Life, Cars and One Direction... Wait What?!
Chapter 18: What kind of fear is that?
Codie’s POV
“What are you doing?” I raised an eyebrow at Harry. He was sitting very uncomfortably on a chair. Not that the chair wasn’t comfy, because it is, he was just acting weird.
“Waiting.” He said simply and quietly.
“For Amelie to come so you can get busy again?” I spat out, close to laughing.
“No. I want to get serious with this, make this something better than whatever this is that me and Amelie have.” He said, I gave him a weird look.
“Two things with that sentence. Firstly, great, you got her name right, and secondly, it would pay to go Amelie and I.” I had moods that were weird, the one I was currently in was telling me to correct every ones sentences.
“Sorry. Look, please, just try not to embarrass me.” He said like I was his little sister.
“Why would you think I would do that on purpose?” I asked.
“Do you want me to answer that question?” he said, staring at me through slitted eyes.
“Not really, no.” I answered as the doorbell rang. “Would that be Lady Amelie?” I teased.
“I hope so.” He said as he walked, going down the stairs then to the front door. I hear only a little of the conversation through the floor. I hear the door click closed and ran downstairs to look through the window and watch them creepily. Amelie turns around and spots me in the window. She shakes her head as she gets in the car. I give her my best pedo face, and creepiest wave. She tries to keep from laughing as she drives off and I can tell Harry is questioning as to why.
I walk to the couch and turn the television on. Then ended up observing the boys that are living in their house. Not in a creepy way, but how their daily routines go. I watched as Niall got out of bed and bee-lined for the kitchen. I watched Zayn as he got up and slowly walked to the kitchen, holding his head in pain. Then Liam comes out and goes to the kitchen. I’m sensing a pattern here with going to the kitchen first. Louis comes down the stairs and squashes up against me on the couch, don’t ask me how we did it, because I have no idea.
“How has your morning been love?” he asks after we have a quick good morning kiss.
“Well, when every guy in my house wakes up and walks past me shirtless, it usually means I’m having a good morning.” I admitted.
“Every guy?” he said, knowing where he was getting at with this, I responded quickly.
“Not my dad. Seriously, you don’t want to see that.” I said shaking my head.
“He’s skinny though, he can’t be that bad.” I look at Louis, my mouth dropped open.
“This is my father we’re talking about here, it doesn’t matter about his weight, he’s my dad.” I say bluntly. As if on cue, my dad walks out, without a shirt. “Oh my God dad, put on a freaking shirt!” I grab Louis’ hands and put them over my eyes, you needed at least two layers for this.
“Okay then, okay.” He turns around and goes back to his room to get a bloody shirt. That was when I heard a scream from the kitchen.
“Don’t make me mad Liam, don’t!” I hear an Irish accent shout from the kitchen. I jump over the couch and run to the kitchen, thinking Niall was holding a knife or something to Liam’s throat. I did not want a crime scene here and my house and, more importantly, its secrets all over the news when only the Government are supposed to know. I almost fall over on the tiled floor, and seeing Niall’s weapon of choice isn’t helping my case.
“Okay, you have that to eat, I’ll go with whatever’s left.” Liam says. He was backed up against the wall with Niall pointing a spoon at Liam’s throat. Zayn’s doubled over in the corner, laughing, and I’m standing there, with a look of ‘what the flying f*ck is going on here?’.
Louis catches up to me and looks in on the scene. He loses it and ends up rolling on the floor laughing, making me wince whenever his cast hits the floor. I still stand there, apparently not knowing what’s going on. Just because he’s got a spoon instead of a knife doesn’t mean he’s any less dangerous.
“What the bloody hell is going on here?” I have to be the only person who has no freaking idea of why this is so funny. Louis got up and restrained from laughing for a few seconds to explain.
“Codie, Liam’s scared of spoons.” He spat out in about 1 second before falling back to the ground, in another laughing fit.
“What kind of fear is that?” I ask Liam, now sitting on a chair, white as a ghost. Niall was now happily eating his cereal, showing off his skills with a spoon.
