Neon

Chapter 1, Page 2

Turns out the giant figure flying at us was a semi. And it didn't turn away from us, no. It slammed smack damn into us, and sent the three of us flying from the car. I smacked the ground with a hard thud but I didn't pass out. I just suffered a large cut in my arm and a smaller cut on my head from some glass, which right now I was lying in the middle of. I stood up and ran over to my mom's dead body on the cold November ground.

"MOM!" I shrieked "MOM, WAKE UP!"

I knew she wasn't waking up. Her chest wasn't moving and her skin was turning cold, no sign of pulse. I quickly ran over to my dad who was still breathing, but he was quickly losing blood due to a large cut in his stomach.

"DADDY!" I screamed just as I heard sirens coming from behind me. I turned stations and saw many a few paramedics jumping out of ambulances. They were running in different directions. Some towards the semi that was now in a ditch, some towards my parents and I.

"Miss, are you alright?" A paramedic with long blonde hair that was tied into a bun, probably no older than thirty, asked me as she began guiding me to one if the ambulances. I turned around to see fire fighters putting out the fire that was on the semi and the one on what used to be ny family's car, but now that car was burning scrap metal. I watched as paramedics zipped my parents up in black bags and put them on stretchers.

"What's your name, hon?" The paramedic with the blonde hair asked me.

"Paige." I replied simply. "Paige Callender."

"Were those your parents?" She asked with sincerity in her eyes.

I nodded as tears slowly began to fall.

"I'm so sorry," The paramedic said. "But right now I'm going to take you to the hospital so we can check you out, make sure your okay. So will you please lie down in this stretcher?"

I nodded as I lied down and was strapped onto the stretcher. As we drove away from the scene, I heard more sirens fly towards the scene, trying to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.
