A Girl Called 'It'
Chapter Six
Kylie's POV
I watched Millie kissing Liam.
"PDA!" I yelled, "PDA!" They pulled back, Millie blushing like crazy. I looked around. Girls were staring at them, their eyes filled with anger and jealousy. I rolled my eyes.
"Earth-to-Millie." I said. She stared dreamily at Liam. "Millie!" I yelled. She turned to me.
"What?" She snapped. I gave her an annoyed look.
"Beurnes. Twelve o' clock." I said. She turned.
"Miss Grey." The principal said. Everyone turned, looking at us. I slid down in my seat.
"Y-y-yes-yeah?" She stumbled.
"Detention. My room. After school." He said, turning. Her mouth hung open.
I spoke up, "Mr. Beurnes, just cause your lonely and don't know what love is doesn't mean you have to take it out on her!" Everyone gasped, and I froze.
"Kylie..." Millie groaned. He turned, glaring at me, face red.
"My office. Now!" I froze, not moving. "Now!" I got up, face red, running out of the cafeteria.
I sat outside the office, shaking. I tapped my foot nervously. And tears stained my cheeks. The principal finally walked in.
"I finally decided your punishment." I froze. Please, no detention for the week.
"You have been suspended for a month." Tears fell down my cheeks.
"For speaking my mind?" I pleaded.
"No. I have checked your attendance. You have too many tardies. And people have seen you leaving the school property. That should've have been just a three week suspension. But, for your un-needed remark in the cafeteria, I have added an extra week." I nodded, looking at my knees. "Your suspension begins immediately. You may take what you need from your locker. Then I order you to leave the school property." I stood up, shaking.
"Mr. Beurnes-" I began.
"Go. Or I will make it longer." I turned, running out of the office. I ran to my locker, slamming the door open. I grabbed everything my arms could carry. I grabbed a paper and a pencil, writing a quick note to the others.
Dear Millie and Meg,
I won't be back to school for a while. Just a month. Don't come over. Please, I'm begging you. I love you guys, remember that.
And I can't let you see this.
I slammed it in the crack, hoping it'll stay until they find it. I closed the locker, walking away from the school as fast as I could.
Millie's POV
"Where's Kylie?" Megan asked. I shrugged, breath heavy. I looked at her locker, finally seeing a note in the crack. I grabbed it.
"Look at this." I said. Liam stood behind me, not saying a word.
"Dear Millie and Meg, I won't be back to school for a while. Just a month. Don't come over. Please, I'm begging you. I love you guys, remember that. And I can't let you see this." I red aloud.
"Can't see what?" Meg asked. I shook my head frantically,"She's not-" I stopped her.
"No! She's not committing suicide. I think. No, she can't. It'd be more emotional." I said, examining the letter. I looked around frantically. People whispered, some staring at us. I panicked.
"Oh my god! We have to go over!" I yelled. Meg shook her head.
"No, we can't! She said-" Meg urged.
"Since when did she know what she was saying?!" I yelled. Heads turned, glaring at us. I ignored them.
"She's right." A voice said behind us. We turned. Niall stood there, hands in his pockets.
"What?" I asked.
"Millie's right. If we go, it could be worse for her." He said, slightly kicking the ground.
"Fine. Let's let her kill herself!" I yelled, stalking off.
Niall's POV
"I don't think she's trying to kill herself." I said.
"How do you know?" Meg asked.
"Because. I just...do." I said, looking away.
"Whatever. I'm late to class." Meg said, walking away with Harry. I sighed.
It's not a suicide note.
It's hiding her bruises.
