Christmas holidays. Not only did that mean awkward family gatherings, but it also meant going to other awkward family gatherings. Niall and I spent Christmas Eve and morning at my family’s house (seeing as we ate Christmas dinner around noon) and Christmas evening at his family’s. Everyone I met was so kind and so happy and I loved that about his family.

We spent the day after Christmas looking at apartments online, then finally, when we got back after New Year’s, we moved in. It was a cute, two bedroom apartment with a small kitchen and living area and one and a half bathrooms.

We stood in the bedroom we would be sharing and stared at the walls with the different color choices taped it. “I like the green.” I said and tapped my chin with my right index finger. “What do you think?”

“Wouldn’t the blue go more with the bedding?” Niall pointed out. I moved over to the different shades of blue and placed my hands on my hips.

“Oh, they would…” I agreed and concentrated. “Can you take the other color samples down?” I asked and kissed his cheek as he walked past me. I looked over at the queen sized bed we shared to get an idea of the bedding color before finally choosing one. “This one.” I took it off the wall and handed it to Niall. “This one looks best.” He held it up to the bedding and nodded in agreement.

“It’s perfect.” He smiled at me and handed me the color sample before ripping down the rest of the color samples. “Now time for the living area.” I groaned and set the blue sample we chose for the room on the bed before following him out where we taped all the remaining color samples to the wall of the living area.

When we finally had the entire apartment painted and set up nearly a week later, classes were starting back and we still needed school supplies. “This whole living together thing is a lot more stressful than I thought it would be.” Niall chuckled as we cuddled on the bed, watching a movie.

“I know,” I sighed. “I’ve been so focused on this damn apartment I almost forgot to get my books and notebooks yesterday.”

“Which reminds me, will you help me get mine tomorrow?” I laughed lightly and agreed. There was a knock on the apartment door and I looked at the clock. Who would be coming over this late at night? I put my house shoes on and answered the front door.

“Surprise!” Autumn and Harry yelled in unison.

“Hey, guys!” I smiled and hugged my two friends. “Niall! Autumn and Harry are here!” I called back to the room and let them in.

“Wow, it looks great.” Harry complimented and handed me a plant. “House warming gift.” He shrugged awkwardly.

“I love it.” I smiled warmly and put it on the tiny coffee table. Niall finally came out of the room and sat next to me on the couch. The rest of the night, the four of us stayed up and shared insane stories from our break and watching movies.

Niall’s POV

“That was a nice surprise.” Katie yawned and locked the door behind Autumn and Harry as they left.

“Yeah,” I stretched my arms out and picked Katie up bridal style. She let out a small yelp and giggled as I carried her to the bedroom. “But now, it’s time to sleep.” I held her with one arm as I pulled back the covers and gently set her down on her side of the bed. I pulled the covers up to her chin and tucked them under her delicate body as she laughed.

“I think I’m tucked in, Ni.” She laughed and I crawled over her to get to my side of the bed. “Niall!” She laughed and pushed my feet off of her torso. I laughed as I crawled under the covers and pulled her tiny figure towards next to me.

“See, this isn’t much different than when we lived on campus.” I began to trace invisible circles on Katie’s back as I spoke. “You were always staying at mine, or I was at yours for the night. We were practically living together as it was.” Katie smiled as her eyes slowly began to close. “You had a shit ton of your stuff in my room.” I chuckled and Katie’s lips pulled into a half smile. “But this is better, because I love you.” I leaned down and kissed her cheek.

“I love you, too.” Katie mumbled and fell asleep. I smiled and got comfortable in the bed, moving Katie just slightly so she was cuddling to my chest, and fell asleep.

Katie’s POV

The first day back was the worst. Granted, the first day of anything was the worst, but this was just plain awful. All new professors, all new students, and all new assignments. Unfortunately, all new students meant having to deal with all new assholes, as well.

“Hey,” A guy said as he sat next to me in the back of the class. “I’m Tucker.”

“Katie,” I smiled and shook his hand.

“So, I hope I’m not being too forward,” Here we go. “But would you like to go on a date with me Saturday?”

