Life, Cars and One Direction... Wait What?!
Chapter 23: Hopefully she wouldn't kill me
Louis’ POV
So, here I am, sitting and waiting for Codie to come out of her room. I was kind of worried as to what would happen. She would probably kill me, personally hunt me down and hang my head on her wall, make it very painful. She wouldn’t let me get away with it, unless she was really, really tired… nope, she’d still kill me. You should probably know what I did, so you would know why she’s gonna kill me.
I drove her car, her Ferrari, with one hand.
Now don’t tell me how stupid I am and tell me I deserve it, let me explain. She had fallen asleep, and so I decided to drive her home instead of waking her up. I knew then that if I woke her up she would have been in a grumpy mood and it would have been an awkward drive home. Now I’ve thought about it would have been a better idea to, instead of what would probably happen now. But, I had a distraction for her, so hopefully she wouldn’t kill me...
I heard footsteps coming from her room, so I got everything ready and watched her walk in. by her hair and voice I think she only just woke up, about five seconds ago. She stood still for a couple of seconds with her hands out, looking like she was trying to regain her balance. Then she left the room and came back with a Farmers Union Iced Coffee. She chugged down a few mouthfuls before talking to me.
“How did I get back here and how did I get in my pyjamas?” she asked me with a croaky voice.
“Well, um-” I had practiced what I was going to say but now she was in front of me I couldn’t say it.
“How did I get here, Louis William Tomlinson?” she was starting to get a little annoyed now.
“Well, I drove home in your car and I got you changed.” I said.
“You did what?” she said calmly holding her Iced Coffee.
“I drove home in your Ferrari and changed you into your pyjamas.” I said more specifically. That resulted in an awkward silence.
Codie’s POV
Motherf*cking bastard.
Louis’ POV
I have no idea what’s going on in her head, and for some reason I don’t think I really want to… we stared at each other for about ten minutes.
“Are you going to say anything sometime soon or not?” I asked her.
“What can I say?” she said slowly.
“I don’t know, you could shout or something. Do what you normally do or give me a lecture, or say something in general.” I offered.
“I don’t think that I can be bothered right now. Just give me a few more minutes to finish my iced coffee.” She said before sitting on the couch next to me while we watched cartoons. When she finished her iced coffee she had her thinking face on. Now I was going to cop it.
“So you drove my car with a broken arm?” I heard her ask me.
“Yesssss.” I said through my teeth.
“So, how did you not get lost?” she asked me next.
“Phone.” I was keeping my answers short so she could understand what I was saying.
“So not only were you driving, in my Ferrari, with a broken arm… you were using your phone at the same time?” she said quietly.
“Yes.” I said kind of regretting it afterwards.
“You. Did. That?” she stated and asked.
“Mmhhmm.” I agreed with her.
“What the f*ck was going on in your head huh?” she paused to stand up and act out me and my thoughts. “‘Oh, nah, Codie won’t mind at all. She’ll be fine with it, considering all of this I think I might get her changed as well.’” Then she snapped out of her British boy accent and back to her strong Australian one. She was good at impersonations. “Wait a minute, you changed me into my pyjamas.” She sounded like she just figured out a really hard maths equation.
“Yeah.” I said to make sure she knew what happened.
“Excuse me?” she said hoping that she had misheard me.
“Yes I did.”
“YOU CHANGED ME OUT OF MY BLOODY CLOTHES AND INTO MY PYJAMAS! YOU SAW ME IN MY BLOODY UNDERWEAR?! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING, HUH? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ABOUT THE ENTIRE IDEA? I WILL NEVER LET YOU IN MY CAR AGAIN! EVER! WHY DID YOU-”She was having a rant and I decided to cut her off.
“YOU WERE ASLEEP AND I THOUGHT YOU WOULD BE IN A SHITTTY MOOD IF I WOKE YOU UP OKAY?!” I got her attention. “I thought it would be better if I drove you home than to have an awkward one with neither of us talking the whole way.” I explained in a quiet voice.
“I suppose you have a point.” She agreed with me sitting down again and cuddling up to my side.
“Of course I do.” I decided to agree with her. I may have won the argument, but she came up with the conclusion herself. My arm wrapped around her shoulder as she rested her head on the side of my ribcage.
“I can be a bitch sometimes, can’t I?” She asked me next.
“I suppose so, though I haven’t seen you really bad yet.” I responded.
“Excuse me?” she asked me, giving me a chance to take it back.
“I mean, no. you are the nicest person in the world. If anyone were to call you a bitch I would slap them with my cast.” I corrected myself.
“Excuse me?” she said again. I think she wanted something in between the two, but I couldn’t come up with anything.
“Fine then, you are absolutely perfect. In every way no one can possibly beat you, ever, at all.” I said, unsure if that’s what she wanted to hear.
“I am so not perfect.” She said to herself.
