Life, Cars and One Direction... Wait What?!

Chapter 15: May I help you ladies?

Codie’s POV
“This is the life.” I announced to my friends.
“Tell me about it.” Jamie continued.
“Doesn’t get better than this.” Elysse stated the obvious.
“Guys, where’s Clarisse?” Amelie said jumping to sit up right.
“You had to ruin the moment didn’t you?” Jamie alleged, shaking her head. Amelie had a habit of doing that. We were happily lying on our beach chairs in our bikinis, in the beautiful, Queensland sun renewing our tan that has been non-existent for a few months because of winter, and Amelie had to ruin it. Just because she doesn’t lose her tan…
“Well, I haven’t seen her since this morning.” Amelie started sounding worried.
“How is that a bad thing? And anyway, it’s only two in the afternoon on Friday. She’s probably been talking to Liam the whole time, they’ve been separated for a few hours, the world is going to end.” I said the last bit sarcastically.
“Alright then.” She said, putting her sunnies back on. I couldn’t be bothered taking mine off, to be honest, only Amelie had the energy.
“May I help you ladies?” A waiter asks.
“Yes you can.” I said, sitting up and slipping my sunnies off. “One, don’t call me a lady, I don’t like it, it’s too formal. Call me Codie. Two, could you get me a strawberry martini?” I finished my part. He wrote it down on a little notepad.
“How about you?” He asked Jamie who was right next to me, gawking.
“Jamie? Hello?” I waved my hand in front of her face. “Anybody home?” I asked. “Um, just move onto the next one and come back in a second. I think she’s asleep.”
“Sitting up?” the waiter asked.
“Wouldn’t be the first time she’s done it.” I said, she had fallen asleep many times sitting up. This time she wasn’t asleep, I was just covering up for her. She was completely engrossed in the waiter, and his hotness. When he starts talking to Elysse I grab both of Jamie’s shoulders and shake her to sense.
“What are you doing?” She shouts at me when she finally returns to reality.
“Waking you from your drooling and gawking at the waiter.” I shook my head.
“Well- Wait- I was- Shit! He’s just so hot” She ran her fingers through her hair.
“Yeah, I know. Look, he’s coming back right now, so, either talk to him, or not order anything.” I told her.
“Hi.” She greeted him as he walked to her chair.
“What can I get you today?” Jamie took her sunglasses off.
“Depends on what you have.” I put my sunnies on and lay down. I listened in but pretended I wasn’t.
“Well, I would like a martini, but you could surprise me. Give me what you think would be the best drink.”
“One hotel exclusive, and hour or two of my time tonight. Pick you up at six?”
“Room 52, I’ll be ready.” He left and Jamie put her sunnies back on and relaxed into her chair.
“There’s my Jamie. My little girls growing up.” I said, sniffling and wiping away a figurative tear.
“Well, as the oldest of the group that kinda makes sense. You old fart.” She shot back at me, smiling. As soon as my eyes closed my phone went off. I checked the screen, decline, or not decline? Not decline.
“Hello love.” I say as soon as I put the phone to my ear.
“I miss you already.” I get back through the phone.
“I’ve been gone for eight hours Louis.” I reminded him. I hate getting up early in the morning to go on a plane, hate it.
“I know, and that’s too long. What’s it like up there?” he asked.
“It’s like, 27 degrees, I’m in my bikini getting a tan, I’m right next to the pool and getting prepped for tomorrow. Life is good, would be better if you were here though, pity you have concerts every single night this weekend. Don’t break another wrist or I’m gonna have to kill you. Put you out of your misery, and everyone else’s.” That summed it all up.
“That’s nice.” He said sarcastically. “When’s your race?” he asked.
“Time trials are tomorrow, about midday, the race is on Sunday same time as the last one… roughly. I don’t know the exact times, but check the T.V. guide on the plasma.”
“How-”
“Liam knows. He’ll tell you. Did you actually have anything you needed to talk to me about or…”
“No, I just wanted to make sure your plane didn’t crash and your happy. So the aim this time is to win, right?” he could never have a surprise, he always had to know what was going on didn’t he?
“Nah Lou, I’m going to lose again, I’m aiming for fourth, then I’m going to win next race.” I said the whole thing sarcastically, confusing him.
“So, what?” He was so confused it wasn’t funny. It was bloody hilarious.
“You’ll find out on Sunday Louis.” I told him, he knew I wasn’t going to budge.
“Alright, I’ll ring you tomorrow about six, yeah?” okay then.
“My six, or your six?” I asked, time zones again.
“My six, I still don’t understand time zones.” I nodded my head.
“Alright, talk to you then babe.” I agreed.
“Love you hun.”
“Love you too babe, bye.”
“Bye.” He finished, I hung up. I am not one of those people who say ‘you hang up’ and then argue for another thirty minutes. It wastes my money, and my tanning time.
“Romeo, oh, Romeo, please don’t hang up, I love you Romeo.” Jamie acted, putting out a hand and making it heartfelt. I jumped up, picked her up and threw her in the pool.
“Juliet, oh, Juliet, shall I pick you up at six tonight?” I acted to her.
“Not if I have anything to do with it.” She said while I stood at the edge of the pool. She jumped onto the edge of the pool and grabbed my legs… and dragged me into the pool.
“Oh, Romeo, why would I want to have you take me to dinner?”
“Oh, Juliet, why are you such an ass?” I said seriously.
