All I Ever Wanted

Baggage Claim

It’d been one whole week since the boys left. Zayn, Niall, and Harry were back in London, getting ready for their tour to start. I was stuck in a studio in LA recording. I missed home very badly. I needed my mom. We’d had a few phone calls the past week and I’d told her everything that happened. She told me to talk to Harry, which I’d obviously not done. I was too embarrassed to talk to him after yelling at him about our “relationship.” But what made it worse was that I didn’t even remember what was said.

Stupid alcohol.

Niall and Zayn had both texted me all week. I’d avoided mentioning Harry at all costs, and they must’ve sensed it because neither of them had brought up Harry. Not even once.

Thank God.

“Leah, we’re done recording today. Can I see you in my office, though?” Spencer interrupted my thoughts.

“Sure.” I hopped out of my chair and followed him down the hallway to his office.

“So, I’ve mentioned touring to you. I told you that management was going to let you decide whether or not to headline your own tour, or to just open up for someone, right?” He asked.

“Yes, that’s what you mentioned a few weeks ago.” I fidgeted with the zipper on my jacket. Talk of a tour still made me so nervous.

“Well, they’ve decided that you’re not making the decision anymore. Ron Thomas called me this morning and said that he’s booked you as an opener. You have rehearsals beginning next week. You’ll leave a month after that. I’ll call you with the details later. Ron also wants the new album finished within this next week so that we can release ASAP.”

“So, I don’t get time off before I leave for rehearsals? I’d really like to see my family, Spencer.” I protested. I was happy to be an opener because that would mean a little less stress, but not getting to see my family before I leave? That needed to be fixed.

“It depends on if we finish your album or not. You’ve still got four songs to cut.”

“Well then we’re not done recording today. I need to get one full song cut tonight, two tomorrow, one on Tuesday, and then reviews on Wednesday. I’ll be on a plane to Mississippi on Wednesday night, and then I’ll fly back here on Saturday so that we can leave for rehearsals together on Sunday. Come on Spencer, let’s go record.” I said, snapping my fingers while turning to get back into the studio room. Spencer jokingly rolled his eyes and followed me.

“Mom, I just miss him. I spent three full days with them when they were in LA and I made three really good friends.” I complained.

I’d been home for two days. It was Friday and I was so glad to be home, but I was missing Harry and the other two boys like crazy. I still hadn’t spoken to Harry, which it kind of pissed me off that he wasn’t trying to call me and make things okay. But then again, I wasn’t making any moves either. Zayn told me that Harry had been moping around since they’d left LA.

“You've also developed feelings.” She looked at me. “You didn’t say you missed ‘them,’ you said you missed ‘him.’ Leah, you need to talk to him!”

“I know, Mom. But I’m about to go on tour, he’s about to go on tour – we’ll never see each other. I think I should just leave it alone. It will resolve itself if I give it time, right?”

“You’ve waited a week. Tell me, have your feelings subsided?” She asked.

“No, I only miss him more.” I looked down at my hands.

“So do you think that you’ll stop missing him, or do you think that you’re only going to miss him more and then regret not calling him when you see that he’s moved on?” She made a good point.

Ugh, why did she have to make a good point?

“Okay. I’ll go call him.” I turned and headed for my room.

“That a girl!” My mom joked as she slapped me on the butt. I shot her a look and climbed the stairs. I flopped down on my bed and picked up my cell. I clicked Harry’s name and gulped.

I don’t even know how to start this. Oh God. What do I say?

It rang six times.

“Hi, it’s Harry. I can’t make it to the tele right now, so leave a message!”

Click. I hung up as fast as I could.

What was I thinking, calling him? He probably never wants to speak to me again. I’m such a little bitch.

“B-b-b-baby come on over. I don’t care if people find out.” It was my phone. Ringing. With Harry’s beautiful voice.

UGH. I really need to change that.

I peeked at the screen, fearing that Harry was actually calling me back. He wasn’t. It was Spencer. Probably calling me with tour details, because I was about to leave and I still didn’t know who I was even opening up for, or how long I’d be gone.

“Hey Spenc, what’s up?” I answered.

“I’ve got tour details! And I think you’re going to be very happy.” He emphasized the word “very” like a dramatic teenage girl.

