Do you wanna build a snowman? Ha-ha

Isabelle's P.O.V

The icy wind bit at me and I zipped my fur-lined jacket up a bit more. Harry wore an adorable gray beanie and a black jacket, zipped up past his lips, just so that way it’d be hard for anyone to recognize us. We were sitting on a cold bench at the park, watching Lux play around in the snow, and I was freezing my ass of. Literally.

“She’s cute, huh?” I asked, smiling lightly as I observed Lux, who picked up a large pile of snow in her mitten-clad hands and threw it up into the air, giggling as it fell back around her.

Harry put an arm around my shoulder and sighed as I leaned against him, “She is. But you’re beautiful.”

I made a cooing sound and nuzzled my nose against his cheek. Just then, my phone vibrated in my pocket. I quickly fished it out, only to find that Eleanor was calling me.

“Who’s that?” Harry asked curiously.

“El,” I replied, and then I stood, “I’ve got to take this. Go play with Lux,” I added, smiling, and Harry smirked but got up and ran over to Lux, picking her up and throwing her over his shoulder. I laughed.

I took a few steps away from the bench we’d been sitting on and put the phone to my ear, “Hello?” I said, even though I already knew who it was. Force of habit, I guess.

El’s voice was rushed, panicked, and I immediately became nervous, “I have a baby bump!” she screamed, “I have a fucking baby bump!” She laughed, shrieking with joy, and I calmed down. I’d thought she was going to say something terrible.

“El, that’s great,” I said, grinning, “How big is it?”

“Very small,” she said breathlessly, finally calming down, “Really, really small. But I can still see it. I have a fucking baby bump, Isabelle.”

“So I’ve been told,” I chuckled and put a hand to my stomach mindlessly. No, I wasn’t pregnant, but I’d never been around anyone that was pregnant. I felt so happy for El, but I wanted her to tell Louis.

I must’ve said this out loud, because El suddenly quieted down, “I’m trying Isabelle,” she said weakly, and I immediately felt guilty, “But I can’t find the right time. I’m trying.”

I tried to console her right away, “Hey,” I said gently, “Hey, it’s okay. Tell him when you’re ready. Just…just don’t put it off for too long, okay?”

There was silence on the other end. Finally she said quietly, “Okay.”

“Good,” I said, “Now, let’s talk about the fact that you have a ‘fucking baby bump’.” She giggled, and so did I, mainly because she never swore. We chatted about anything and everything for the next few minutes until I realised that Harry and Lux were still here. I peered over my shoulder at them, only to find that they were both sitting on the snow-covered ground, making what seemed to be a snow castle. Harry grinned at Lux, and I took a moment just to marvel at how amazing he really was.

I smiled subconsciously and just took in the scene before El snapped me out of it.

“Did you hear me?” she asked. I squeezed my eyes shut briefly before flashing them open again and turning back to the conversation, “Sorry, what?”

She giggled, “You have to help me think up names.”

I chuckled, “My opinion doesn’t really matter in this El. It’s your baby.”

“I know, but still.”

“Okay,” I gave up, smiling lightly, “Right now?”

“No!” El practically yelled, which made me laugh, “God no! I mean later! Come over sometime, and we can discuss all of the details.”

I giggled, “You make it sound like we’re planning a wedding or something. Or is that something you’ve been keeping from me too?”

El laughed a tinkling laugh, making me smile, “No, no weddings just yet. Just babies…lots and lots of babies.”

“You’re having twins?” I yelled, and she hastened to amend things, “No!” she burst into laughs, “No, Isabelle, it was a figure of speech!”

She broke out into loud yet sweet giggles, making me laugh even harder. God, I could be so stupid at times.

I gazed back at Harry and Lux, “I have to go right now. But I’ll talk to you later, okay?”

“Definitely,” she said firmly, “Bye Isabelle.”

“Bye Eleanor.”

I smiled to myself and slid the phone back into my pocket, cautiously making my way back over to where Harry and Lux were still piling snow around. Lux shrieked in delight and stood shakily, and jumped into the pile. Harry laughed—hard—and tickled her, and she giggled loudly. I walked over to them.

