Life, Cars and One Direction... Wait What?!

Chapter 21: Jamie’s nieces and nephews

Louis’ POV
“How’s it going Jamie?” Codie asked. She just got a call from Jamie, duh. “The favour from two years ago?” she questioned, laughing while she said it. “What do you need help with then?” she listened for Jamie’s answers. “What?” she waited for Jamie’s re-explanation. “I WHAT?!” she shouted.
“Codie, inside voice.” I told her.
“Shut up Lou.” Was her response. “Alright, don’t speed out here though. See you soon.” She hung up and faced me with a dead scared face. “We’re gonna die.” She said before leaping on me with a hug.
“It’s okay, I’ll protect you.” I said stroking her hair.
“We might have to make the most of the time we have left.” She said leaning back and looking into my eyes. She had a look that I’ve never seen before, I was kind of scared.
“What do you mean Tinkerbelle?” I asked, seeing what I was getting into.
“What do you think I mean?” she said, having a weird glint in her eyes.
“That depends Codie.” I said, running my hand through my hair. I never understood what was going on in her head. I don’t think anyone does.
“Maybe this.” She said before she connected our lips. We moved in sync, while sitting on the couch, side by side. We broke apart quickly to breathe and reconnected, over and over. God knows how long we were together for, but we know that we were disturbed by Jamie.
“Sorry to destroy your make out session, but I arrived.” She said, her strawberry blonde hair up but massively messy. She looked a little stressed. “Hi.” She said with a very tired voice.
“Oh my friend, where are these lovelies?” Codie said in a sarcastic tone. She stood up, holding my hand.
“They are everything but lovely.” She said before about four children ran in.
“Aunty Codes! Aunty Codes!” they all shout at Codie.
“These are Jamie’s nieces and nephews.” Codie explained to me. “I’m not sure why they started calling me Aunty, but I’m not complaining yet.” She said.
“I would introduce them to you, but they haven’t stopped running around since I got them this morning. They’ve already started tearing up my house.” Jamie said, sounding kind of off.
“Jamie and Amelie live together.” Codie said to me. “Where are your parents?” she asked Jamie.
“They’re out of town. And my older brother decided that I would be okay with four kids under the age of five.” She sat down on the couch.
“Um, Jamie.” I started.
“What is it now? One of them puke? Wouldn’t be new.” She said with her eyes closed.
“I only count three children.” I told her.
“Ah shit.” She said jumping up and running out of the house to her car.
“I’ll try and introduce you to the kids.” She points to one of the girls, “that’s Crys-” she sighed. I couldn’t keep track of the children when they were running around at that speed.
“OI! YOU WILL ALL BLOODY WELL SIT IN A LINE ON THE GROUND IN FRONT OF THE COUCH! NOW!” all of the children instantly obeyed. “Now, all of you, this is Uncle Lou.” She said pointing to me. “Alright, this is Crystal.” She said pointing to a child that had strawberry blonde hair and green eyes, she looked an awful lot like Jamie. It’s just the fact that Jamie has blue eyes, not green.
“This is Diana, her and Crystal are twins, identical twins.” She pointed to the next girl. No kidding they’re identical twins. They look exactly the same.
“How can you tell the difference?” I whispered to Codie.
“I’m not exactly sure how I can. Anyway, this is Johnny. He is the eldest out of them all.” She pointed to a boy with red hair and green eyes. I reckon all of them have green eyes. Jamie walked in the room with a bundle in her arms.
“This is Spencer. Born 4 weeks early and only just came out of hospital. Probably gonna die in my care.” The baby murmured. “Shh.” She said. “By the way he’s sleeping so if anyone shouts while I’m standing here, you won’t be staying with me for much longer.” she said seriously.
“Okay then.” I said to myself.
“Can I put him down somewhere?” Jamie asked.
“All you kids can go outside, you know the boundaries. Go quietly.” Codie said. “I’ll take Spencer, put him in one of the boy’s rooms.” She told Jamie taking the baby and walking to Zayn’s room. Jamie then flopped on the couch next to me.
“So who’s kids are these?” I asked her.
“My older brother, Ronan’s.” She said.
“How much older is he then you?” I questioned.
“Three years. He got married when he was 20, not sure why but he is absolutely sure he’s found the one. Kind of shows with all the children though.” She said before we heard a baby screaming and Codie trying to shush it.
“What lullaby does it usually get?!” I heard Codie shout.
“Any of them!” Jamie shouts back.
“Okay!” we got back.
“I’m gonna check on her.” I said before I got up.
“Well, I’m gonna watch the T.V.” she said grabbing the remote. I got up to be with Codie.
“-because todays the day the teddy bears go on a picnic.” I walk in with Codie finishing the little song and swinging the baby around. The baby was laughing now while Codie was rubbing their noses. “What you doing huh? What you doin’?” she said in a baby voice. She got some baby talk back. “Your such a little cutie aren’t you Spencer? Aren’t you?” she said to him.
“Thanks. I’m beaten by a baby.” I said.
“Yeah, pity that. S’pose you’ll just have to get over it.” She said smiling at me. Something told me she loved children, but there was something else, like, pain behind it.
“You will be an amazing mother one day.” I say, pointing out the obvious.
“If I adopt.” She said putting the baby down again. “You’d be an amazing father too.”
“What do you mean ‘if you adopt’?” I asked her.
“I can’t have kids. I’m incapable, but thanks for the compliment anyway.” She said before the baby screamed again.
“Is it broken?” I asked her, making a joke.
“Think it’s just hungry.” She picked the baby up again and walked to the kitchen. “Hold him would ya?” she said handing me the baby.
