Darling I'm No Angel

Secret Afflictions

"By the pricking in my thumbs, something wicked this way comes." Sebastian's voice faded in and out like he was the narrator in a play. I arose from the floor letting the contents in my hand descend to the ground. His presence alone startled me.

"Is there any reason you're in here reciting Macbeth?" I asked keeping my stance behind the bed.

"I stopped by this morning and you weren't in here. I thought something might've happened to you to the point where I paged for my mom. I looked all through the halls to try and find where you were." He said with his tall frame blocking my exit. I thought over my options carefully and fast. Option number one I could scream from the top of my lungs for help. Option number two run up to him an kick him oh so painfully in the groin. Or option three avoid doing the first two options and analyze his character some more.

"Why would you call for your mother?" I asked him. The answer immediately rang bells in my head just as quickly as I asked him. Yesterday before Beth and left she said his last name was Ross. Assuming she was referring to Sebastian and not the person she had been instant messaging. And it just so happens my doctor's last name ends in Ross. It was almost too perfect to be just a coincidence.

"Is your mom Dr.Ross?" He opened his mouth like he wanted to laugh, my cluelessness seemed to have been utterly amusing to him.

"Yeah." He said casually like none of this whatsoever seemed out of the ordinary. I kept on asking him a series of question but not single syllable escaped my mouth. I was too busy have the conversation in my head. "Christian-Sorry I mean Sebastian" His eyes widened and he urged froward.

"You still know who I am?' He asked so excitedly. That's when I began to worry.

"A friend told me your name." I said nervously tugging the end of my jacket. His expression transcended from an exerted eagerness to a growing annoyance. He rubbed the temples on his head as if he was soothing a brain freeze.

"You acted as if you had never seen me before and you just happened upon my necklace." My voice bellowed. With this new found sense of confidence I questioned him not entirety knowing how he would respond.

"I didn't steal that insignificant piece of jewelry you dropped it." Sebastian yelled. "It was an act of kindness by me bringing it back." He said letting out a confined sigh. Just like that he was calmer. His tone became slightly more remorseful. I should just let it go dropped the subject and sent him on his way. Why of all days do I choose to come out of my bubble?

"How could I have dropped something that I wasn't wearing? Unless you been in here before?" I said feeling the bottomless pit in my stomach ache.

"What's going on in here?" Dr.Ross said entering the room stunned to see her son in here. She was looking at him, he was looking at me, and I was seeing blurs where people should've been.

"Victoria is everything alright are you okay?" She said sounding concerned for me. I focused on the wall behind her. I could have told her how fucked up her son could potentially be. Accusing him of being a complete creep didn't seem to describe him yet. I want to know more about him before I scare him away. As crazy as that may seem on my behalf. Of course I didn't trust him that would be foolish of me. But there is a part in my mind that has a lingering feeling about him. Just as Harry said earlier referencing a ripple effect its a continuing pattern I can't seem to break.

Like before with Harry I thought I was seeing a dead figure right before my eyes. When in fact I had known him all along. It's no surprise that I recognized Sebastian as soon as I laid eyes on him. I had obviously seen him before our encounters in the hospital. Harry's knows that, Beth knows, and without warning his mother who has been treating me as a patient is aware of the matter.

"Yes I was just getting help cleaning this mess." I said motioning my hands to the floor. I could tell she was thinking if I was lying or not. And without seeming presumptions she said nothing more about it.

"You shouldn't be here you know that?" She warned Sebastian.

"I know but like she said it was borderline chaotic in here and I was the perfect guy for the job." This guy was doing a terrible job at being inconspicuously alarming. "I should head out." Sebastian kissed his mother on the check and she gave a forewarning look.

"Victoria it's always a pleasure." He said taking his final steps out.

Dr.Ross and I looked at each other like we both shared the same thought. I knew for a fact we didn't. I climbed over the bed and sat at the head fluffing the lonely pillow. "More bad news?" I asked Dr.Ross.

"What? No not at all." She said coming back from her train of thought. "So what is it?" I ask with skeptical curiosity.

"Discharge papers." She smiled.

"And I was just getting to use to the twenty cable channels and the gourmet meals known as jello" I said with every bit of sarcasm. I grew exasperated being in here and the thought of me being able to finally walk outside and seeing the huge red hospital sign behind me makes me ironically want to die of excitement. "How soon can I leave?" I stood.

"Uh is either one of your parents around?" She asked me. "I haven't seem them around. Aren't I of age now to hear whatever you have to say without a parent or legal guardian?" I quizzed.

"You certainly are I just thought your mom or dad would want to be informed." Dr.Ross said faking a smile that most doctors do to conceal the real and very often harsh truth.

"Okay I'll pass the message if you would say it. Please?" I begged liked an adolescent.

"Your last name appears to be different in our records and in the Bridgeton Hospital in Maine. It's more than likely an error. It's just imperative that we get it resolved."

All I could do was nod my head. It wasn't anything serious I told myself, it was just another mistake. Nothing to show the least bit of concern to. "Does this phone make outgoing calls." I asked her talking aside from the subject.

"Oh yes just press eight then dial the number you wish to call." She informed me.

"Thank you." Once Dr.Ross left also known as Sebastian's mother. I leaned over and grabbed the hospital's phone and pulled it into my lap. Pressing eight first as instructed I dialed Beth's number. Listening to the long ringing sound I couldn't get my leg to stop shaking and I bit down on my bottom lip too hard I started to pull off skin by accident.

"Hello..?" Beth voiced chimed.

"Hey it's me Victoria more bizarre shit is happening again!" I cried out into the receiver.

"What do you mean by more? Everything is all hunkey dorey. I have to go I'm putting together a surprise that I reckon you are going to just love." She said talking swiftly.

"Beth I'm in partial to anymore surprises." I professed.

"I'm hanging up now." She sang. "Are you chatting with Victoria?" I heard another voice say. The dial tone began to beep, Beth ended the call. I stayed sitting there with the phone up to my ear.
