Blooming

Party Time

~Lily~

It was the night of Gabrielle’s party and I was still trying to convince Calum to take me elsewhere, anywhere but her stupid party, but he was having none of that. I was wearing a long sleeved, white lace mini dress with a back cut-out, red pumps and matching red lipstick. My make-up was done smokey and my hair was curled and voluminous. Calum was laid back on my bed, his lip drawn between his teeth as he looked me up and down.

“Why do we have to go again? She hates me and she won’t want me there and she’ll just make my night hell or be all over Luke while I have to control my gag reflex.”

“You don’t have a gag reflex,” he told me, quirking his eyebrow up at the memory of one drunk night.

“She’ll give me one.” He chuckled at that. “Plus, I hate this dress on me,” I pouted as I examined myself in the mirror and Calum gave me a ridiculous look as he expelled all his air.

“What?” he exclaimed. “You look fucking hot.” I blushed at his choice of words and adjusted my hair slightly.

“Really?” I asked timidly.

“Yeah,” he nodded. “You make it hard for me to control myself.” I squealed his name, covering my ears. He approached me, removing my hands. “What? I was just being honest with you, and before you can say anything we should get going. You look as beautiful as ever, possibly even more.” I grabbed my jacket and clutch as he dragged me out the door of my- our flat. The boys had helped him move in yesterday whilst Ashton took some of Lauren’s things with him. We had called a car to escort us to the party so if we had too much to drink we wouldn’t have to worry about finding a ride home and a way to get the car the next day.

After a journey filled with us screeching the lyrics to every song that played, soon joined by Lauren and her boyfriend Mark, Ashton and his friend Chantelle and Michael and Danielle, his girlfriend, we pulled up. Luke obviously was forced by management to help her set up so he was already there along with some of her friends. Hah, a girl like her having friend, I know right – it surprised me too. Wow, I really do need to work on my bitchy attitude. Just kidding, this is Gabrielle Aplin’s party we’re talking about, where’s the alcohol? I spotted the kitchen and pulled Cal after me, ignoring the weird looks some people, mainly guys, were giving me. I poured us some shots and took two before Calum had even lifted his first to his lips. I felt a bit better now that the alcohol was in my system, not that it was much but anyway, at least I wouldn’t bite anyone now, probably.

“You should probably calm down Billy,” Cal said with a laugh once his first shot was downed. I shrugged and leaned back against the bench and took in the people around the room, some still with their eyes on me, making me feel uncomfortable.

“Meh, I can regret it in the morning, right now it’s a necessity.” He just shook his head at me.

“Why are people staring at me like that, I feel really uncomfortable, this always happens at parties.” He surveyed the room for a minute before placing his arm around me and sending me a smirk.

“Well the guys, they’re checking you out, and the girls, their jealous because you’ve caught the attention of their man.” I rolled my eyes at his lies.

“Didn’t your mother teach you not to lie?” I asked and he gave me a stern look.

“She did, that’s why I’m not lying to you, honey bunch.” I cringed at the pet name and he laughed, pulling my along with him, probably to find his lover – Luke. Just kidding, but Cake is seriously the cutest thing. Snap out of it Lily.

Gabrielle was perched on his lap when we finally found him sitting with Ashton and Chantelle. We had walked past Michael and Danielle grinding on the dance floor, drinks in hand and I had no idea where Lauren had run off to. Luke and Ashton glared at Calum causing me to look at them in confusion, what was that about? Calum pulled me to sit next to him after he sat there and I stilled stood there confused. Luke’s eyes had been on me the whole time but I didn’t feel uncomfortable under his stare, I was pretty used to it now and it didn’t originally make me feel uncomfortable which was weird. I got comfortable and readjusted my dress as Luke and Gabrielle greeted us, oh the joys of my life. I politely greeted them back, telling Gabrielle that she ran a lovely party as I rested my head on Calum’s shoulder.

Pretty quickly Gabrielle and Luke went dancing and I felt as though I had done something wrong. Luke seemed to be avoiding me a bit lately and the tension between the band is pretty high, expect Michael couldn’t really give two fucks, typical.

“I told you to work on it, didn’t I?” Ashton said, giving Calum an unimpressed look.

“What, I am seriously. Plus, even if I wasn’t he has his own girl now and he’ll just have to remove the stick from his arse.” I gave Telle a confused look but she shrugged, obviously not knowing about it.

“You’re ruining your friendship, I’m not letting you do that.” Ashton said sternly and Cal rolled his eyes.

“He’s ruining his relationship with everyone, go talk to him about that before you lecture me on how to handle my friendships.” I was curious as to what was going on but I figured I would just get it out of drunk Calum later.

