Xenophobia

THIRTY THREE

It had been three weeks since Adrian had taken Khai out on a date. They went to an arcade where Khai kicked his ass in air hokey but he got his retribution when he came out with the most tickets at the end of the night. It was the most fun she had had since the abrupt departure of Harry. Her laughs were genuine and the dull within her eyes were replaced with glistening adoration for the boy who had given her back her smile.

It had been two weeks since Adrian asked Khai to be his girlfriend. It was taken as a shock to the young girl, but nevertheless, she had said yes. The two were inseparable since. They did everything single thing together. He helped her shop for a new wardrobe, she taught him how to bake a cake from scratch. Every waking moment was spent with Adrian.

Khai learnt a lot about him within the course of the three weeks, and she continued to every single day. She learnt that he hated, absolutely despised mustard. How he would slightly stick his tongue out in the midst of a laugh. His favorite color was red and he was the eldest of four children. His mother owned a small flower shop while his father was a manager for a top shot business that sold tropical juice. His family was sweet, and she knows this because she met them. The day Khai agreed to be his girlfriend, Adrian took her to meet them. His three little sisters, Marissa, Clarissa (who were twelve year old twins) and Aaliyah, took an immediate liking to her. As well did his father and mother. Dinner was served and it was an endless conversation filled with laughs and snickers among the seven.

Melissa had also met her daughter's new love interest. She was more than happy her daughter had finally found someone (as well as his family) who accepted her, for her. That brings us to the next time frame. A week; it had been a week since Melissa had taken notice of a change in her daughter. It had also been a week since the two had a huge argument.

"You have a problem with everyone I take home!" Khai screamed.

Her mother let out an exasperated sigh. "It's not that, sweetheart. Something is just off about that young man. I don't want you seeing him."

"Mom-"

"No, Khai," Melissa cut her off. "You live under my house you go by my rules."

With that, Khai stormed upstairs. With all the anger in the world, she took out a duffle bag in which she shoved man pieces of clothing, money and toiletries. So, it had now been a week since Khai has been living with Anna, the girl she met at the bonfire.

Adrian's house was not big enough to hold another occupant, so he called up his best friend begging her to accept her into her home. It was more than easy to convince her, telling her he would buy her anything she wanted from Victoria's Secret.

Anna's home was not homey at all. The one story building was situated half a mile away from Melissa's house. It reeked out alcohol and weed. Khai was confused as to how her parents allowed her to treat the house like this, but she soon learned that her parents were both anthropologists who have been living in Zimbabwe for the past seven months for work. The house was hers until they returned.

It had been a week since Khai would have to wake up at 5am everyday to allow Adrian to drop her at school on time. With the early morning traffic and Adrian having to drive back a mile away to catch his morning bell, it was understandable why she had to wake up at such a time.

Despite her current situation, Khai had still managed to keep her grades up. She was at the top of her AP biology and English class. With SAT exams merely two months away, she was on her way to a bright future.

Currently, she is sat on the couch skipping through the channels on the tv, not particularly interested in watching anything though. She was thinking. Thinking about why her mother would behave in such a manner. She couldn't decipher what would make her not trust Adrian. He was the complete opposite of Harry. Wouldn't she have liked that? Is it that she just wants her to remain single for the rest of her life?

Times like this Khai wish Blue was able to pick up his phone. But seeing that he is in England for the semester, she had no other choice but to sulk in her own doubt and misunderstanding.

Notes

I have no motivation to write this story anymore. Im hurriedly trying to get it done so if my chapters are sloppy, that's the reason. I don't think anyone enjoys this story and quite frankly I don't blame you. It's turned to shit.

So so expect the end of this book to come within the end of the day or maybe the week.

@Anobrxin
You're very welcome! And Wattpad is a great community. I also, myself, write on there. I say go for it when you're ready. :)

@One Direction 1O1
Thank you for your love and kind words. I'm so happy you enjoyed this story despite the very abrupt ending. I do intend on writing again. Maybe on wattpad perhaps to gain a wider audience, maybe it would be here once again. I'm not sure, but I will definitely let you know. All the love to you xx
