Chapter 15

Liam's POV
Wednesday

I wake up to Codi shaking me. It's still dark outside, I can hear the waves are still crashing in.

“Liam, wake up!” She demands.

I rub my eyes and try to focus them.

“What's wrong?”I ask. "Lets go back to sleep." I suggest as I try to puller her back down.

“What time is it?” Codi apparently didn't realize I was asking a question. I dig my phone out of my pocket and check.

“It's 3:45. Why?” I don't understand her concern, and I'm tired.

“I have to go back to my room. If my sister or my parents wake up and I'm not there I'll get in trouble. Mom will probably think I've been kidnapped.” She whispers at me.

I start laughing. “Codi, you're 20, you're not 16.” I try to reason with her, as I pull at my neck and sit up.

“I know Liam, but I'm still their child, and I don't want them to assume I'm doing anything wrong.”

“Have you ever done anything wrong?" I ask intrigued. She can't possible be a virgin.

“Of course I have! But a lot of the times I was at University, they didn't know about it. I'm going to go back, will you walk me please?” She pleads.

Okay, so I'm sure she's not a virgin, but I'm not about to ask. I stand up and brush the sand off my shorts and take her hand. We walk up the sidewalk and up to her room. I watch as she goes to slide the key in the door but stops herself and turns towards me. She opens her arms and pulls me in for a hug. Her hair smells like the sea as she seems to be holding me tighter almost like she'll never hug me again. As she pulls away I see tears in her eyes.

“What's wrong?” I ask, this is so confusing.

“I'm just sad that I leave the day after tomorrow and you can't come with me.” She looks about in tears.

“We will figure it out. You can come visit me, I can come visit you. We can skype, Facetime, call, e-mail. We can figure it out Codi.” I say as I pull her in for another hug and kiss her hair. It breaks my heart that she's crying about this, but in her defense I have my reservations that everything will work out as easily as we say.

“I can't afford to fly to London.”

“I'll fly you out. I'll pay for it.” I say, I know she knows I have enough money to afford it.

“I won't accept it. I can't have you pay for everything. I'm not like that.” She shakes through her words.

“It doesn't matter if you won't accept it. It's happening.” I laugh trying to lighten the mood.

“Well, we'll see about that.” She tries to smile.

“There's the Codi I know.” I smile back at her and pull her in for yet another hug. “Everything is gong to be fine” I talk into her hair.

“I should get to bed.” She says rather sleepy.

“Me too, see you tomorrow morning at breakfast?” I question.

“Wouldn’t miss it for the world.” I say back with a smile.

I watch as she slides her key card in and looks up at me with a smile. She blows me a kiss and walks inside the door, closing it as quietly as possible.

I make my way back to my room, shut the door and crawl into bed. I check twitter for a little bit, but I don't tweet anything. A lot of people still think I'm in London. I like it that way. I realize I haven't taken any pictures with Codi, I should do that tomorrow. I plug my phone in and roll over looking at the moon in the window from by bed. This really has been the perfect holiday.

I awake a few hours later, I hear kids yelling below and the waves crashing. I really need to remember to shut the balcony doors when I go to sleep. But it still makes me smile. I remember making my parents get up extra early when we were younger to go swimming when we were on holiday.

I look at the clock, 7:00, plenty of time to meet Codi for breakfast, all though I'm sure she's already there reading her creepy Black Plague book. She's not like any girl I've ever met. I jump out of bed and pull on my swim trunks and a tank, slip my sandals on and grab my key card. I don't check to see if anyone else is up, they usually aren’t. I almost skip my way to the eating area to meet her. She's doing laundry today. Can you believe it, laundry on a holiday. Doesn't sound like a fun idea to me, but I'll probably still help her. My sisters will say I'm already whipped but I just want to soak up any time I have with her before she leaves.