“Umm, it’s Koutaliaphobia.” Liam said quietly. He must be completely scared out of his wits.
“That sounds like a heap of bullshit.” I said plainly. I seriously, was thinking that he was making this up. I’ve heard of fears of plants, fears of spiders and other shit like that, but not a fear of spoons.
“It’s not, I swear.” Now Liam was getting worked up, great. That was when I saw the utter glint of fear in his eyes. Then I looked at Niall, showing off his spoon as well as Zayn and Louis on the floor laughing, and it all became too much for me. I burst out with a smile, then a giggle, then a laugh. Next thing I knew I was rolling around on the floor like a complete lunatic.
“Not you too.” I hear Liam say. I ignored it and continued laughing on the ground.

“Hey, you need to get ready for the concert.” Louis told me.
“Wasn’t that last night?” I asked, kind of out of it.
“Did you go to a One Direction concert last night?” he asked.
“No.” I answered like a five year old. “But you told me the concert was last night.”
“Yeah, well, I got the date wrong, okay?” He said.
“What should I be wearing?” getting an opinion would help me.
“Well, depends on the look you want to get across.” He said, in his sweet British accent.
“Don’t get fashionably technical with me. Skinny jeans and shirt or dress?” I narrowed it down for him.
“Hmm, that is a hard choice.” He said.
“Now you know what I deal with every time I leave the house.” I informed him.
“Right. Well, you look beautiful in a dress and you look hot in skinny jeans… I have no idea.” Great, we’re stuffed.
“LOUIS! WE NEED TO LEAVE IN TEN MINUTES!” I heard Liam shout from downstairs. When my brain registered what he said, I had a mini heart attack and jumped off of the couch. My feet took me straight to my room and I put on the first thing I saw. According to Louis I was going to look ‘beautiful’.
I chose another strapless dress that came to my knees. It faded from a pale blue at the top to a dark blue at the bottom. It was like my dress that I wore to the interview. Shit. Different dress. I look through my walk-in-robe again. Hmm, if I wear those Converse high tops and that dress… yes. That would be perfect.
I slip on an emerald green dress that goes over one shoulder. It is tight until my waist then flares out into a puffy skirt. To make myself look like less of a girl I put on a wide black belt and black and green Converse high tops. I quickly put on some mascara and run downstairs with a hair tie on my wrist, as well as my Pandora bracelet that I never take off. During the car ride to the place where we have to swap over cars, I twist my hair into a bun so no one can grab my hair when we go into the hoard of people.
“You ready for a swarm of fans?” Louis asks me when we get to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
“Not really.” I say as we get out of the black van.
“Well, too late now.” He said as we started making our way through the crowd of people.
Louis POV
“Last change boys.” Paul said as we change into our new clothes for the last part of the concert.
“You are doing so well babe.” Codie says before she goes for a quick kiss, while I’m shirtless. She’s been watching from side stage.
“Hey, what about the rest of us?” Zayn asked, pretending to have a cry.
“You should know by now that I don’t like your music. I like techno, electronic and whatever Taylor Swift sings. I just said that Louis was doing well because he’s my boyfriend.” She said, winking at me.
“Well that’s the first time I’ve heard that from you.” I said with a bit of shock.
“What?” she asked, probably unaware of what she said.
“You called me your boyfriend. You never say that.” I admitted. It hurt a little to say that, but I suppose it’s too late for that now.
“Really? I’m really sorry Lou.” She said as pulled me into a bear hug, which was usually my move.
“That’s alright, in a minute you’ll have made up for it!” I joked as I ran to go back on stage.
“Why?!” She shouted back at me, running after us.
“Because you’re coming on stage!” I shouted back at her. I didn’t hear her response, but I imagined it wasn’t pretty, as I went on stage and the audience started screaming at us to get on with the show.
“Well, now we have free choice of songs, I think Liam should go first!” Niall shouted into his microphone.