“OH MY GOD I’M TOURING WITH BEYONCE!” I screamed, taking a wild guess.

“Um, no. Guess again. It’s someone you love.” Spencer was being annoying, as usual.

“If it’s not Justin Timberlake and you make me guess again, I’ll come through the phone to strangle you.” I joked.

“One Direction!” Spencer beamed through the phone. “You’re touring with the hottest boy band in the world! Plus, you’re friends with them! Yay!”

Oh no. No no no no no no no no no no no no no! This is all wrong. It’s a nightmare. Wake up.

I pinched myself.

“Ow!” I yelped.

“What’s wrong?!” Spencer seemed worried.

“Nothing, just seeing if this was a dream or not.”

“It's not! The lead singer of the band that was opening for them has to have his tonsils removed and his doctor said no singing for four months. It was a last minute deal. This was the most coveted opener spot, but Ron knew someone on their crew and he pulled some strings! Leah, do you know how many girls would kill to have this opportunity? Good luck, kiddo! I’m so proud of you! See ya at the airport tomorrow!” Spencer hung up.

I let the phone fall out of my hands as I tried to wrap my mind around the phone call that had just taken place.

(Harry’s POV)

Two weeks... God, I miss her like crazy. Why is she so stubborn? I miss her, but at the same time I’m so pissed at her. How could she kiss Zayn? I mean he obviously has nice cheekbones, but come on? Then yell at me about our ‘relationship?’ Bullshit. What exactly is our ‘relationship’ anyways? Maybe if I just tell her how I feel, this will all work out. But then again, she probably never wants to hear from me again.

“Harry, mate, we have a band meeting!” Louis called out.

We were going through rehearsals for our upcoming tour. We leave in a little over a month and even though I’m going to miss Leah, time away will be good for me.

Maybe I can finally get over her. For fuck's sake, we're both too stubborn to be together anyways.

I hopped off of the side of the stage where I was sitting and headed backstage into a room. We met with Paul and he began to lecture us on touring for the millionth time.

“Oh and also, I forgot to mention. You have a new opener. Leah Sadler, I believe is her name. She’s an American pop star. Please none of you hit on her and make her uncomfortable like the charming, little bastards I know you are.” Paul chuckled as my heart dropped into my stomach.

“Too late.” Niall mumbled, sending the other lads into waves of laughter. Paul didn’t hear Niall and just assumed they were laughing at his comment.

“That’s all, lads. Rehearsal’s over. Have a good evening!” Paul grinned and exited the room, leaving the five of us alone.

“Harry, you won’t make her uncomfortable, will ya?” Niall laughed, poking me in the side.

“But really though, you two aren’t speaking. How is this even going to work?” Liam looked concerned for me.

Zayn kept quiet.

That’s funny. He’s the reason this whole thing is uncomfortable. Right? Dammit. No. It’s me. And the fact that I brought the brunette home that night. Leah was there. How could I be such an idiot? I would have never hurt her, had I been sober. I have to call her.

“Hey mate.” I looked up to see Zayn. The other lads had left the room. “Look, I never really got the chance to sincerely apologize. I was drunk. I felt bad for Leah, seeing you with the other girl. And then she kissed me. So I didn't stop her. It was a shitty thing to do. We cool?”

“Yeah, mate." I let out a long sigh. "It was my fault anyways. I just played around with her too much. I was stupid and stubborn. I’m going to call her.” I realized how big of a dick I’d been.

“She’d probably like that.” Zayn smiled.

“You’ve kept in touch? How is she?!”

“Good. But she doesn’t know what to think about you. She’s hurt you haven’t called. But she’s also embarrassed about what happened. She doesn’t remember a thing. I haven’t spoken with her since she’s been added to our tour though. That was the first I’d heard of it.” Zayn explained.

“She doesn’t remember that night? She was that drunk? Good!” I said aloud.

Zayn looked confused.

“Thanks, mate!” I brushed past him and ran for my phone.

I had to call her.

------------------------------

(Leah’s POV)

“Hi Trace family!” I yelled, giving Spencer, his wife, and each of their two kids a hug.