I spot her at the table we've been sitting at for the last few days. As suspected, she's all wrapped up in her book, no glasses today though. She explained to me yesterday she tries to wear them when she reads so her eyes don't hurt. Sexy no matter what. She looks up at me suddenly and smiles.

“Good morning.” She says.

'Hi. How did you sleep?” I ask as I sit down.

“Fantastic. I woke up with sand all over my bed though.” She marks her spot in her book. “Except when I woke up this morning it was nice not to have someone's toe nails scratching the bottoms of my feet.”

“What are you talking about?” I haven't really clipped my nails in a while I guess.

“Your toe nails! Last night they kept scratching the bottom of my feet! It's like you have talons growing down there.” She continues to chuckle.

“I do not!” I protest.

“You do! I should start calling you Eagle.”

“Eagle?" This girl is confusing me.

“You know, eagle, eagles have talons? I'm sure you can pick up a fish or a snake with those things if you had to.” She's literally in tears laughing.

“Not that funny Codi! I'm going to get breakfast.” I say as I push my chair back and go to the line. I look back and see her still laughing. Apparently she thinks she's hilarious. I'll have to admit it was creative but still.

“Oh, Eagle eye I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you.” She comes up behind me and wraps her arms around my waist.

“So that's why you just called me eagle eye.” I pretend to act hurt.

“Oh you'll be fine. Get some food in your stomach and get over it.” She says as she pushes me forward to the stack of plates.

After breakfast Codi has to run back to her room to get her dirty clothes. She asked me to wait by the washroom door because Maggie is still sleeping and will apparently be extremely hungover. I can hear her before I can see her, dragging her whole rolling suitcase to the washroom. I start laughing.

“What's so funny?” She asks as she stops to look at me.

“Why in the world are you bringing your whole suitcase?”

“Well, laundry baskets don't come with the room so I have to use something! So I brought my whole bag so I can just fold them up from the dryer and put them in the bag. I think it's pretty clever.” She states proudly as she puts money in the machine to get soap and fabric softner. She doesn't sort her clothes, just dumps everything in the washer, pushes a few buttons and presses start.

“Only one load of washing?” I ask hopefully.

“Yep! I could have sorted it or asked my sister if she had anything but I didn't feel like being stuck here all day. I want to enjoy the beach! We're lucky we haven't gotten any rainy days.” She states, I hadn’t considered that yet.

So, favorite tv show?” I ask, I want to get to know her more.

“I'm in love with The Walking Dead. I was afraid of it for a while but once I watched the first season, I was in love. Yours?”

“I've always been partial to Friends.” I state.

“Oh, I love that show! I never get tired of it.” She states as she sits on top of another washing machine.

“Favorite fast food restaurant?'

“Oh, I can't choose. I love Arbys, Chipotle, Church's Chicken, Dairy Queen, I could go on and on forever. I love food.”

I start laughing, I can't help but laugh. Most girls who try to impress me act like they never eat and since I met her I've eaten almost every meal with her and I know she's not afraid to eat, not a lot of food but she eats when she's hungry.

“Favorite club or bar.” I'm trying to think of anything to ask.

“Hahah, don't laugh. But it's this place called “Kitty Cat Klub” it's not a strip club like it sounds. Its close to school and they have great drinks, from what I've heard, food, and live music sometimes. You?”

“I like this place called the Funky Buddah.”

“Well then I guess you can't make fun of the place that I like, yours sounds hilarious as well.” Shes laughing.

“Favorite drink?”

“Like alcoholic?” I nod. “Um, I like long island iced teas, but I can only have like two of those and I'm toast for the night, or I like Rumchata, vodka lemonade, X-Rated. All good things. Non alcoholic I'll just go with plain old water!”She states as we both jump to the sound of the buzzer, the washer is already done. She hops off and pulls her clothes out of the washer to throw in the dryer.

“Almost done!” She exclaims as she tries to lay out on all the washers yawning.

“Tired?” I ask as I walk towards her and jump on a washer patting my leg for her to snuggle up.