“Fine, I give up. On a completely different note, I taped the news this morning to find out if you or Whincup won the thingy.” I said getting the remote and attempting to find the recording. We watched the news bulletin and when the topic finally came on about ‘Adelaide’s favourite V8 driver’ she sat up straight and paid attention.
“Louis, what if no one likes me and I got no votes?” she asked me like a five year old.
“Not possible, I voted for you. So you’ll at least have one.” That probably wasn’t the best I could say but it would do for now, hopefully.
“Lou, that’s kind of sweet but not very supportive.” She said, looking me straight in the eyes. I could look into her ocean coloured eyes for all eternity, listen to her voice as she reads the phone book. I never wanted to let her go, ever. She probably deserved better than me though, a lot better. I would never be good enough for her, no matter how much I tried. While I had been lost in thought she had apparently turned and watched the thing, because the next thing I knew she was shaking my shoulders.
“Louis, I won! Adelaide actually likes me! Oh, I am gonna thrash Whincup’s arse on the weekend!” she was shouting other random stuff like that while jumping around and waving her arms like an idiot.
“I knew you would.” I said when she calmed down, and I pulled her in for a kiss. I never wanted this moment to end, for us to be apart. Her lips tasted like iced coffee, but I didn’t care. I just wanted this to last forever. I never wanted to leave here again. I wanted to live with her, stay here in Australia. But I wanted to see my family, like when I was with Eleanor. I could always see her when I saw my family. I suddenly pulled away from her, why did I think of Eleanor when I had kissed Codie? Had I imagined that I was kissing Eleanor? I looked down to my feet, embarrassed to look at Codie.
She may have said something or asked me what’s wrong but I had already gotten into my room and shut the door behind me.
Codie’s POV
What did I do? Did I kiss him wrong or what? Maybe something was going on in his head. Well, I should let him calm down. I won’t push him too far, we were both really tired and maybe that was the reason. I was happy for a minute back there, I mean that would had to have wiped the smile off of Whincup’s face for at least a few minutes or seconds at least.
I walked down to the bottom floor and talked with each of the boys, seeing what their thoughts were on my house. All of them thought it was awesome apart from Niall, he thought I didn’t have enough food in the house.
***
Louis had been really distant all day yesterday after we kissed. It’s Tuesday, I had my interview thing today, but I changed the day for next week. When the household isn’t in such a mess. There are clothes everywhere, and I mean everywhere. There’s a shirt and about five pairs of pants in my lounge room alone, and I don’t want to know what else is beneath the couch pillows.
“HOUSE MEETING! MY LOUNGE ROOM! NOW!!!” I screamed to the world.
“Yo, what up?” Harry tried to rap.
“That failed epically.” Liam said.
“Get on the, the
Fail whale, yeah
The fail whale” Niall started singing randomly.
“Shut up mate.” Zayn told him.
“Fine then, you are now shunned.” Niall said covering Zayn’s face with his hands.
“And that’s a bad thing?” Zayn said.
“Shunned.” Niall reminded him. Louis came in the room but was silent and standing in the corner. Why wasn’t he talking to me? Seriously, I know I can be a little off, but never like that. Especially over nothing.
“Alright, I don’t know about you guys but I think we really need to clean up the house.” I told them.
“I think the house looks fine.” Harry claimed.
“Excuse me?” I asked him. “It looks like five pigs have been living in the house. Oh wait, they have.” I said sarcastically.
“Hey, just because I eat a lot does not classify me as a pig.” Niall told me.
“Ah, but you eat anything, just like a pig. But, you don’t clean up after yourself and apparently pigs are the cleanest animals, so I suppose you’re not.” I kind of agreed with him but not at the same time.
“Well, I don’t think the house is necessarily dirty.” Zayn added.
“I don’t care what you think, I care what I think and what other people would think. You will bloody well clean up the house or I will kick you out permanently.” I instructed them. Now that got them moving. Next thing I knew the house was clean and we were eating lunch outside.
“Now, people, we need to figure out what’s going to happen when the people come out here for my interview thingy next week, because I have no idea.” I told them all.
“Well, I can go to Amelie’s.” Harry told us.
“I’ll go with him and hang with Jamie.” Zayn added.
“I’ll go to Clarisse’s.” Liam said.
“Niall will hang at Nando’s.” Niall said in third person.
“Louis?” I asked him, just saying his name. He shrugged his shoulders and left the room.
“Anyone know what’s up with him?” Liam asked. All of them responded with a no and so did I. When I said the two letter word they all looked at me weirdly.
“How can you not know?” Niall asked weirdly.
“What?” I responded.
“You’re his girlfriend, how can you not know?” he was a complete idiot.
“Okay, do you have this weird idea that when you go out with someone you get a telepathic link with them and know everything that happens in their bloody head?” I asked.
“Yes, I do. Now, the only person that can figure this one out is you.” He responded.
“Oh god.” Was all I said. I looked at the door where Louis had walked through, “what’s wrong with you, Louis?” I pleaded to myself.
