Unexpected
Chapter 12
We walked down the hall after Niall and into Liam’s room. There, sitting on his bed, was Liam and a beautiful girl I’d never seen before. She had straight, dark brown hair down past her shoulders and fierce blue eyes. Her smile was definitely one of the prettiest things about her.
“Hi, my name is Aleanbh,” she said, standing and offering her hand for us to shake.
“That’s a pretty name. My name is Chloe,” I told her, shaking her hand.
“Thanks,” she said. “It’s Irish.”
“I’m Tess,” Tess said afterwards.
“It’s so nice to meet you two! Where are you from?” Aleanbh sat down next to Liam on the bed again and began asking us questions.
“A little city in Indiana,” Tess answered.
“Have you graduated?”
I shook my head. “We’re actually going to be seniors next year.”
Aleanbh nodded her head in understanding.
“Can we play some games now?” Louis asked from the couch.
“How about truth or dare?” Harry suggested.
There were murmurs of agreement around the room and everyone formed a circle in the middle of the floor. Our circle went (clockwise) Harry, me, Niall, Liam, Aleanbh, Zayn, Tess, Louis, back to Harry.
“Who’s going to go first?” Zayn asked.
“I’d like to be dared,” Niall volunteered.
“Who would you like to dare you, then?” Louis asked.
“Hmmm,” Niall thought for a moment before his eyes landed on Aleanbh.
A smile formed on her lips as she thought of a dare.
“Niall,” she began, “I dare you to go run down the hallway in your underwear yelling ‘I’m in love!’ and let me get it on video.”
Niall quickly stood up and stripped down to his boxers. He opened the door and looked outside to see if anyone was out there while Aleanbh got her phone ready to record.
“Ready?” Niall asked.
Aleanbh nodded and stepped out into the hallway recording Niall. He left the room and took a deep breath. After a few seconds, he shot down the hall.
“I’m in love! I’m in love!” He yelled down the long hallway, causing people to poke their heads out of their rooms. He turned around at the elevators and came running back. “I’m in love, everyone!”
By this time, everyone was rolling with laughter and Aleanbh had to work to keep the phone from shaking. Niall ran back into the room, followed by Aleanbh, and slammed the door shut.
“That was great! What a way to kick off the game,” Zayn exclaimed.
Niall dressed himself again and sat back down.
“Now we’ll just go around the circle to give dares or truths. Zayn, you’re next,” Liam declared.
Zayn looked around the circle deciding who to pick. “Tess,” he said finally.
Tess’ eyes shot up and she sort of shrunk back. “Truth,” she said quickly.
“Do you have a boyfriend?” Zayn asked.
Tess shook her head. “I haven’t had one since freshman year,” she admitted. I saw Zayn’s smile grow a little wider at her answer.
“Your turn, Tess,” Aleanbh said.
“Liam,” she chose.
“Truth,” he said.
“How did you and Aleanbh meet?”
Liam smiled as he remembered how he had met his girlfriend. “Well, the boys and I had just left the X Factor and were on our way back home. We stopped at a café right outside Wolverhampton and I saw her sitting there by herself on her laptop. I decided I would go say hi and strike up a conversation because… why not? She gave me her phone number and here we are! I couldn’t be happier.”
Aleanbh smiled and gave Liam a kiss on the cheek.
“Louis’ turn,” Niall announced.
Louis’ lips formed an evil smile as he looked at Harry.
“Truth or dare, Harry?”
Harry thought for a moment before answering. “Dare.”
“I was hoping you’d say that.” As soon as those words left his mouth I could tell Harry regretted choosing dare. “I dare you to make out with Chloe. Right here in front of everyone.”
Harry’s face softened when he heard the dare. He probably had no problem with it.
“Only if it’s okay with Chloe,” Harry responded. I was somewhat shocked with his words but quickly became happy that he was looking out for me.
Soon I felt all eyes on me as everyone waited for me to give consent. I felt my shoulders drop in a shrug.
“She’s okay with it!” Tess exclaimed.
“How long?” Harry asked.
“2 minutes,” Louis answered, digging his phone out of his pocket.
“Tell me when to start,” Harry said, turning toward me and locking his eyes on mine. His face began to get closer to mine and I felt my body tense up. I couldn’t believe I was about to make out with Harry Styles. I was still having trouble believing I had even met him.
“Aaaaand… now!” Louis called, starting the timer on his phone.
Seconds later I felt Harry’s lips crash onto mine. His hand found its way to my cheek and rested there. Our lips moved in synch, never missing a beat. It was almost as if they were made for each other.
The room was silent as everyone paid attention to us. I’d always imagined kissing him but never thought our first kiss would be a make out session for a game of truth or dare. I’m not complaining, though. Harry’s a great kisser.
Just as Harry’s tongue brushed my bottom lip, Louis called time.
“Alright, you two, that’s enough,” he said.
Harry reluctantly pulled away. “We’ll have to continue this later,” he whispered. I felt a shiver run down my spine at the sound of his deep voice.
“Your turn, Harry,” Aleanbh said when we were finally separated.
Harry’s eyes instantly fell on Zayn.
“Truth,” he said right away, knowing Harry could be harsh with dares.
“Okay, do you have a crush on anyone right now?”
Zayn’s face grew red as he looked down at the floor.
“That’s a yes!” Liam cried.
“Who is it?” Aleanbh asked.
“It’s Chloe’s turn,” Zayn said, avoiding the question.
“Zayn,” I said right away.
“Dare,” he said quickly. He thought he was in the clear.
“I dare you to tell us who it is that you like,” I said, feeling proud of myself.
Zayn sighed, defeated. “No one can make fun of me. Or her,” he demanded.
Everyone nodded and waited for him to say who it was. Zayn looked up from the floor and over to Tess.
“I like Tess.”
