Chapter Twenty-Five
Calum's POV
Melody's Outfit
Melody left Liv's hospital room with a forlorn expression on her face. You could practically feel the guilt coming off of her. She sat next to me and placed her head in her hands as she began to cry. I looked around at the others in the waiting room and Ariella shot me look that said "do you're job and comfort her." I nodded and hesitantly put my arm around her, hoping that I wasn't detonating a bomb.
"Shh. It'll be okay." I comforted her.
"How do you know?" She sobbed. "I was supposed to protect her not cause her pain. How am I going to fix this?" My eyebrows furrowed in concern and I removed Melody's hands from her face.
"Mel, stop blaming yourself please." I pleaded with her. "It wasn't just your fault. You weren't the only one arguing."
"But I'm the only one who knew that she used to cut." She said as blackened tears from her eyeliner rolled down her cheeks. "I shouldn't have reacted like that. If I had used my head...if I hadn't charged at Luke and accused him like that and caused that whole riot argument we wouldn't be here. Liv would be okay." She cried lowly. It was a sad thing to say but I think this is the most she's spoken to me.
I pressed my lips together in a tight line and enveloped Melody in a hug, whispering that it would be okay even if I wasn't 100% sure that it actually would.
"We've got to hope that Liv wakes up, okay?" I said as we separated. Melody took a deep breath to calm down and wiped her face.
"Okay." She said and then repeated it until she believed it herself. "Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. It'll be fine. It'll be fine."
And it would be. At least I hoped so.