“I only learn from the best Romeo.” She told me as she jumped back in the pool, almost landing on me.
“That-” I started, flicking the hair off of my face, “-could have killed me.”
“I highly doubt that one.” She told me. I jumped onto her back in the water, starting a water fight. The others jumped in and helped me out, wait, they were helping her.
“Who’s side are you on?” I shouted at them.
“Jamie’s!” they all shouted together. Here we go, I turned around and found the waiter standing at the edge of the pool giving us all a weird look.
“You took too long and we got bored.” I explained to him. Then the girl’s dog piled on top of me, shoving me underwater. This was going to be fun.
Louis’ POV
I hung up with Codie to find the guys looking at me, pouting their lips.
“Oh Codie, I hope you win!” Harry said in a whiny voice.
“Oh Codie, I miss you already!” Niall said, it sounded weird in his Irish accent.
“Shut up!” I shouted, slapping Harry on the arm. It sounded girlish, but I didn’t care.
“Hey, guys, where’s Liam?” Zayn pointed out that Daddy Directioner wasn’t here.
“Probably talking to Clarisse, again.” Harry said, making us all nod in agreement.
“What should we do guys? We have the house to ourselves, and we have nothing to do, and it’s only half past two, on Friday. Great start guys, great start.” I practically shout. Liam walked in when I finished.
“We could watch-”
“Liam, I’m afraid to tell you, we are not watching Toy Story, or any of the Toy Story movies.” I cut him off, knowing where he was going with it.
“That’s not what I was going to say if you would believe it.” He said, taking me by surprise.
“What were you going to say Liam?” I asked.
“I was going to say we could watch a movie at the cinema.” He pointed a finger at me. “And you thought you could read minds, didn’t ya?” he said to me.
“I can only do that at midnight, when-” someone had to cut me off, didn’t they?
“-You’re the human brain, blah, blahda, blah. No one cares, let’s go already!” Harry complained. Next thing I knew we were in the car and on our way to watch a movie.
Codie’s POV
“How was it?” I asked Jamie as she returned from her date. I was the only one who stayed up, it was 10 o’ clock, and I was in my PJ’s, sitting on the couch with a pillow on my lap.
“It was amazing.” She said spinning around in her short, blue dress.
“And it went for four hours, instead of one or two. Now, what’s his name?” I asked.
“James.” She said, in a kind of daydream.
“Of course it is.” I said to her.
“What’s wrong with that?” She asked, sitting down next to me.
“That’s the name of the guy who assaulted me.” I said, pretending that I was going to cry.
“Oh my gosh Codie, I suppose I’m gonna have to dump him then.” She said sarcastically.
“I know right.” I continued on sarcastically.
“We should get to bed, big day tomorrow. Time trials, you’re gonna have to kick arse.” She instructed me as she went to her room.
“Gonna have to? I’m going to! There is no doubt about it Booker.” I told her as I jumped up to go to my room.
“I know you will honey, just checking that the Tinkerbelle I knew was still in there.” I squinted my eyes at her.
“Why would she ever leave?” I asked before going into my room, before she could give me an answer. I jumped into bed, telepathically said goodnight to Louis, and fell asleep.
***
“Wake up Tinkerbelle!” Jamie shouted at me, whilst shaking my arms.
“Time for time trials!” Elysse reminded me.
“Get up if you want practice laps you couch potato!” Amelie screamed at me.
“Last chance for pancakes guys!” Clarisse shouted from the kitchen, resulting in everyone sprinting to get food, including me. I go to the fridge and grab a Farmer’s Union iced coffee and sit at the table waiting for the food. I eat about four pancakes and gulp down my iced coffee so I could go get changed. What to wear, what to wear? No point in having a shower, I’ll only get sweaty in the suit. Right, come on, what should I wear?
“GUYS! WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?” I shouted to the world, even though it was aimed at my friends. I got a mixed reply of skinny jeans, skirt, trackies, clothes in general. Right helpful, very helpful.
Adidas trackies, no, I’m in Queensland, shorts would be better. Right, shorts and an Adidas tank top. That works. Shoes, hmm, flats. Ballet flats would work well. Should work well. It’d do for now. I got changed and went back to the lounge room. The rest of my group was changed and ready to go, so we went to the car and drove to the race track. As soon as I got out the car I was greeted by the person who got me here.
“There’s the beautiful girl. You ready for today?” He said as his hello.
“Um, as ready as I’ll ever be.” I say under my breath.
“That’s good enough for me.” He said as we went to my race car. I could barely recognise it with its new paint.
“Codie!” My team partner shouted as he hugged me from behind.
“Frosty!” I shouted back to him.
“I haven’t seen you in ages.” He said as he went back to his car.
“Oh, two weeks. How long, it’s like a lifetime.” I said sarcastically. Even though I had only done one race, we had become friends already. I sat on the bonnet of my car, which was in the garage next to his, just without a wall.
“Hey, you better get changed, cameras are here within the hour.” He told me as he grabbed his suit to get into it.
“Thanks for reminding me.” I accused him, cameras made me nervous.
“You’ll be fine, you’re going for gold today anyway, so, just chill, you’ll be fine. I know you will, I mean, you were holding back last race weren’t you?” he asked.
“Yeah, I was.” I admitted.
“Well then, do what you do best and race your little heart out.” He instructed me. Then he left. Right, well, better do as he says. Get changed, get ready, and then do what I do best. Kick arse.
