The Wrong Woman

22

It felt good. Too good. Her lips covered my face in a flurry of kisses and I felt myself melting into every single one. I placed my hands on her thighs, touching the smooth skin and the edge of her short skirt. Her hands tangled their way into the back of my head as they usually did when she kissed me. I sometimes wish she’d pull on my hair a little, but she never did.
I could feel my lips ache from the endless kiss as the tips of my fingers caressed her back and played over the clasp of her bra.

“Take it off.” She murmured, her breathing become deeper, her eyes glazed with need. My fingers paused. I wasn’t used to taking orders from her, so I moved my hands down to the small of her back. She mewled in protest, her kisses becoming more heated, moving down to my neck. I felt her warm, wet lips working their way down to my chest. I stared at the wall on the other side of the room as she kissed me. What was I doing?

“Maddie stop.” I said.

“Hmm?” She asked, starting to grind more aggressively, her teeth now grazing the side of my neck.

“Maddie- ow!”

“I want you.” She told me. “You’ve wanted this for so long. Why stop?”

“Because-“My words were muffled by her mouth attacking mine and I could feel myself melting again. “Fuck.”

“Huh?”

“Maddie no.” I took her by the arms and pushed her away.

“Why?” She asked her eyes full of hurt.

“Why are you ready now? What’s so different from a couple of weeks ago… you didn’t even want to touch me.”

“Why can’t you ever be happy with me?” Maddie suddenly snapped and I couldn’t help but stare back at her in surprise. “I’m trying so hard for you and all you can do is push me away.”

“I’m not pushing you away.” I protested. “I’m just- Maddie, I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact you’re only sixteen!”

“So what?” She cried. “What difference does it make? I like you, you like me. I want you, you want me… why can’t we just be together?”

“We can.” I said trying not to sound irritated. “Just let me figure some things out first. Let me get used to the idea.”

Her face softened, along with her voice as she trailed her fingers down my arm.

“Don’t you like me?” She asked. “Don’t you find me attractive anymore?”

“You know I do.” I said huskily. “You know how I feel about you.”

Maddie stretched out before me in nothing but her white bra and matching lacy underwear, her short skirt falling on the floor.

“Show me.” She said softly. “Show me how you feel about me.”

“I like you a lot.”I said, but she shook her head.

“Show me.” Maddie repeated.

I paused for a couple of moments before taking her hand and placing it over the bulge in my boxer shorts.

“That’s how much I like you.” I told her. “This is what you do to me.”

Maddie’s eyes locked with mine as her hand disappeared under my boxers. I couldn’t help but breathe in sharply when I felt her small hand close over me.

“What are you doing?” I mumbled.

“Showing you how I feel.” She mumbled back. “Since you won’t.”

“Don’t be like that.”

“Like what?”

“You know.” I said firmly, and I shut my eyes as she picked up the pace, her slow rubbing turning into slow pumping. So I wasn’t going to have sex with her but was what I was doing any better? I tried to drive these thoughts out of my head and focus on the sweet sensation of her hand on me, but I couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling. It took all of my strength to gently stop her and push her away. It hurt more than she would know. It hurt to stop the pleasure coursing through my body, it hurt to see the look of confusion on her face, it… just hurt.

“Let’s just take it slow.” I said, the words almost sticking in my throat as I felt the still throbbing ache down below. Maddie merely stared back, self-consciously crossing her arms over her almost nude body.

“Let’s just get to know each other again…” I told her. “We’ve never even been on a proper date before. Maybe we can go out for dinner or something. Would you like that?”

I don’t know how I had gone from getting a hand job to asking her out to dinner, and I felt a wave of pity at the look of sadness on her face.

“Or maybe we can go see a movie?” I asked. “I can’t believe we haven’t done any of that shit yet.”

I could see her trying not to smile but as she left soon after, I began to wonder where was all this leading?

I strolled into the office a couple of days later to see Felicity sitting at her desk.

“Good afternoon.” I said.

“Hi.” She asked with an amused smile. “Feeling better today?”

“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” I asked sitting on the edge of her desk.

“The last time I saw you, I had to help you walk.”

“Hmm… you took me to bed right?” I said as though I was trying hard to remember. “Did we… you know? Did anything happen?

“Other than you saying a lot of strange things- no.”

I pretended to be deep in thought.

“What kind of things?” I asked, even though I remembered every single thing I had said.

“I’m not going to remind you Harry.” Felicity replied smartly.

“Boo, you’re no fun.” I said, echoing my last words to her that night.

“You do remember.” She said with a twinkle in her eye.

“Nope.” I said standing up and walking toward the biscuit jar on the counter. “I dunno what you’re talking about.”

I started my tasks not long after but was soon interrupted by Campbell who appeared at the door.

“Harry, just the person I wanted to talk to.”

I peered at him nervously, resisting the urge to look over at Felicity. The last time I had seen him, I had been totally wasted.

“Yes sir.”

“Call me Campbell.” He said automatically. “I wanted to know what you thought about the extra hours I offered you.”

“Er… well I’m interested. I just need to know which days.”

“Three days. Five hours a day.” He said quickly. “Possible extra hours above that.”

“That sounds good.” I said, thinking this was my chance to quit the damn supermarket job. “I think I’ll take it.”