“Sorry, but I have a boyfriend.” I said politely.

“Last I heard Niall had claimed you as his sex monkey.” I’d not heard that name used yet.

“Sex monkey?” I cocked an eyebrow at him. Tucker nodded and shrugged. “Well now it’s more than just a ‘sex monkey’,” I rolled my eyes at the ridiculous name. “Sorry, mate.”

“Whatever.” Tucker scoffed and turned to the front as the professor walked in.

I smiled the second I walked out of my class and saw Niall waiting for me across the hall. I skipped up to him and pecked his lips softly. “How was class?” He asked and wove his fingers through mine. I shrugged and leaned my head on his shoulder as we walked out of the building.

“It was alright. There was this one—“

“If you still want someone else for a night, Saturday’s still open for me.” Tucker said as he walked past me, slapping my ass. I felt Niall’s fingers tighten around my hand.

“Just ignore him.” I said through clenched teeth, trying my hardest not to reach out and slap the bastard.

“Hey!” Niall called after him.

“Niall, don’t!” I tried to stop him, but he was already pulling Tucker’s shoulder to face him.

“Touch my girlfriend’s ass one more time and I swear to God I’ll beat you into another life.” Tucker let out a dark laugh and rolled his eyes.

“Dude, trust me… next time I touch her ass you won’t know about it.”

Niall’s POV

I was fuming by the time I got back to the apartment with Katie. Who did that asshole think he was!? Katie was my girlfriend. Not someone he could call up for a good fuck when he wanted one. “Niall, calm down.” Katie said and placed a hand on my shoulder. “He’s nobody—“

“A nobody that you have to see at least three times a week for an hour. He’s going to keep making passes at you and that’s bullshit that you have to put up with him.” But this point I was planning on how I could get rid of him, or at least how I could get him to back off my girlfriend.

“Just don’t worry about him. I promise I can handle myself.” She smiled and checked her watch. “You have a class to get to, babe.” She handed me my backpack and sent me on my way.

“I’ll be back soon. Love you!” I blew her a cheeky kiss before walking out the door. On the way to my class, who else did I run into other than Tucker himself?

“Oh, hey… Niall…” Tucker gave me a smug look and walked next to me. “So you and Katie are really a thing, yeah?”

“Yeah,” I answered, keeping my eyes in front of me.

“Too bad… I could have torn her up in bed—“

“Dude! Stop talking about my fucking girlfriend that way! Have some damn respect!” I stopped in my tracks to face Tucker.

“Oh, so you’re gonna be the noble one and stick up for your whore of a girlfriend? Last I heard she slept with some Joseph guy just to piss you the hell off.”

“Don’t. Call. Her. A. Whore.” I said through clenched teeth. “And not even I know if she did it to piss me off or not, but if she didn’t, we wouldn’t be together right now. If Joseph were here, I’d shake his hand.” I could feel the anger boiling in my blood as I towered over Tucker. “Now, kindly fuck off.”

“Nah… I’d rather fuck her.” That did it. I swung my fist at him, hitting his right temple and sending him to the ground. I tossed my books to the side and dove on top of him, hitting whatever I could.

Harry’s POV

I saw some sort of commotion going on a few yards away from me and ran up to see what was going on, only to see Niall on top of some guy and beating the absolute shit out of him. “Niall!” I yell and push through the crowd of people. “What the hell, man!?” I rip Niall off of the guy on the ground, whining and grabbing his rib cage.

“Now, go find some slut in a sorority to kiss your boo-boos and leave my girlfriend alone.” Niall said and wiped blood from the corner of his mouth.

“I don’t even want her anymore… fuck your girlfriend, man!”

“Oh, I will.” Niall smirked, picking up his books and walking off.

“Dude, what the hell was that all about?” I yanked Niall to face me. “The frat has an image, and that isn’t it.”

“Sorry… he said some shit about Katie, and it pissed me off.” Niall shrugged. “I’ll see ya later.”