“Thanks and sure.” I said as she started rummaging through the cupboards. She finally found some baby food and gave it to me with a tiny spoon.
“Sit the baby on your lap and feed it. I’m gonna make a milkshake.” Codie said. While I feed the baby I hear Codie singing in the kitchen.
“My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard
And they’re like
It’s better than yours
And damn right
It’s better than yours
And I don’t the rest of the words
Does anyone
Know the rest of the words
I’m fair sure
They probably don’t”
What the hell is wrong with her? She gives up on that song.
“I like milk
Da-da-da-da-da-da-dun
When it’s flavoured
Da-da-da-da-da-da-dun
I like milk
Da-da-da-da-da-da-dun
But not banana
Da-da-da-da-da-da-dun
Feel so good
Dun-dun
So good
Dun
When I drink milk
Dun-dun-dun-dun-dun
So good
Dun-dun
So good
Dun
When I drink milk.”
She came out with a chocolate milkshake.
“I figured you like milkshakes, as long as they’re not banana flavoured, from your beautiful singing.” I said.
“Well it is very informative.” She said. She had a straw in her milk and was drinking it slowly.
“Oi, you two little lovebirds made it on the news again!” Jamie screamed. Codie instantly jumped up and ran into the lounge room, spilling some of her milkshake.
“Oh my god Louis! Get your ass here now!” Codie screamed.
“I have a bloody baby!” I screamed back.
“I don’t care!” was the response I got. I picked up the baby and walked quickly into the lounge room. I walked in with the face of Jamie Whincup on the television screen.
“Alright, it might not necessarily be us on the news but it involves Tinkerbelle, so I thought you should know too.” Jamie explained.
“What’s it about?” I asked.
“He challenged me.” Codie said lost in thought.
“What do you mean challenged?” I asked.
“I mean he challenged me to a thing at the Adelaide Show on Sunday. We’re gonna verse each other with the driving there. We do jumps and all sorts of shit. He doesn’t know I’ve done it before. He also is going to set up a ballot to see whose Adelaide’s favourite driver out of us.” Codie said. Her fists clenched at her sides, eyes focused on the television screen. “He is such a dick head.” She said sitting down, breath shuddering.
“I would hug you but my hands are full.” I said shoving the baby forward.
Codie’s POV
Jamie had gone into Zayn’s room with Spencer to have a nap. The boys should be getting home sometime soon, well, all of them except Louis. He stayed here with me, helped me take care of the children.
“The boys are back!” Louis shouted as he looked out the window.
“Yay.” I said sarcastically. They walked in and Zayn started heading straight to his room. “Zayn.” I said to get his attention.
“Yeah?” he responded.
“There’s a girl in your room with a baby. Don’t wake the baby, don’t care about the girl. But, with the girl, keep it PG would you.” I said.
“Wouldn’t be the first time.” he said as a joke, at least I think it was.
“So how was the beach?” I asked the guys.
“It was good. Waves were pretty nice, heaps of screaming fans. Hmm, some were still throwing carrots even though you weren’t there and you have a girlfriend. Oh, we found out your shipper name.” Liam said.
“What is it?” I asked.
“‘Coduie’. Like Codie but with a ‘u’ in it. Yeah, um, Harry and Amelie is ‘Amarry’ and Liam and Clarisse are ‘Cliam’.” Niall said proud of himself for remembering it all.
“Well that’s all right I suppose.” I said.
“All right? All right? We’re bloody well named after you!” Louis said spinning me around. Then Jamie ran into the lounge room screaming.
“He mother f*cking kissed me! Why did he bloody do that?! I will bloody punch him to break his absolutely beautiful face!” she covered her mouth after saying that.
“Jamie. Did you just say that? Because if you were saying that in that tone, you weren’t joking.” I said, giving her a weird look. She was shaking her head while covering her mouth and slowly walked to the couch to sit next to me. “Jamie.” I pushed her for answers.
“I did not say that. No matter what you think, I didn’t.” she said, more like she was trying to convince herself more than anyone else.
“You sure, because I heard differently. As well as the fact I’m fair sure you kissed back.” Zayn said with his signature smirk.
“Wait, what about you and Perrie?” I asked Zayn.
“Didn’t work out, we broke up ages ago.” He said quickly.
“I did not say a thing, I didn’t kiss you back and if you woke up that baby you will die.” She said, still trying to convince herself that she doesn’t like him. She pushes Zayn out the way as she goes to check on Spencer.
“What’s up with her?” Zayn said.
“You’ve obviously made her uncomfortable you dick head.” I made the ‘dick head’ the operative words.
“Hey, she was there and I went with my instincts.” He said.
“What did you do exactly?” I asked him.
“Well, I walked into my room and she was asleep next to the baby. I decided ‘what’s the worst that could happen?’ and kissed her. She woke up and I kind of backed off. Then she stood up and whisper-shouted ‘what were you doing?’ so I told her. Then she wouldn’t shut up so I kissed her again then she stormed out of the room.” When he said ‘she wouldn’t shut up so I kissed her’ Louis and I looked at each other. Good memories, just like this morning.
“Well, I see how well that one worked for you.” I said.
“Eh, she’ll come around eventually.” Zayn told us.
“Sure sure.” I said before Jamie walked back into the room.
“You know what? I will admit that I kissed you back because I was in the moment, alright? And I will admit that I like you. I will admit that your actually alright. And you can have the first bloody kiss back because I don’t want that one!” she shouted before she kissed Zayn when they broke apart Zayn spoke.
“Date tomorrow?” he said.
“Sure.” Jamie answered.