“Good. We’ll sort a few things out tomorrow.” He said, turning to Felicity. “I’ll see you back at the house.”

She nodded and looked at me as soon as he was gone.

“So I guess you’re going to be seeing more of me.” I told her.

“I guess so.” She said an unreadable expression on her face.

Six o’clock rolled around and we heard the sound of voices in the hallway. Seconds later
Maddie barrelled in, wearing a white dress I’d never seen before, strappy shoes and her hair pulled into a sleek ponytail.

“Hi.” She said brightly. “Are you ready?”

“Where are you both off to?” Felicity asked curiously.

I stood up and placed my arms around Maddie.

“I’m taking Maddie out on a date tonight.” I said. “Dinner, movie-”

“Sounds like fun.” Felicity cut me off.

I winked at her as we made our way out the door. I had decided to take Maddie to a little Italian place liked; it wasn’t too fancy but the food was awesome. I pulled out Maddie’s chair, just like I had seen it done in the movies and then sat across from her. It wasn’t long before we ordered our food, and Maddie started to talk. I felt like I was seeing her with new eyes.

She spoke about school and her friends, and it was kind of funny to listen to her, knowing her real age.

I wanted to steer the conversation to another subject so I brought up work and how I was going to quit my supermarket job.

“So are you happy working at my Dad’s company now?” Maddie asked.

“Yeah I am.” I paused for a moment. “So… has Felicity worked there for long?”

“Yeah, it’s been a while.” Maddie said, distracted by the waiter bringing her food. “Why?”

I tried not to show how curious I was, but the truth was I was burning to learn more.

“No reason.” I said stuffing my face with pizza. “It’s just… the job’s so boring… she seems a little too smart for it, you know?”

“She wants to get into Purchasing.” Maddie replied chewing thoughtfully for a moment as I waited for her to go on. “But Daddy wants her to work in the office.”

“Why?”

“If she gets into the Purchasing Department, that means she gets to travel. I don’t think Daddy wants that.”

Bastard, I thought bitterly. He wants her all to himself, so he stuffs her in the back office and gives her a job that even I could tell was mind numbingly boring. Maddie changed the subject, so I backed off asking any more questions.

Later, we made our way over to the cinema complex and I placed my arm around Maddie’s waist as we walked.

“I like your dress.” I murmured in her ear. I could see why she could pass for older. Not only was she tall, especially in her high heels, but her taste in clothes could be considered sophisticated. I noticed the other girls around us wearing jeans and flats. Maddie stood out in her little white dress that clung to her body and reached just above the knees. I did not miss the appreciative stares she was getting from guys we passed, but she seemed oblivious as she chattered to me. I let her choose the movie and she predictably picked a romantic comedy.

I lifted the armrest and Maddie snuggled up to me as we watched the movie. It kind of hit me that I had never really dated anyone before. Not in the true sense of the word. I had gone out with girls before, but never on a proper dinner date and definitely not to the movies.
We spent the second half of the movie making out. It all started with my hand on her thigh and it ended with bruised lips and a hard on. If it only had ended with me fucking her silly, then it would have been the perfect date.

Work the next day was quiet. Felicity barely spoke to me, so I busied myself with data entry. Every now and then, I’d glance up at her and could tell she was studiously ignoring me.

“Want some tea?” I said.

“No.” She said tightly, not even bothering to look up from her file.

Campbell chose that moment to enter the office. I watched as he searched a filing cabinet.
“Coffee?” He said, not even looking up.

Felicity wordlessly walked over to the counter and put on the kettle. Once the coffee was made she placed it on the desk where Campbell sat, and then returned to her desk. He was so engrossed in the file that he did not even acknowledge her and I could not help but shake my head. Minutes later, he took his coffee and left the room.

“Why were you shaking your head?” Felicity asked with a hard edge in her voice.

“Oh, you’re speaking to me now?” I said.

“Yes. Again: why were you shaking your head?”

“Maybe because your boyfriend treats you like a maid.”

I don’t think she expected that answer and it was reflected on the surprised expression on her face.

“I beg your pardon.”

“You heard me.” I said. “I think he treats you like shit.”

“Why would you say that?” Her surprise gave way to hurt.

“Because.” I snapped. “He has you hidden away in this office when you deserve so much better than this.”

“It’s a job.” Felicity said stiffly.

“Well you want a job in Purchasing. Why won’t he give you that?”

“Who told you that?” Felicity said angrily. “Maddie?”

“So what? It’s the truth isn’t it?”

“Well what about you?” She now eyed me accusingly. “I thought you said you were going to break up with Maddie?”

“I never said that.” I said hotly. “I never once said that.”

“Well it sounded like it to me.” She retorted.

“Why do you care?” I said. By now we were face to face. I was pissed off by her tone and it wasn’t hard to see she was pretty angry too. “Why do you give a shit about whether I’m with her?”

“Because!” She said her eyes flashing.

“You jealous?” I taunted her. “Are you jealous about us being together?”

Felicity glared at me as my lips curved into a smile.

“Maybe because I can’t stop thinking about us.” She blurted.

My smile disappeared as I stared at her wordlessly, and her face softened in response.

“Maybe I can’t stop thinking about you.”
