A Boy and His Guitar

Three

The first couple of periods were okay. She had math, which she was held back for, social studies, art, and geometry before lunch.

"Ms.Constellation," the math teacher said, "What is the answer to this problem?"

Clarity looked at the equation.

(568.24x1639)+ 19369836.2= A

Clarity looked down. She didn't know the answer.

"I'm sorry, ma'am. I cannot tell you, for I don't know the answer myself," she said, slumping down.

The math teacher, who Clarity thought who's name was Ms.Albercathy, nodded and went around the room, trying to find the answer.

When three other children failed to answer the question, the Ms.Albercathy gave up. These children were delinquents, just like Clarity.

The bell suddenly struck, and the teenagers shot out of the room like lightning striking Earth.

"I'm sorry, Ms.Albercathy," Clarity apologized when she thought all the kids had files out. The teacher, looking up from her text book, smiled and nodded.

"You'll get the hang of it. I will not tolerate you getting held back another year," the woman declared triumphantly.

Clarity nodded and went back to her locker, still struggling to figure out the twists and turns of the hallways.

She had gotten back to her locker, and put her stuff away. Then, out of nowhere, Jessy was there, waiting for her so he could show her to the cafeteria.

"Let us go forth to thow cafeteria!" Clarity smiled at the boy, her pearly teeth showing.

Jessy led her into an unfamiliar hallway, and finally, they were at the bug metal doors. She could hear the teenagers's voices, yelling, screaming at one another.

Jessy pushed open the doors and, somewhere along the lines, got separated from Clarity. The girl looked for her only friend, but had no such luck in spotting him. It might as well be a real life Where Is Waldo.

Clarity's eyes fell upon one, small, table. Only one person was there, siting alone, eating his sandwich. The boy with the guitar.

Clarity took her lunch, which was an apple and a water bottle, and walked over to the boy's table, scared of being rejected.

"You know, I think you would be more friendly an talkative if you had a friend," she said, sitting down across from the boy.

She felt people's eyes burning holes into her back, her sides, her everywhere, Clarity didn't care. This boy needed to learn how to interact with people.

"You shouldn't be here," he growled lowly. "They'll come after you, too."
