Life, Cars and One Direction... Wait What?!

Chapter 32: Just make sure you don't agree to anything you don't want to

Codie’s POV
I sat next to Louis on the lounge, in trackies and a jumper. My eyes were closed as I listened to him and the boys talking about ideas for a new single. They thought I might be able to help them out a little with another of my random yet awesome ideas. I hadn’t had one yet, so I was waiting.
“Okay, how about we’re singing about a girl who broke it off with us?” Harry said.
“How about we sing about wanting the girl that has a boyfriend?” Liam offered.
“How about-” Zayn started but I cut him off.
“How about you sing the exact same songs that you have previously done?” I asked them.
“Hmm, she has a point.” Louis agreed with me.
“Ooh ooh, I got it!” Niall shouted, his hand shooting up like we were in class.
“Yes, the fake blonde in the back.” I pointed lazily to him.
“We sing about food.” He smiled after speaking with his Irish accent.
“Great idea, I’ve got the first lines…
Starbucks
Doritos
Don't forget
Nandos!” I said from the top of my head. All of them were giving me weird looks. “What? It was Niall’s idea.” I backed myself up.
“Love, I think you’re a little tired.” Louis patted my head, my eyes drooped down to close themselves.
“Well, you should know I am.” I corrected him.
“Just make sure you don't agree to anything you don't want to, okay?” he told me as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders, pulling me down to rest on the side of his chest. I curled my legs up and put my casted hand on his stomach. Thank god I broke my left hand and not my right. I probably wouldn’t be able to live if I broke my right one. I heard them talking more as I slowly went to sleep. I heard my name in a question, I waved my hand in an annoyed way.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” I think I just agreed to something I didn’t want to, just like Louis told me not to. I eventually fell asleep and had a dreamless night.
***
I stretched my arms and found myself in bed, Louis fast asleep next to me. No wonder, it was two in the morning. I was hungry and I needed to go to the toilet. I got up and fixed myself before getting back into bed.
“Where’d you go?” Louis asked while yawning.
“Just to get some food and go to the toilet, don't worry I wasn’t with some other guy.” I assured him.
“Because I was so worried.” He tried speaking sarcastically with his morning voice. By ‘tried’ I mean ‘failed epically’.
“You really should have been.” I ruffled his hair, smiling at how tired he looked.
“For some reason I wasn’t.” he told me bluntly.
“Well excuse me Mr. Tude.” I shortened the attitude to ‘tude’. ‘Cos I can.
“You’re excused.” He went along with it, eyes practically closed. I lay back down next to him and faced his beautiful face.
“Thank you my love.” I told him, before turning away from him to check the time. Before I could turn back around his arms were wrapped around my waist, his head behind mine. Our bodies as close as we could get.
“That’s okay.” He whispered into my neck.
“What did I agree to last night?” I asked him before I forgot.
“To release a single.” He answered simply.
“How does that have anything to do with One Direction and your new one?” I asked a question that was probably too long for two in the morning.
“Well, you said we had to do something different…” he drifted off.
“And…”I wanted to know where this was going.
“We’re going to feature in it, well, mainly me but all of us.” He fell asleep again as soon as he finished that sentence. I was too tired to get angry or whatever I do.
“Whatever.” I said before closing my eyes again, just happy to be in Louis’ arms. Sleep took over me again, and again I had no dreams.
***
Why did I agree to that shit? It was fairly stupid of me, but I was half asleep. Stuff that, I was over ¾ asleep. I was practically asleep and on cruise control. I wondered what the song was going to sound like, if I was going to want to sing it. By Louis saying ‘mainly me but all of us’, I had no idea how the song was going to work. That’s six of us, singing one song. Six people, one song. How was that going to work with all of us, I had no idea how the song was going to work. That’s six of us, singing one song. Six people, 3 choruses, 2 verses, 1 bridge. How was that going to work?
What the hell. Why did I agree to that? It would be something different for them, but why me? Why was it always poor little me? Aha, I will do it. But it will be my song on my album. It would be a whole lot of covers with the song we are about to write and my original from Louis’ birthday party.
Yes. It sounds like a plan. A good plan, an amazing plan. A fool proof plan. So fool proof Niall could pull it off. That might be a bit harsh, but you get my gist. I get out of bed and walk to the kitchen. Hmm, what to have for breakfast…
I looked at the clock. Really, one o’clock? Really? Okay then. I shout at the top of my lungs to everyone in the household. “YO, IF YOU WANT PANCAKES MOVE YOUR ASS NOW!!!” I begin to hear footsteps coming to the dining room and I set myself up in the kitchen. If there was one thing I could do apart from dancing, singing or driving… it was cooking pancakes. For the amount of people here I think I would need one and a half of my recipe. A cup and a half of self-rising flour, a cup and a half of plain flour, a cup and a half of milk and two eggs. Whoops, don't forget the vanilla essence. Maybe you should have chocolate buttons as well. Yes, another great idea.
I grabbed bags of white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate buttons. I put a handful of each in the mix and stirred it before putting it on the frying pan and cooking them. Louis came into the kitchen and hugged me from behind as I stood watching my pancakes cooking.
“Can I help in any way?” he asked, resting his chin on the top of my head.
