I realized most of the people here were older than us. My eyes drifted up to the illuminated stage where instruments were placed all around.
Maybe we were listening to a band I concluded.

As I was about to ask Harry who was performing, the lights turned out and a hush went around the room. The deep voice of a man sounded out from the speakers around the building and he announced that the London Tone Music Celebration was about to begin. Now I was really excited, obviously Harry had taken the time to find us something to do that connected to him.

I peered over at him with a small smile on my face, he winked at me before the first performer walked out on stage and began their act.

Fifty-two acts performed, and by the end I was a little tipsy and was singing along. Workers would come by every so often and offer you more to drink. Harry always stayed quiet, but I had about three or four glasses of champagne throughout the night.

When the closing act finished, everyone stood up and gave their applause.

Everyone cleared out and we started our walk back to Harry's place. Like I said before, I was a little tipsy from the alcohol, so as we began towards Pike Place Market, I took off my shoes.

Feeling flirty from the champagne, I dared Harry.

"Let's play twenty questions!" I said excitedly while leaning on Harry's side.

Looking up at me amusedly, Harry chuckled, "Alright, but you answer my questions first."

I was ecstatic that he even agreed, so I nodded quickly.

"Okay... Favorite band?" He asked.

In a heartbeat I answered, "The Fray."

Wrapping his arm around my waist to support me, he chose his next question, "Favorite food?"

"Casey's Pizza duh!" My arms spread out in the air to show my point.

"What do you miss most about Minnesota?" Harry went on.

"Tom," I said the name before I could stop myself.

Harry turned to me and began to ask who he was, but I cut him off. There was no way I could discuss that.

"My turn mystery boy!" I teased, "So when did you come to Seattle?" I had decided to ask him that since I already knew that he listened to classic rock and loved almost any food.

"Six years ago, when I was eighteen." He informed me.

"Why?" I kept on.

"For boxing," again, his answers were clipped and deadpanned. He really didn't like talking about his past.

We came up to Harry's apartment, and stopped under a streetlight. He looked so handsome and I wish I could take him to bed with me right now.

"What?" Harry asked surprisedly.

Shit, I had said that out loud.

"If you wanted that, all you had to do was ask," Harry said before smashing his lips to mine.

Finding our way into the apartment, Harry picked me up and carried me down the hallway while we were still kissing.

Kicking open his bedroom door, he put me down on his bed before crawling on top.

His tongue slipped into my mouth, and my hands reached out to take his jacket off. As I worked to get his shirt off next, Harry slickly slipped my dress up, leaving me in my bra and underwear.

Harry licked his lips before going to kiss my neck.

I flipped us over so I was on top straddling him, but when I went to take off his belt, memories came flooding back to me.

Was this really how I wanted to lose my virginity? Half-drunk and still scared of my past?

Alarmed, I climbed off Harry and backed away from him.

"Lucy, what's the matter?" He asked with concern. His hands reached out for me, but I jerked away again.

"I-I don't want to do this," by this I meant have sex.

"You don't have to do anything you don't want to baby, just come here." Harry told me with open arms.

After I felt less pressured, I crawled back towards Harry and he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me to his chest. His hand combed through my hair while he sang softly to me.

Soon I was asleep in his hold with memories of a young girl and her brother.
