Gone
Eighty-Three
"Kaiaaaaaaaa,"
His voice grew louder as he came closer. As soon as his footsteps had faded away again, I quickly but cautiously crept out of hiding, taking in my surroundings. The room had a stale stagnant smell and there was no toilet paper in my cubicle or even any soap in the dispenser. This was why I didn't like public bathrooms. I was eager to get out of there as quickly as possible.
When I finally poked my head around the doorway, I was attacked by Niall.
"Boo!" he yelled, giggling girlishly, "I knew you'd be in there. I'm pretty sure that's cheating,"
"I needed to use the bathroom," I shrugged, staring at the ground with a small smile.
"Ah, okay, sure you did," he smirked, as if he didn't believe me.
"Hey, Niall," I whispered.
"Yes, Kaia?" He replied in a voice equally as low.
"You're still it,"
He reached out his hand to tag me but I dodged him just in time before taking off again.
My legs ached; my heart was going a million times a second. If I had to run for even one more minute I wouldn't have coped. I used what little energy I had left, to beat Niall to the blanket. He watched as I collapsed on it, my arms and legs sprawled out, purposely taking up the whole thing.
"Move over," he laughed.
I didn't take any notice of him as I moved my body, pretending to make a blanket-"angel".
He shook his head with amusement.
"Seriously?"
I closed my eyes, my body still spread across the blanket.
"Don't make me tickle you! You know that I will,"
Oh gosh. I loved it when he tickled me but my reaction made it embarrassing. I couldn't help that I was incredibly ticklish.
I rolled over onto my side and curled up in a ball with my arms around my legs. He slipped his hands underneath my chest. I could feel his heart beating in time with mine against my back.
"I'm looking forward to tonight. Thanks for inviting me," I said quietly.
I lifted up my head and faced him while I said it so that he could hear me properly.
I was looking forward to it but at the same time I was feeling uneasy about it. What could go wrong with such a caring and considerate boyfriend? What couldn't go wrong? And as I was about to find out, I wasn't wrong.
