They Don't Know About Us
The Truth
A week later there I was on the front cover of Teen Vogue with five amazing guys, my eyes focused on only one member, Liam. I couldn't get him out of my mind, I wish I could have gave him a chance. Were you really considering to trust this guy? He's one of the most famous people on earth. I grabbed the magazine and proceeded to shop around, no one noticed it was me, maybe because I wore her lazy day attire. I made my way to the checkout line, just then my phone rang. "Jillian speaking." I held the phone between my face and shoulder.
"Hey Jillian, it's me, Liam." I stayed quiet for a moment. "Jillian?" I groaned.
"How did you get my number?" I said in a very rude tone.
"S-Susan gave it to me." He said lowly. Of course, she would.
"Look, Liam, this isn't really a good time." I began to tell a lie.
"Can you just meet me and the boys down at the tea shop? We still owe you from the distraction at the shoot." His British voice sent chills down my spine.
"I don't know Liam, like I said, It's not a good time." I took out some money and paid the cashier and left.
"It doesn't have to be right now." He wouldn't quit, no matter how many times I'd say no, I knew he wasn't going to quit.
"Fine." I groaned out. "What time?" I rolled my eyes as I entered my car.
"How about in three hours?" I looked at the time. 11:43 A.M.
"Yeah, okay I'll be there at three. Bye." I hung up and tossed my phone onto the passenger's seat. Just great. I turned the key and turned on my car. I headed to my apartment and decided what to wear. I was really starting to open up to these guys and I hardly know anything about them. Never have I given in so fast, I'd ignore everyone who tried to be my friend for years now and now I just let these guys in? I shrugged of my thought and looked at the clock, 2:30 already, I guess I should get going. I threw on a simple button up shirt with high waist shorts and headed out. It wasn't long before I got there and to my surprise, the boys were already there.
"Jillian! You actually came!" Louis screamed making Liam's head turn my direction. "For a second there I thought you were going to bail on us again." He walked towards me giving me a hug. I didn't hug back, I was shocked. I haven't had a hug in eight years. "Everything alright?" He looked at me weirdly.
"Of course." I fake smiled before waving at the other boys.
"Well well, you actually did show up." Liam called walking towards me.
"Did anyone think I was going to show?" I rolled my eyes and Niall's hand shot up.
"I knew it all along." He gave me a big grin, I couldn't help but smile.
"Liam over here hasn't been able to shut his mouth up about you this past week." Zayn butted in.
"Guys, shut the hell up." Liam blushed looking down. I giggled. "Can I get you some tea?" I shook my head.
"I'll get it myself, thanks." I walked over to the cashier and ordered it myself. I wasn't about to let him pay for me. "Thank you." I smiled at the lovely girl before returning to the boys.
"Here take my seat." Harry smiled standing up. "How rude of you Liam, not letting this beautiful girl take your seat," Harry winked at me before sitting on Louis's lap.
"Oh Hazza, such a gentleman you are." Louis attempted to say in a girl's voice.
"You guys are something else." I smiled as I sipped my tea.
"You know what, I just had something come up, I'll see you guys later." Zayn got up.
"Meeting up with Perrie again?" Niall grinned.
"Yeah, I am." He smiled widely.
"Me and Harry have to get going to, we have some things to do as well." I wasn't sure if they were telling the truth. "Come on Curly, up up!" He pushed Harry up before pulling himself up. "I hope to see you again?" He took out his hand.
"Maybe." I shook his hand and all three of them left leaving me with Niall and Liam.
"So do you model a lot?" Niall smiled.
"I uh." It's okay Jillian, just a friendly conversation. "Yeah, not lately though." Liam looked at me.
"Why not?" I bit my lip.
"Honestly, I don't know, my management just fell apart, my agent left me and after that my modeling just decreased. I've probably done five shoots in the last six months. I used to do at least four each month." Liam nodded.
"I'm really sorry to hear tha-" Niall's phone interrupted Liam.
"Hello?" He began. "Oh, alright, I'll be there." He hung up sliding his phone back into his pocket. "I have to go, I hope to see you around Jillian, you're a sweet girl." The Irish lad left, leaving me and Liam alone.
"And then there was two." Liam smiled at me.
"So, Mr. Payne." He nodded. "Did you set this up?" I squinted my eyes.
"You caught me." He put his hands up in defense. I smiled, he was really changing me and I hardly knew him. "No, but in all seriousness, I did force you here, I just wanted it to be worth your while." He smiled.
"You didn't force me here." I lied once more.
"Oh please, if I hadn't have begged you, we wouldn't be here." He was right, I wouldn't be here. "You're different Jillian." I looked at him.
"How so?" My eyebrows scrunched together.
"Most girls would be all over us in a matter of seconds, whether they're models or not." I rolled my eyes.
"Look Liam, this really doesn't have anything to do with you guys being 'One Direction' it has to do with trust issues." I spat out. "I'm not those girls you can easily chit chat with and have them wrapped around your finger, I don't trust anyone, and if you're wondering why I'm telling you it's for your own benefit." He looked at me speechless. "I'm not going to be chasing after someone, I don't have friends and lately I think that's were I want to stand. Me coming here was just a friendly thing, I honestly don't know what I was doing accepting to this, maybe I want you to be my friend, not just you all the boys, but I just can't let my guard down, I haven't for years, and I'm certainly not letting America's best boy band change that." I got up and pushed my chair back in. "You seem like a really nice guy Liam, all of you guys do, but I just can't let anyone let me down again. Let's just save each other the trouble and just forget about each other okay?" I smiled and started walking out. I sounded like a bitch, maybe that was my whole intention, but it killed me to see such a nice guy like him get hurt by simple words. I felt a hand on my shoulder before I was turned around.
"If you think I'm just going to forget about you and let you miss out on the opportunity on having five amazing friends, you're wrong. I'm going to do everything in my will power to get your trust, I'll break that guard of yours and you're going to be happy, none of us will ever let you down. Especially me." He smiled looking into my eyes. And for the first time, I believed someone.
