Stay Away

When I got back outside, I saw Niall already at his Jeep waiting. There was an urgency in his facial expressions that told me he didn't like staying here, and in all honesty I couldn't blame him. This used to be my home and I didn't even want to stay here.

I started to get in my truck when Niall stopped me. "You're truck was here last night right?"

I looked at him puzzled. Why would that matter? "Yeah, it was why?"

"If the truck was here that means they have the tags on it, the license number, and the model. They'll know what you're driving. I'm sorry but you're going to have to get something new love."

"Niall, I've had the same truck since I turned 16. I'm not about to change that now." Who did he think he was?!?!?!?! It's one thing for me to have to change everything, you'd think the one thing that would stay the same would be my beloved truck. But no, of coarse not. What was I thinking?

"Emma, I'm sorry but I'm not taking any chances okay?" He looked at me with a pleading in his eyes.

I sighed, "Okay I guess a change won't kill me." That made him smile. Then something hit me. "SHIT!! Niall we totally just ditched school after the scene Jeremy made. Everyone saw us how are we going to get out of this?"

"I'll handle it Emma don't freak out okay?" I heard Jere say from behind us. How the hell was he gonna handle it? Does he have some unknown connections that I don't know about?

"Okay...so what do we do now?" I asked looking up at Niall.

"For now we go back to my place and we'll figure it out from there," he replied.

"Hold up, are you sure there's going to be enough room in your house to hold all of us?" Jeremy asked. I couldn't stop myself from laughing, and I felt kinda bad for doing it but I couldn't help it.

"There's room Jeremy I promise," I heard Niall say.

After my long morning all I had really planned on doing when we got to Niall's was sleeping, but I had another thing coming. Apparently it was absolutely necessary for us to go shopping for new clothes that day. So, being the person I am said, "Sure let's go." By the time we came home I was exhausted.

Jeremy carried his bag to his room and Niall helped me carry my stuff, so by the time Niall and I had everything in my room. I was about to pass out, but when I'm at that stage of sleepiness, I tend to speak my mind a lot more than I would rather. It seemed to me that Niall noticed that too and he began to take advantage of it.

"So you never answered my question from earlier," he said nonchalantly.

"What question?" I asked after a long yawn. That's when he sat down next to me on the large bed.

"When I asked you why you just wouldn't stay away from me like you were told," he replied.

In that moment I couldn't help it. I looked into those deep blue eyes and explained. "When you saved me the first time, I thought nothing of it, except for when you walked me home. You intrigued me. I became curious. Then when you stopped Jason... I don't know, I just..." I trailed off.

"Felt something..." I heard him say. This surprised me to no end. He really just said that. Then all at once, he started leaning his head closer to mine, and I was leaning in closer to him, taking it all in. His look, his warmth, his scent, everything. I knew where this was leading. His eyes began to dart from my eyes to my lips as if asking for permission. I leaned in a little closer, hoping he would understand that I was totally okay with where this was going.

Then I heard Jere calling from the living room. "Hey Niall where's the bathroom in this place?!"

I looked back at Niall to see him sighing. "I had better..." he said.

"Yeah...wouldn't want him getting any ideas," I said.

"Well sleep well princess," he said. With that he kissed me on the cheek and left the room. I wanted to stay awake and think about what had happened, but I was so tired that when my head hit the pillow I was out like a light.