I was back in LA and they’d invited me to stay the night in their home since Spencer and I had to catch a flight to London in the early morning hours. It was Saturday evening and still no word from Harry. Zayn and Niall had both sent me texts saying how excited they were about me joining their tour. I was finally excited, trying to push aside my feelings for Harry.

“Glad you made it safely!” Spencer said.

Amy showed me to my room and I got ready for bed. Our flight left early, which meant we had to be at the airport even earlier.

“B-b-b-baby come on over, I don’t care if people find out.”

I still need to change that.

Harry’s voice still tortured me every time someone called, but I’d found an excuse not to change my ringtone each time I’d thought about it. I rummaged through my purse and found my phone.

Harry. Oh great.

I clicked the ‘ignore’ button and tried to doze off to sleep, but soon after I’d ignored the call, my phone buzzed, alerting me of a voicemail. I unlocked my phone and hit the play button next to Harry’s voicemail.

“Hi Leah, it’s Harry. Look, I know I’ve been a real arse. I want to apologize. I knew you were drunk, but I didn’t know you were completely wasted. Zayn filled me in tonight. I was mad at him – and you. I thought you remembered it all. I’m sorry. I feel like I can never say it enough. I hope you’ll forgive me, Leah. See you soon.”

I threw my phone back into my purse and rolled over in bed. The tears came quickly and I wiped my dampened cheeks. I couldn’t tell if my tears were happy tears because Harry did truly care, if they were tears of fear because I’d never felt these feelings before, or if they were a little bit of both.

---------------------------------

(Harry’s POV)

Where is she? Surely she’s getting ready to come to London. Why won’t she answer? Is she that mad at me?

Thoughts raced through my mind as I drove home from rehearsal. I needed her to answer. Niall said he’d texted her and found out that we wouldn’t get to see her until Monday, but that she’d arrive in London tomorrow morning. I knew what I had to do. I took a sudden turn and pressed the gas.

--------------------------

(Leah’s POV)

I walked through the airport terminal with Spencer and the rest of our tour crew following behind. We’d finally arrived in London. They’d given me today off so that I could settle in and get rid of any jet lag I may have caught.

So far, so good!

I didn’t have to see any of the boys until tomorrow. I didn’t know if I wanted to see Harry yet. I didn’t call him back. I didn’t know what to say. I had so much to say, but didn’t know how or where to start.

“Grab your bag! I’ll meet you right over there so we can get a car, okay?” Spencer motioned towards a desk that appeared to be for rental cars.

“Okay, sure.” I called out.

I walked to the baggage claim and grabbed my suitcase. I turned around to look for Spencer, but my eyes fell directly on someone else. Someone I wasn’t expecting. He was looking straight at me with a tired, desperate look on his face. We held each other’s gaze for a moment, but I couldn’t take it any longer. I dropped my suitcase and took off towards him. My walk turned into a run, pushing past innocent, slow-moving travelers. I laughed as he began to run towards me and when we met, I leapt into his arms. I wrapped my legs around his waist as his hands cradled me underneath my bum. He held me and I buried my face into his chest.

“Love, look at me.” Harry leaned back and tried to find my eyes. I wiped away a few stray tears tears and looked at him. My emotions had taken over. I didn't know what it was but I just wanted Harry and I to be on good terms. Deep down I knew it was because I was developing feelings but I pushed that away as concern filled his features.

“It’s okay. Why are you crying?”

“Because I feel like we’ve gotten off to such a bad start. I care about you so much but our relationship so far has been shit, Harry. We’ve already had to start over once. But I want to start over again. I want to treat you right this time. I’ve been such a bitch and I feel bad.” I wiped more tears that had fallen onto my cheeks.

"I'm the one who's been an arse! I want to start it all over too, but just so you know I can’t change how much I care about you.” His face was completely serious and I knew he meant what he said.

“I can’t not care about you either. But can we just forget all the bad? I just need you in my life, Harry.”

I laid my head on his shoulder. He was standing in the middle of the airport, holding me. I’m sure we were getting funny looks but all I cared about in that moment was Harry.

“And I just need you. So today we’re starting over fresh. No bad. All good. Just you and me.”

He kissed my forehead and I hopped down out of his arms. He intertwined his fingers with mine and we headed towards the baggage claim to grab the bags that I’d left behind.