“I need another drink, care to join me Telle?” I asked and she quickly got up. Calum shot me a glare but I didn’t pay attention to it, instead taking Chantelle’s hand and walking to the make-shift bar with her.

“What was all that about?” She asked and I couldn’t even answer her.

“I have no idea, it’s been like this since I got back from America. I think there is some problem between Luke and Cal and somehow Ashton got involved but I really don’t know.” I shrugged, accepting the drink she handed me. “Are you having fun?” I asked her and she shrugged.

“Well, it’s been funny to watch Gabrielle all over Luke, and him looking extremely uncomfortable.” I felt a pang of jealous course through me when I heard the first part, but I was happy that Luke didn’t really enjoy it. “Otherwise, it’s alright. There’s alcohol, I just wish Ashton would pay me a bit more attention, and that Gabrielle wasn’t so fake.” Her eyes widened after realising what she had said and she covered her mouth with her hand. “Oh my god.” I laughed at her.

“Firstly, I don’t like Gabrielle so it’s ok, I won’t tell her you said that. And secondly, does someone have a thing for Ashton aye?” I asked and she blushed, quickly blurting a ‘no’ but avoiding eye contact. I hummed, “Sure, well I wanted to speak to Ashton so I’ll see you la-”

“Don’t tell him,” she said and I rolled my eyes, a grin present on my face.

“I always win,” she face-palmed, realising I actually wasn’t going to talk to Ash, I just wanted to know if she did like him. He has for ages. “Don’t worry, I can be very subtle and I won’t tell him you like him. He’s the kind of person who needs encouragement when it comes to these kinds of things. And I’m not doing it now, I like talking to you.” She grinned and bumped her hip with mine.

“You’re pretty cool, I guess.” I raised an eyebrow and she laughed, changing the subject. “So, what’s going on with you and Calum?” she asked and I felt my face scrunch up.

“Nothing is going on with us, why do you ask?”

“And what about you and Luke, or do I need to talk to that boy again?” She asked, avoiding my question.

“Nothing is going on with anyone, I have no idea what you’re talking about. Why do you need to talk to Luke again?” I asked but she ignored me again.

“I see, ooh, let’s go dancing,” she said grabbing my arm and pulling me towards the crowd, near the table the boys were now sitting at. I dismissed the subject of conversation from before and let the beat sink in, letting my body do whatever it wanted. “I forgot to tell you before, but you look smoking tonight love,” she said with a wink and I rolled my eyes, taking in her tight, bright orange dress and white pumps. Her blonde hair cascaded down her back as it usually does.

“If I’m smoking, you need to be extinguished. You’re on fire.” I told her and she chuckled. The boys eyes were on us, well everyone’s but Michael’s as his were on Danielle, as Chantelle’s arms wrapped around my waist, my body moving into hers as we continued to dance, singing along to the songs playing and drinking. Soon enough Ashton came along, swooping Chantelle away to keep for himself. I made my way over to Luke and Calum and sat on the seat between them.

“My boys!” I yelled over the music as I threw my arms over their shoulders.

“You’re drunk, Lil,” Luke said and I rolled my eyes.

“Big fucking deal, loosen up.”

“I can’t, Gabrielle’s on my arse.” I told him to suck it up and turned to Calum.

“What about you? What’s your alcohol content like?” I asked.

“Pretty fucking high, I need to drink to be here.”

“Finally understanding my line of thought, congratulations.”

“That dress looks amazing on you Lily,” Luke told me and I blushed and looked at him through my eyelashes.

“Really?” I asked and he nodded with a smile on his face. “Thanks, I guess.” He was about to say something when Gabrielle came skipping over, pulling him up and telling him to be more fun. I did a little finger wave goodbye as Calum snickered beside me. “I’m tired,” I complained as my head rested on his shoulder.

“Can we drink more of her alcohol and then leave?” he asked and I thought for a moment before remembering how easy it would be to get him to talk about the earlier events if he was drunk so I nodded my head in confirmation, allowing him to lead me to the bar where Gabrielle was lying on the table waiting for him to do a body shot. I rolled my eyes, grabbed a bottle of vodka and led Calum out of the kitchen, grabbing my things and calling for our lift home as we waited on the steps, drinking the bottle I had grabbed.

“We should have done body shots,” Cal complained and I shot him a look.

“And let everyone see my underwear, no thank you. My name isn't Gabrielle,” he sniggered and got up seeing as the car had arrived, helping me up after. My arm went around his waist and his went over my shoulder as I stumbled towards the car in my heels, drinking the whole way. Cal finished the remains of the bottle of before leaving it at her front gate and helping me into the car, getting in himself after. Soon enough we were back at my flat, me with my questions ready, and Calum just being his unaware, innocent self.

Evil smiles… enough Lily, Jesus Christ, you need serious help!
