Gone
Forty-Two
I could see him sweating like an adorable twelve year old boy about to ask out a girl for the very first time. He shifted from one foot to the other uneasily. He ran a hand through his blonde hair.
"Woah," I laughed, "it's okay. We don't have to go on it if you don't want to. We'll find another ride,"
I started to walk away but when he didn't follow I turned around and beckoned for him to come with me. He sighed and scratched the side of his neck.
"I want to...just hold my hand the whole time, yeah?"
Fuck, he couldn't be cuter. I nodded and led him to the line up which wasn't that long. It looked as though we would be next ones on. Sure enough, less than five minutes later, the ride instructor lifted the harnesses down and fiddled with them to make sure they were secure.
I could tell Niall was freaking out at this stage. He squeezed my hand. I squeezed it back and rested my head on his shoulder. I let my lips press up against him, kissing his neck softly in an attempt to calm him down. His breathing only quickened, each breath becoming sharper. He pulled me away with hesitation.
"As much as I would love to, it's probably not such a good idea to do this now," he giggled.
He pecked me on the lips and closed his eyes, preparing for the ride ahead. The gears clicked continuously as we made our way up the slope slowly, gaining height and speed the further we went. It wasn't long before we could see the whole park. Niall was hyperventilating.
"Don't look down," I yelled over the clunky noises coming from beneath us.
He rolled his eyes.
"Not helping," he shouted back.
We were now just about hanging over the edge of the first dip. As we came down, he let out a girly scream, squeezing my hand even harder than before. The loop the loop wasn't any better. In fact, it was considerably worse. Especially when it got to the upside down bit.
When we got off I half expected Niall to kiss the floor.
"That was invigorating. Let's do it again," he said, his voice raspy from all the squealing.
I burst out into laughter. No way was I doing that again. I was happy I had helped him overcome his fear but bitch could scream.
"Thank you...for helping me get through that,"
I blushed bright red as he kissed me on the cheek.
"No problemo. Where to now?"
He pointed in the direction we had came from.
"Let's just head this way till we find another ride,"
As we sauntered through the alleyways and different pathways, we came to a stall with four rotating clown heads. The owner of the stall was a large man who would've been about fifty. He was also dressed like a clown complete with a plastic red nose strapped to his face and a colourful wig. Curly dark brown chest hair poked up through the top of his stained denim overalls. He gave us a friendly smile.
"Would you like to play? All you gotta do is put six ping-pong balls into the clown's mouth and it will go into one of these compartments. Each one is marked with a score. The higher the score, the bigger the prize. Fifty cents a game,"
Niall handed him a fifty cent piece in return for a bucket of balls.
"Let's do this thing,"