“You could get the maple syrup out, and some other things like lemon and sugar and caramel topping.” I instructed, pointing to a cupboard where I thought the things I was talking about would be.
“Yeah, they’re the other side of the kitchen.” He walked the other way. Not my fault I have my kitchen around the other way. Jeez, way to be mean there.
When I finished cooking them I stacked them on two plates, and got the vanilla ice cream out of the freezer and an ice cream scoop. This was going to be nice. Maybe not healthy, but it would be yummy. No doubt about that.
I put the plates down on the table after setting everything else out, and sat down in between Louis and Harry. “What should our breakfast conversation be?” I asked everyone sitting around the table.
“Where are we gonna go tonight?” Harry offered, just before eating half a pancake in one bite.
“Good question. Now go ahead and answer it my pretties!” I said with a Russian accent. Don't ask why it was Russian, because I have no idea.
I kind of spaced out for the rest of the conversation, not really wanting to know until I got there. Yeah, I probably should have listened. I did not want to go to the zoo. Seriously, I’ve been there too much for my liking.
*5 months later*
“Why can’t you choose the dress already?” Louis protested. I had both of my hands back now, and I still had seven months of freedom left. I had practically finished recording my album, and was just waiting for them to finish editing it.
“Because I don't like any of them!” I shouted back. Louis had an interview to go to and I didn’t pack any dresses, so I have to buy a new one. And I couldn’t be bothered with skinny jeans. Moving on to the next shop I spotted something in a window. “Don't worry, your pain may be over soon.” I walked into the shop and found the dress I was looking for.
“Do you like anything in here?” he pleaded.
“Maybe, I just need to try it on.” I grabbed the dress and walked to the change rooms. When I walked out in the dress, it felt alright. It wasn’t too prissy and I thought it suited me well.
“That one will do, now can we please go back home?” Louis asked me.
“Well, excuse me, but I do need to make sure I like it okay?” I turned around and looked at the back of the dress. It looked alright, I suppose… maybe. It would have to do.
“Do you?” he was practically asleep while he was walking around, sunglasses on.
“Meh, it’ll do. I suppose I’ll get over it if I don't.” I got changed, back into trackies and one of Louis’ jumpers. It was a style I had adapted for England, considering it was always freezing.
“Great. Look, I’ll pay for it so you don't have to worry about that.” He offered as I walked out of the change room, towards the counter.
“Sure. That way I can blame you if I actually decide I no longer like it.” I told him as he got out his wallet. “I love the way you just pay for all of my clothes.”
“I just love you.” He hugged me from the side as I got the money out.
“I love you too.” I responded.
Louis’ POV
So, yeah. Interview. Yeah. Fun. Mhm, not much to say really. I was just glad that Codie chose a dress finally. Now I had to find some clothes. Even more fun. My god I was way too tired for this… way too tired.
Hmm, I should probably have something that involves caffeine… or sugar… or caffeine. Yes, caffeine sounds good. How should I have it though? “LOUIS! WHY DON’T YOU HAVE ANY ICED COFFEE?!” I heard Codie shouting.
“YOU KNOW YOU COULD MAKE ONE!!!” I shouted back.
“HAVE YOU EVER HEARD THE SLOGAN ‘IT’S A FARMER’S UNION OR IT’S NOTHING’?!” She shouted back to me.
“NO!” I answered her.
“NO WONDER YOU AREN’T BLOODY SOUTH AUSTRALIAN!!!” she shouted before walking into the room. She put the kettle on and grabbed out the coffee, sugar and milk.
“What are you doing?” I asked her.
“What does it look like? I’m making an iced coffee.” She looked at her ingredients. “Damn, forgot the ice.” She went to the freezer and grabbed some ice cubes and put them on the bench. She put a few spoons of coffee in the milkshake thing with some sugar. She then added a tiny bit of boiling water and stirred it before adding milk and the ice cubes. She put the lid on the shaker and shook it altogether. She started singing again, I think it was something she always does when she’s making a milkshake kind of thing.
“My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard
And they’re like
It’s better then yours
And damn right
It’s better than yours
I could teach you
But I have to charge.”
She continued singing until she stopped shaking the milkshake-iced coffee thing. “Do you always sing that when you make a milkshake?” I asked her.
“Well, what do you think?” she asked back.
“I think… yes.” I took a while to answer.
“There you go.” She said, drinking it as she walked out of the room.
“You know we’re leaving in half an hour for the interview right?” I asked her. She spat her mouthful back into the cup.
“Excuse me?” she asked nicely, maybe a bit too sweetly.
“We are leaving in half an hour.” I repeated in a shorter sentence.
“Shit.” She held the cup steady as she ran to our room and slammed the door to get changed. When she came out again, her hair was loosely curled, she was wearing heels for the first time in ages, and her dress was sparkling like a diamond. She looked so beautiful, I barely noticed everyone else walking in the room.
“Lou, we have to go now.” Liam said as our car pulled up in front of the house.
“Okay.” I was still staring at Codie. Why did she still do this to me? Why could I feel my cheeks turning red? I walked up to her and hugged her.
“I love you Codie. Never forget it.” I told her.
“Don’t worry, I won’t.”
