“(She complains) Doniya for the billionth time, please. Stop eating all of these pastries. You’re going to be the maid of honour, and I want Janelle’s dress to fit you perfectly.” My sister holds the baked piece of dough in her hand, then throws it on the plate; rushing out of the table. To be honest, I never liked the way Perrie deals with any of my family members, including me.
But I guess now that Janelle left, I closed my heart and opened my mind to see the pure reality. I give her a glare, not wanting to yell or preach in front of anyone right now. She stares back at me in complete-fake innocence, and asks: “What?” I shake my head, not bothered to fight with her; throwing my napkin on the table to run behind my eldest sister.
I spot her sitting on a bench out of the hotel, practically at the entrance. There is this mini garden that has a few benches, and to be honest I never focused on this location before. I am noticing so many things at the moment. Little things that could build a skyscraper, if they all where combined together. Shallow? Indeed I am. I focused only on what Janelle was telling me yesterday; clearly shredding my heart into invisible threads. The anger, depression, and the emotional blackout that I was in; was able to blind my vision on what was happening around me.
“Dondon?” I coo to my sister, while I take a seat beside her. “(She speaks quietly, managing her sadness to irrupt externally) You know what? Even if I would stop eating from now till the wedding occurs; I would never be able to fit in her dress. Not because I may weigh a little more than Jan does, but because I can never compare to her. Not only me, Perrie is a great example of what Janelle’s character would be in the opposite side. They are the complete contrast of each other, like an angel and a demon. (She lifts her face, and she notices my tear sliding) I’m not saying this to make you cry, Zayn. (I nod, draping my arm over her shoulders) I just thought that you’d end up with her, instead of Perrie. I would have never imagined that Perrie would be your choice of wife. People get married to physical beauty all of the time, and they forget about the internal. I’m not saying that Perrie is ugly, and neither is Janelle. (I feel her smile lightly) Heck, Jan is way prettier than Perrie. (I laugh lightly, sniffling my nose, as her voice turns serious) But you know why she is little brother? (I shake my head slowly, wanting her to give me her personal answer) I’ll tell you. She treats mum and dad like they are her own parents. She treats Safaa, Waliyha, and me like blood sisters. She doesn’t hurt us or try to make us do what she views as right or wrong. She has… respect, trust, and unconditional love to all of us. This is only the brief of what I could sum up right now. (I nod, as my eyes widen at my sister’s true confession) You know what I feel right now? (I shake my head) I simply miss her around…”
I nod, and for the first time I reply in a hoarse tone, feeling my heart breaking into deeper cutlets: “You’re not the only one, trust me…” Where are you Elle? Where are you baby… Please come back, I just want you to be around; even if I am forbidden from touching you. Right now, I wish you were here with me; with all of us.
