Who Are You? (33rd Chapter)
Evelyn's POV:

“Raise your right hand, Sir. (Desmond lifts up his hand, looking at the judge) Do you swear to tell the truth, and nothing but the truth Mr. Styles?” Desmond waits no longer to reply: “I do.” He drops his hand and sits on the questioning bench, which is located beside the judge. Patrick, the lawyer, approaches the bench in pure confidence; something that I am lacking right now.
“Mr. Styles, could you tell me and the judge what happened, that cause you to file a divorce from Miss. Rider?” Desmond sighs, and then binds his fingers together. “She has an affair with my son.” The judge’s eyes seem like to pop out, at the sound of the accusation; while my eyes lower to the table. “What are your other reasons, Mr. Styles?” Patrick asks, receiving a direct answer from Desmond: “She wouldn’t want to near me in any physical contact.”
The judge shakes his head, then gestures for me to come near.“I think we have heard enough from the accusing, and now I personally need to hear the accused. Miss Rider, please come up and sit.” I nod, sliding my heels calmly, while Desmond steps down; going back to his chair. “Raise your right hand, Miss. (I obey and lift it up) Do you swear to tell the truth, and nothing but the truth?”
I nod, before talking: “I do, your honour.” He bobs his head allowing me to sit, while Patrick approaches me.“Miss Rider, what do you have to say about what my client told the court?” I allow myself to breathe out, focusing my aim to be honest and fearless; even though I am shaking deep down. “Desmond has been a great husband since the day that we got married. It was until yesterday, precisely in the afternoon, when he forced himself on me. I tried backing away, asking him to stop; but it only earned me to be beaten.”
The judge’s face stares at me in confusion, but he nods for me to go on. “I am aware that I am here to admit my wrong actions, but let me assure you that neither did I or Harry share any sexual contact.” Desmond stands up from his chair, yelling like a mad man: “SHE LIES, YOUR HONOUR! SHE CALLED FOR MY SON PLEADING FOR HIS HELP!” Judge Arnold bangs his wooden hammer, silencing Desmond.
“You are not to speak right now, Mr. Styles. Shall I need to remind you that I am the judge here?” Desmond sits down, shaking his head slowly. The door of the courtroom slides open, in a sudden action. A police officer rushes to the judge’s table, announcing his information. “Judge Arnold, I have a witness for Miss Rider, awaiting your permission to enter. Would you allow him to step inside?” Him? Who could possibly want to witness with me? Could it be one of the butlers, from the mansion?
“He may come in, officer Jones.” The police man rushes back to the door, talking to the unknown man to enter. I begin to blink my eyes in shock, as his green pair focus only on me.“Who are you, young man?” The judge asks, while he approaches a near bench to sit on.
“I’m Harold Edward Styles, your honour. And I am here to be a witness on the entire situation. I am even willing to be questioned, just to prove that Evelyn is innocent. I am ready with anything that you may need to know, and I even have sensible proof that shows Evelyn’s innocence. I apologise to be late, but I had my reasons since I was collecting the evidence needed for this court case. (He looks at me, giving me a light grin) I hope that you won’t mind, your honour.”
Notes
Well I don't think that I should clear out a lot of things for today, but I have some key points to concentrate on. First, Mrs. Higgins gave Evelyn a spare key to her apartment, along with her address on the piece of paper. Evelyn's clothes and all her belongings were brought from the mansion, since she can't go back there anymore (Y) Next, Desmond brought three lawyers that work for him, assuming that the bigger number the better :/ As for Harry surprising show up, this will all be tell tailed tomorrow :D And last but not least, Evelyn has finally burned the legal paper that her mother was forcing her to make Harry sign. Now some of you must say: of course she burned it, she's getting divorced so what will she need it with? Well that's not why she burned it. She did so because she loves Harry, and she didn't have the time or the mind capacity to remember about the paper. If it wasn't for Mrs. Higgins bringing the topic up, the envelop would be still forgotten. <3
Questions for tomorrow: Why is there a doctor? The judge is incredibly mad? Harry is in tears? Why :O
