Kate's POV

I've been sitting next to Olivia since five am.

I can't believe I slept with Louis last night. It was such a mistake. I'm not that girl that ruins things. I let my emotions get the best of me. I let my mind let go and my heart take over and I just can't do that. I had to get out of my house. I didn't even care that I left him there, I just couldn't be there.

I feel gross.

So ashamed.

I should have never left the hospital. I should have stayed by Olivia's side. I'm her mom, Olivia needs me. She should always come first.

“How's it going Kate?” Dottie peeks her head in. She usually always makes me smile, wearing her neon pink scrubs with tiny rainbows all over.

I try to smile but look over at my baby, Olivia, laying on a hospital bed with IV's and a tube down her throat helping her breath. I bit my bottom lip to stop it from trembling.

“Um, no change.” I speak so low I don't know if Dottie even heard me.

“Well, the doctors are coming by later to do another test right?” She asks, I can hear a hint of hopefulness in her voice but I'm just beat.

“Yeah, in about an hour.” I look up at the clock to check.

“Well, I'll be in to help.” She smiles at me and backs out the door leaving Olivia and I alone. I turn to her, even though she's not responding I decide to tell her stories about her daddy and how we fell in love.

Before I start I stand up and grab my water bottle from the table across the room. As soon as I stand up and turn my back to Olivia I hear it.

“Mommy?” I turn around and all but run to Olivia. She was looking around confused.

“Mommy's right here Olivia!” I frantically push the buttons for the nurse to come and I hear running footsteps down the hall.

“Everything ok-OLIVIA!” Dottie all but yells.

“Mommy, I'm tired. My head hurts.” Olivia snuggles up close to me.

“I know baby. The medicine will help it go away.” I reassure her as I look up at Dottie with tears in my eyes, my baby is back.

“Well, this is just fantastic.” Dr. Olsen tells me. “Everything looks okay as far as her brain function. We'll have to keep her a few more days. The tumor is still growing though. We can try to remove it but like I said it can cause paralization if we hit a nerve just the right way. It's an extremely risky surgery.”

I nod just amazed that Olivia has woken up at all.

“We can just monitor her progress and see where it takes us.” He shakes my hand and closes the door.

I turn back to Olivia who is still awake but sleepy. Understandably so, they've ran quite a few tests to check everything and things still aren't the best. Obviously the tumors are still there, they can't get rid of them. The cancer is still there. I just have to decide if I want to put her through more chemotherapy and radiation. Again.

I should be deciding what dress she'll wear on her first day of school. Not if she should live or die.

“Kate?” I turn and my eyes wide.

“Louis? What are you doing here? And why are you dressed like that?” I look him up and down to see dressed in costume.

“Well, Dottie told me of a special day. Today is the children's ball? I was hoping Olivia was well enough for me to take her?” He asks. He looks like a prince dressed up, tights and all, straight out of a Disney movie.

“Oh, well that's fantastic but Olivia doesn't have anything to wear and she's still pretty sick.” I point out.

“Please mommy. I want to go.” A small voice calls out and I remember that she's in the room as well.

“I actually have a dress for her.” He opens the door and pulls a small box from the hallway, placing it in my hands. I look up at him in surprise and carefully open the box revealing a small Belle like dress. I look up at him again, he's beaming. “So what do you say?” He asks and I just shake my head. I can't punish Olivia for the things that Louis and I have done.

“Olivia, look at your dress!” I fling it out of the box and show it to her.

“Oy! Can we come in?” I see Niall's head peek out from the door.

“Hey Niall.” I do a slight wave as the rest of the boys come in, all dressed in Prince Charming costumes. I can't help but contain my giggles.

“We all wanted to take Olivia to the dance.” Zayn informs me and I'm literally holding back tears.

“But first! We wanted to sing to her. Make her feel a little better.” I just can't believe what Harry is telling me. All I can do is nod and wave my hand for them to continue because I'm literally speechless.

I carefully sit next to Olivia who all but climbs on my lap. She only has the one IV in right now so I can easily situate my way around it and I cling to her.

The guys all gather around each other and talk amongst themselves, I look at Olivia whose looking at me smiling. I just hug her closer as they start humming and Liam starts to sing.

So it was beyond time for some uplifting/cutenes. I think we've all needed it after these past few chapters!


Let me know your thoughts on the chapter! The song they're singing is For the Longest Time by Billy Joel, YouTube has some fantastic acapella versions, I picture it like that. AND Olivia woke up!! Extremely exciting. Now we just have to wait to see what happens next.

So sorry if the spacing is off, it kept deleting my paragraphs, quite annoying!
