Day Dreams (Louis Tomlinson)

Ch 19: Half-spirits

*Crystal's POV*

I opened my eyes in my bedroom, awakening to the sound of my bed sheets moving below me. The bright sunlight shined into my eyes, and I blinked at the harshness of the rays. Squinting them, I turned over. I came face to face with Louis. Smiling, as he opened his eyes. He had a frown on his face, and he sighed.

"G'morning, Louis." I mumbled, expecting him to respond.

Instead of responding, he sighed, and stood up.

Oh, wait... I'm.. dead.. I thought bitterly.

I looked at my translucent hands, and stood up. I was still wearing the sundress from when I had woken up in the field, and my hair seemed undisturbed. Well then. I really don't like this sundress. Sighing, I looked up. The portal above me opened, but it didn't show the meadow I had woken up in. Creasing my forehead in confusion, I walked the small invisible steps up through the portal, and found myself in front of some sort of building. I looked in the front, and saw many people walking around inside. Curious, I walked through the glass doors, and walked up to the front desk. Noticing my hands weren't see-through, I knew they could see me.

"Excuse me?" I asked the lady at the front.

The lady looked up. She was pretty. She had strawberry-blonde hair that cascaded around her face, framing it. Her lips were a light pink, thin, too. Her skin was fairly pale, and she had freckles dotting her cheeks and nose. Her eyes were a sea-blue, green lightly lining her pupils. I was immediately reminded of Louis. Mentally sighing, I snapped myself back to reality.

"Ah, you must be new. You are.. Crissy Sakine, am I correct?" She asked, her voice sounding light and airy.

Slightly shocked that this whome I just met knows my real name. I nodded. She smiled, light dimples appearing on her pale, and naturally light pink, cheeks.

"Ah, so you are who we've been waiting for." She said.

She stood up, and I noticed a name tag on her white, flowing shirt. It read 'Angelica Nalton'.

"Where am I?" I asked as she walked around the desk towards me.

"You are in what we call 'Spirit Clan'. It's for the spirits of the dead to come. We are different from 'Earth Spirits' and 'Air Spirits'. We can come and go whenever we please into the Earth realm, while Earth Spirits are stuck there until they fade away, and Air Spirits are stuck viewing in meadows while looking into lakes." She explained.

"Then why did I wake up in a meadow..?" I asked, confused.

She looked slightly confused for a moment, but hid it.

"We'll just have to check." She said.

I nodded, and she started walking down a hallway. Not knowing what to do, I followed her down the hall. We took multiple turns. This place was like a maze. We stepped into an elevator, and went up a few floors. The.. 7th, floor, I think. Once again, she led me down a hall-- a very creepy hall. It's like one of those halls in Outlast. The walls were cracked, some of it already had fallen off and it was laying on the floor. The picture frames were either on the floor, standing against the wall or laying down, or on the walls, tilted and cracked. The lights hanging from the ceiling were dangling from the top, and the light continuously flickered. I was a bit startled at first, but quickly regained composure when Angelica started calmly walking through it. I won't lie, I expected something to jump out at us from one of the doors, or for something to try and break down the doors. I was fairly terrified. Much to my relief, we made it through the seemingly extremely long corridor with no demons or monsters jumping out at us. Walking through the tattered door at the end, it revealed a creepy old library. Stepping inside, I noticed the floor was scratched, and layers of dust coated almost everything.

"Follow me. We'll figure out what's going on with you and why you spawned in a meadow." She said.

Spawned? As in video games? I thought. I chuckled to myself at my thought.

She walked down the library, the only sound coming from our feet and the occasional creaking of the floor beneath us. We reached the end, and Angelica pulled out a thick, leather book from the center of the bookshelf. She blew off a thick mount of dust on it, and flipped open to a random page. I peeked over her shoulder, and on the page where she was reading was Japanese lettering. Much to my own surprise, I read it perfectly.

In translation, it said "Half-spirit. A human that has died before fate has meant it to. A half-spirit will often times be put back into it's body within 4 days. A half-spirit will spawn in a meadow where Sky Spirits often spawn, but be able to enter the Earth Spirit's realms by stepping through the Seeing-lake. Although it may seem good to be brought back to life, half-spirits forget all their memories about six people closest to them, and forget the past two years of their life. Half-spirits don't get their memories back, but the slim 5% of half-spirits get their memories back. If they do get their memories back, it is usually on the day they died of the next year. Half-spirits experience a large amount of pain when traveling back to their body, and often times will panic because they will remember little or nothing of the events that had taken place." I

I sighed. I want to go back, but I don't want to forget everybody.

"Am I a half-spirit?" I asked Angelica.

She looked up and nodded.

"Yes, you are. I'm sorry." She said.

I didn't question her. I knew why she was sorry. I'll forget my best friends, boyfriend, and memories from the past few years. I don't want to forget, though. But I also want to be alive! I felt a tear roll down my cheek.

"It's okay, Crystal. You'll fall in love with him again." She said, answering my thoughts.

I sighed, and turned back around. I walked through the corridor, leaving Angelica to walk by herself. Looking above my head, I summoned my portal to my meadow, and climbed back there. I was once again surrounded by flowers in a meadow, the lake in front of me. I ran towards the lake, and jumped in. When I landed, I was beside Louis in his room. He was looking at pictures we had taken together, and the strange note found on my controller in the other. His eyes were bloodshot and puffy, indicating he had been crying. He was wearing plain jeans and a white tee-shirt, and his hair was in my favorite style. I weakly smiled, and sat next to him. I wished he could see me now, but he can't.

"I love you.. Crystal." Louis murmured to the picture, clutching it to his chest.

He fell back onto his bed, a few tears rolling down his cheeks. I felt my heart crack at the sight, and it basically shattered knowing I couldn't do anything until I was brought back to the dead in a few days.

"LOUIS! LOUIS!" An Irish accent yelled.

Pounding of footsteps came from the hall in front of Louis' door. His door swung open, revealing a very excited looking Niall.

"What?" Louis grumbled.

He set the picture frame back on his end table by the bed, and sat up. Niall looked about ready to explode with happiness.

"Louis! T-The note! It's the room Crystal was in when she was in the hospital! But we don't need that! We found where she's hidden, along with Darcy!" Niall said.

Louis's face broke out into a giant grin at Niall's words.

"Crystal! We're gonna find Crystal!!" He said, jumping up and down now.

'What?! No! No, they can't! They'll just find my dead corpse..' I thought.

A ghostly tear ran down my cheeks. I could already imagine Louis's reaction. He would be so happy to know where I was, but once he finds my body, he'll be a wreck.

"How did you even find out?!" Louis exclaimed.

"Whoever is writing the notes was stupid enough to leave the address on the next note! I had called up the hospital, and they gave me the address!" Niall said.

I felt like dying- again. I didn't want them to see my stabbed corpse. Letting out a wail, nearly breaking the sound barrier of SpiritClan and them.

"Well, let's go! We have to find her!" Louis said.

Just like that, they were gone, looking for what they thought was me, alive.