“Not really, laundry is just a boring task.” She says as she scoots over and lays her head on my lap. I start running my fingers through her hair as we just sit there waiting.

“Liam?” She asks.

“Yes, Codi?”

“So when I leave the day after tomorrow,” my heart hurts when she says that, “should we just be friends?

I let out a deep breath. It sucks talking about this but it is something we need to do.

“Is that what you want?” I ask.

“No, not really, but I don't know if we have a choice. Were over 4,000 miles apart, and usually Minneapolis is not on a tour stop.” She laughs.

“You're right, I don't really think it's on our agenda. I guess we can just be friends. I don't like saying it but we have to do what's right I guess.” I try to look away from her.

“Okay, then we'll be friends. But only if we can be best friends.” She giggles.

“Oh yes, best friends. Who if they see each other will kiss, hold hands, and go on dates.” I clarify.

“Well that's the only way I'll be your friend so I'm glad were on the same page.”

So we've figured it out. Friends once we leave and nothing more. Probably for the best.

After Codi's laundry is finished, and her yelling at me for apparently terrible folding, we walk towards the beach where we see our parents. Apparently Nicola, Ruth, and Maggie are still sleeping. They're soaking in the sun, well our mums are, our dad's are still sun burnt from yesterday, thankfully my sun burn has already faded into a nice tan, I don't think I got fried like they did.

“Ah, Liam! You're alive!” my mom stands up for a hug, passes me, and give a hug to Codi instead. I see how it is.

“Yeah, thanks for the hug mum.” I laugh.

“Oh, you're fine. I'll have a few extra days with you, Codi and her family are leaving the day after tomorrow! I need to spend time with them!” My mom is too nice sometimes.

“Don't remind me.” I mutter as I take a seat next to Codi. But Codi immediately stands up.

“I'm thirsty, anyone need a drink?” She asks.

“I'll go with you, I could use some water myself.” I stand back up and walk with her to the tiki hut. We grab a bunch of waters and Codi gets ice cream. She has to eat it fast though, it's already plenty warm here.

We spend the rest of the day playing on the beach. Building sand castles, skim boarding, swimming, and resting under the umbrellas. Ruth, and Nicole joined us soon after we met up with our parents, Maggie didn't join us till well after lunch and still looking extremely tired. After dinner and the show we say goodnight and part ways. Thankfully my mom reminded me to take plenty of pictures of us two so I have quite a few of us having fun all day.

I search twitter as I'm lying in bed, I find Codi Jensen, shes smiling in her picture, her last tweet must have been from the airport, talking about how frustrated flights were. I remember her saying that her flight was delayed. I click the follow button hoping some of my fans won't notice, she'll probably get quite a few followers just from this. What I don't really like because I'd rather people not say mean things to her for no reason.

I decide to do a brave thing and upload a pictures of us two in front of our castle, like two five year olds, we both have huge smiles on our faces as our hands are stretched out to show off our masterpiece right before a big wave crashed over it.

I caption it, “Just me and my very best friend. Pic.twitter.com/cA65Huz7wK @codijen”

I probably should have asked Blake if that was okay, but it's too late now. If I didn't want people to hate her, I wasn't doing a very good job protecting her. I guess just another reason to not have a relationship with her, the fans.

I put my phone away, not ready to see comments yet and turn to go to sleep.

@Louis girl

I'm glad you liked it! I probably could have kept going but I didn't want a story that just dragged on and on!

@Emmy2320
I knew you probably wouldn't like the ending, but there is hope in the last section! I'm not exactly opposed to a sequel, I just don't have any idea where I would go with it as of right now. :) I'm working on a new one right now and I'll let everyone know on here when I post it!

I really enjoyed this story even if I am a little sad that they didn't get together! You are an amazing writer and I love that this wasn't a typical story. A sequel would be wonderful but I understand if you don't want to write one! I look forward to reading more of your stories in the future! :)
