My Hero

Carter Lynn’s POV:

Today is the day of my 2nd ultrosound. Since I am only 16, the doctors need to keep track of me and the baby every month. I was glad Harry was coming with me. We walked into the reception area. I saw the judgemental looks again. The words of the kind lady echoed through my mind. Stay calm, I told myself. We were 45 minutes early so Harry and I decided to play a game.

“Ok lets play a game. I say a letter, and you have to pick out a boy and girl name that start with that letter.” he said with a devilish smile.

“Bring it, Curly” I urged.

“Lets start with the letter W.”

“Winston and Wilma.”

“Ok, J.”

“Jordan and Julia.”

“H?”

“Harrison and Hailey.”

“K?”

“Kaleb and Katie.”

We played this game until the nurse called for us. It was the same kind nurse as last ultrosound. Her name badge said Layna. I will have to remember that.

“Hey Carter. Same room as last time,” she say then looked at Harry, “who is this?”

“Its my friend, Harry. He is here for moral support. My mom couldn’t make it.”

“Ok! right this way!”

She led us back to the room. I sat on the table, unbuttoned my pants, and waiting for her to start. While she prepared everything, I confided in her, “Its really wierd. I am only a month along and I am already showing.”

“We’ll just go and check it out. First we will hear the heart beat then do a picture.” She placed the cold liquid on my stomach. I cringed and Harry grabbed my hand. I heard the noise that I hear in my sleep everynight. The sound of the heart beat of my baby. Wait- it doesnt sound the same. I hear a thumpity-thump-thump- thumpity- thump- thump.

“Is the baby alright?” I said worried.

“Lets look at the picture,” she said calmly. She turned it on. I looked at the screen as I gasped. My hand flew over my mouth as I shook my head.

“What is it?” Harry said urgently.

I couldn’t say it so the nurse did.

“Carter is pregnant with twins.”