Katie’s POV

The second Niall walked into the apartment, I jumped off the couch an examined his face. “Are you okay? Harry told Autumn about the fight and—“

“I’m fine, baby.” Niall smiled and leaned in to kiss me, but instead and smacked his cheek. “Whoa! What was that for!?”

“Why the hell would you start a fight over something someone said about me!? Niall, they’re just being immature! And you starting that fight was just stooping to their level!” I sighed and sat down on the couch.

“Katie… I’m sorry. He just… he was saying things about you that wasn’t true, and it really pissed me off.” Niall sat next to me and took my hands in his.

“Niall, I love you, but I can handle it…” Niall pressed his forehead to mine and poked his bottom lip out.

“I know… but I can’t.” I pecked his lips gently and he sighed. “You should have heard what he said about you, Katie… it was disgusting.” Niall rested a hand on my waist and massaged his with his thumb. I bit my bottom lip and connected my lips to his, resting my hands on the side of his face.

“Thank you for being the best boyfriend a girl could ever want.” I said as Niall pulled me onto his lap to straddle him.

“Only for the best girlfriend.” He smirked as his fingers trailed over the slightly exposed skin just above my jeans. I tangled my fingers in Niall’s hair and brought his face to mine, pressing my chest slightly against his. Niall trailed his lips down my neck as he began to unbutton my blouse. I let out a small moan as he found my sweet spot just behind my ear. I lifted his t-shirt over his head and laid him down on the couch, kissing down his chest, only to stop at the edge of his pants when there was a knock at the door. I looked up at Niall and he pulled me back up to him. “Maybe if we’re quiet they’ll go away…” He whispered and brought his lips to mine.

His hands ran up my back, making their way to my bra. “We know you’re there!” A voice said from the door. Niall placed a finger over my lips. We waited before they impatiently began banging on the door. He shook his head and picked me up, carrying me to our room and shutting the bedroom door behind us. I bit my bottom lip as he gently tossed me onto the bed and crawling on top of me. The knocking at the door stopped and Niall cocked an eyebrow and smirked at me.

“Seems we’re finally alone.” Niall connected his lips to my neck as he unbuttoned my jeans before pushing them and my knickers down. I kicked off my sandals and fumbled with the button of his tan shorts, pushing them and his boxers down, leaving him completely exposed as he hovered above me only in my bra. He reached behind me and unhooked it, tossing it to the side before running his hands down my sides and back up my stomach, gently cupping each breast in a hand, massaging them lightly. I bit my bottom lip and sighed, reaching down and taking Niall’s hard on in my hand, pumping up and down slowly as a stream of curse words left his mouth. He removed a hand from my right breast and moved it down between my legs, running his fingers between my folds.

“Shit,” I hissed as Niall swiftly entered his long middle finger inside me. I bucked my hips forward and moved my hand faster around his length before he took his finger out of me. I whimpered at the sudden loss of contact. Niall moved my hand away from his growing length and pinned it above my head.

“Ready?” He asked as he grabbed a condom and pulled it on. I nodded as he positioned himself at my entrance. Niall connected his lips to mine, bit on my bottom lip and roughly thrusted into me. I gasped at the sudden contact and my hands flew to Niall’s biceps, grabbing on as they flexed, holding himself up. Without giving me any time to adjust, he slammed into me again, causing me to nearly scream. “Mm, fuck.” Niall moaned as my nails dug into his arms.

“Faster,” I begged, wrapping my legs around his waist as I got my wish. I moved my hands to his back and dug my fingernails in, knowing it would drive him insane. Niall let out a long throaty moan as he rammed into me harder and faster with every thrust. “Fuck, Niall, I’m so close.” I managed to whimper.

“Me too, baby.” Niall grunted as his thrusts became sloppier. Soon, we were both riding out our highs and Niall thrust one last time, making sure I was finished before pulling out and pulling me on top of him after discarding the used condom. “I love you so much.” Niall said breathlessly and kissed the top of my head as he pulled the covers over us.

“I love you, too.” I whispered, wrapping my arms around his waist.

Niall and I ended up being the best thing for each other throughout college, and we loved each other. He was my other half, and I needed him.

What could be better than being with the one you need?