“Alright, so, the song I’ve chosen for tonight is… drum roll please.” We waited for the drummer to do his part. “COUNTING STARS BY OONNEE RREEEPUUBBBLIIICC!” we sang the first verse and chorus before cutting off for Zayn to choose. He chose ‘Radioactive’ by Imagine Dragons. We only sang the first verse and chorus of that one as well. Okay, let’s just say that we only sing the first verse and chorus of our chosen songs.
Niall then chose ‘RIP’ by Rita Ora, weird choice I know. Harry chose next. ‘I Love It’ by Icona Pop was sung. Now it was my choice. I hoped on my life that Codie would co-operate. I could see her side-stage whisper shouting at the person who was trying to convince her to take the microphone and come on when she was supposed to.
“So, the last free choice song, is obviously mine. Now, we may also be having a very special guest sing as well.” I risk a quick glance to Codie side-stage. She’s giving me such a heavy death glare, I’m trying my hardest not to crack into laughter. “Do we have any Ellie Goulding fans in here?!” I shout, getting a fairly large amount of screams in return. “Good, you should pick up the song fairly easily then.” I start it off.
“We, we don't have to worry 'bout nothing
'Cause we got the fire, and we're burning one hell of a something
They, they gonna see us from outer space, outer space
Light it up, like we're the stars of the human race, human race”
Then Codie joins in with me. Thank God.
“When the light's turning down, they don't know what they heard
Strike the match, play it loud, giving love to the world
We'll be raising our hands, shining up to the sky
'Cause we got the fire, fire, fire
Yeah we got the fire, fire, fire”
She’s not coming on stage. I look at her, she’s giving me that pleading look that she gave me when we did the interview on live T.V. her eyes are telling me that she really doesn’t want to do this. She’s started it, now she has to finish it.
“And we gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn
We gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn
Gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn
We gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn”
She’s obviously not coming on by choice, I shall have to intervene. She’s singing this part solo, so she kind of needs to be on stage. I ran to her and grabbed her arm, pulling her onto the stage.
“We don't wanna leave, no, we just wanna be right now,r-r-right now
And what we see, is everybody's on the floor acting crazy getting loco til the lights out
Music's on, I'm waking up, we stop the vibe, and we bump it up
And it's over now, we got the love, there's no secret now, no secret now”
All of us join in. because she’s sung the song at her house, I knew what key the rest of us would have to sing at to make it sound beautiful.
“When the light's turning down, they don't know what they heard
Strike the match, play it loud, giving love to the world
We'll be raising our hands, shining up to the sky
'Cause we got the fire, fire, fire
Yeah we got the fire, fire, fire
And we gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn
We gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn
Gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn
We gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn
When the light's turning down, they don't know what they heard
Strike the match, play it loud, giving love to the world
We gonna let it burn burn burn burn
Burn burn
Burn burn burn burn
Burn burn”
Time for her to solo again. We stood back and let her have the spotlight, literally.
“We can light it up, up, up
So they can't put it out, out, out
We can light it up, up, up
So they can't put it out, out, out
We can light it up, up, up
So they can't put it out, out, out
We can light it up, up, up
So they can't put it out, out, out
When the light's turning down, they don't know what they heard
Strike the match, play it loud, giving love to the world
We'll be raising our hands, shining up to the sky
'Cause we got the fire, fire, fire
Yeah we got the fire, fire, fire”
We all joined in again.
“We can light it up, up, up
So they can't put it out, out, out
We can light it up, up, up
So they can't put it out, out, out
We can light it up, up, up
So they can't put it out, out, out
We can light it up, up, up
So they can't put it out, out, out

Strike the match, play it loud, giving love to the world
We'll be raising our hands, shining up to the sky
'Cause we got the fire, fire, fire
Yeah we got the fire, fire, fire”
We all let Codie finish.
“And we gonna let it burn.”
“What are you doing?” I raised an eyebrow at Harry. He was sitting very uncomfortably on a chair. Not that the chair wasn’t comfy, because it is, he was just acting weird.