“Hey baby,” Harry looked up, still tickling Lux. She screamed, trying to crawl out from under him, but he caught her around the waist and lifted her up.

“No!” she laughed, smacking his shoulders, but he didn’t let go.

“Hi,” I said, still marvelling at how good he was with kids. It amazed me to think that we’d never spoken about it before. No, not now Isabelle, I told myself. I had enough on my plate. Everything that had happened with the couple’s sessions, Harry’s jealously, and El’s pregnancy was enough; I shouldn’t be adding even more things.

“Ready to go Lux?” Harry asked playfully, looking at the little girl in his arms. “Yes!” she cried, and he chuckled. He leaned down to kiss me, and I happily reciprocated, humming when we pulled back.

“Want to go back home?” I asked, “My feet kind of hurt, and I think people are starting to notice us.”

I had just said that purely to go back home, but suddenly, about a dozen girls ran up to us, breathlessly asking Harry if he could sign an autograph. I studied them and found that the oldest one looked to be no more than twelve.

Harry shot me an apologetic look, but I shrugged, smiling. “Could you hold Lux?” he asked, and I nodded, neatly plucking the little girl out from his arms. She smiled at me, and we took a few paces away from Harry.

“Guess it’s just you and me Lux,” I sighed, raking my fingers through my hair. She gripped onto a small piece and tugged on it. It didn’t really hurt, and I laughed good-naturedly.

Suddenly, I felt someone tap my elbow, and I looked down, only to find a little girl who looked to be about six standing there. A woman stood a few feet away, and I guess that she was her mother.

“Excuse me?” the girl asked. She had reddish hair and brown eyes, “You’re Isabelle Foster?”

“Yeah,” I said, smiling down at her. I crouched down, still holding Lux, “Do you need something, cutie?”

She blushed, and timidly asked, “Would you mind taking a picture with me?”

The question caught me off guard, and my eyes widened slightly. Why did this girl want to take a photo with me? I wasn’t famous, I wasn’t pretty, and I wasn’t even close to what Harry could give her. Why was she here, asking me—of all people—to take a picture with her? Especially with Harry only standing a few feet away.

“Please?” he mother added, “She’s really excited.”

I hefted Lux a big higher into my arms and stood up, “O—of course,” I said, still a bit shocked, “Can Lux take the photo too?”

The little girl smiled widely, portraying two missing teeth, “Of course!” she said, and then she came to stand at my side while her mother fumbled with the camera. Finally, when she got it straight, she held it up, her finger poised over a button.

“Ready?” she asked, and once we nodded, she grinned, “Say cheese!”

“Cheese!” the little girl and I both said, and Lux shrieked happily. Once the photo was taken, the girl laughed at how cute Lux was, and then wrapped her arms around my legs, hugging me.

“Thank you Isabelle!” she said into the fabric of my jeans.

I laughed nervously, not really sure what to make of this. “You’re welcome,” I said, and she happily turned back to her mother, holding out her hand. They walked away hand-in-hand, and I smiled at the scene. My eyes watered slightly; I remembered what that was like.

Suddenly, Harry was back at my side, out of breath, “Ready to go?” he asked, and then he noticed that I was crying, “Hey,” he cooed, taking my face in his hands, “What’s wrong baby?” he used his thumb to wipe away a single tear that had fallen.

“I just—,” I broke off, staring at the mother-daughter duo, “They’re adorable, aren’t they?” I asked, referring to them.

Harry kissed my lips lightly, “Your mum is here baby. She’s always here, okay?”

I nodded quickly, wiping my eyes, and Harry took Lux from my arms. We quickly made our way over to his car and I slid in while he buckled Lux into her car seat. She clapped her hands lightly. Eventually, he slid in next to me and stuck his key into the ignition, and the car rumbled to life. He then turned to me.

“I love you,” he said quietly, taking my face in his hands again and kissing my forehead softly.
I nodded, “I love you too,” I said, my voice clogged.

He smiled, kissed my lips one last time, before revving the engine.
