“Hello. My name is Katherine Patern. I am 20 years old, and I am from England. My dad is from India, and my mom is from England, so I grew up with two different languages. I now master four different languages; English, Indian, Arabic and Hebraic. I’m language officer in the English army, which has been my dream job as long as I can remember. I’m about to go on my third mission. The last two times I went to India, but now I’m going to Syria for a year.
I’m going with a new patrol though, since they’re language officer got shot at their last mission. I don’t know anybody in the patrol, all I know is that it is a mixed group, so we’re both boys and girls.”
Katherine becomes good friends with four guys in the troop; Niall, Liam, Harry and Louis, but also comes of on the wrong foot with the soldier Zayn. He hates Katherine from the moment he meets her, why she doesn’t know. Both Harry and Liam takes an interest in her though, but she only likes one of them.
But you cannot date any soldier from your troop, so it will be a difficult year.
With death and big shootings around the corner, the emotions will be at it‘s highest.
