Chapter 83
Tuesday 11th September, 2028
Harry’s P.O.V
I got out of bed and turned on the TV. Maddie is at work at her company today so I’ve got the house to myself because she’s already dropped all the kids off at school/nursery. I offered to do it but as she was going that way for work anyway there didn’t seem to be any point. The twins go to nursery on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays now. I turned it onto E! News and watched as I was getting dressed. A picture of Belle came onto the screen and I groaned.
“Annabel, now Glover again, was seen driving to the airport and flying out of the state of California with her son Andrew today after former husband Niall lost custody of him in their divorce battle earlier this week. The custody ruling was finalised yesterday and she wasted no time in making sure Niall would have no contact with his son. Annabel moved out of their family home with Drew a week before Niall spent 2 weeks in Australia with fellow former band members as well as 5 Seconds of Summer. When he got back, proceedings started at the Divorce Court of California and Maddie Styles was involved to try and get our favourite Irish man custody of his son.
Annabel’s plane was destined for Texas so I guess the Californian born woman wants to try and have a crack at the Texan lifestyle. Either way, this just puts a cherry on top of the cake for Niall’s worst week ever.”
The reporter read and I picked up my phone.

I agree with you there Mads. I went downstairs and decided to just chill out today until the kids come home. I watched some of the things I had recorded on TV and then went out into the garden and got in the pool. I swam around for a bit before heading upstairs to the gym. I worked out listening to some random music and then had a shower, just in time for the kids to get home. Brooklyn and Adam walked in the door as I got downstairs and Maddie came in with Lis and the twins minutes later. That’s the end of my peace then. The twins ran to me and I hugged them before they ran out into the garden.
“I guess we’ll never be seeing Drew again…” Maddie muttered. “I don’t have the heart to break it to Lis. She’ll be devastated. She already asked me why he wasn’t at school today. They’re best friends and Belle ripped that away from both of them. She doesn’t care who she hurts and I hate her for it.” She said.
“I’ll tell Lis, she needs to know or she’ll just keep questioning.” I replied and Maddie nodded as I called Melissa down. “Sit down honey; I’ve got something to tell you.” I said and Lis sat down. I crouched down in front of her. “Okay? You know Mummy has been going out for long days recently for Uncle Niall?”
“Yeah?” She whispered.
“Well him and Auntie Belle were getting divorced. They both wanted to keep Drew, but only one of them could. Mummy was trying to help Uncle Niall get to look after him.”
“Okay?” Lis said, just loud enough for me to hear.
“But it didn’t work honey. Auntie Belle got to look after him, and she’s moved away. That’s why Drew wasn’t at school today. He’s moved to a different part of America and I don’t know when you’ll see him again but he’s not going to be at school anymore,” I tried to break it to her as gently as I could but she burst into tears and clutched onto me.
“I’m not going to see Drew anymore?” She questioned and a tear rolled down my face.
“No princess, I’m sorry.” I hugged her tightly and she sobbed into my shoulder. Maddie came and sat down, sitting Lis on her lap, letting her cry into her instead. Maddie rocked her back and forth on her lap and Lis gradually fell asleep. Our 6 year old daughter just cried herself to sleep because of Belle. I got my phone out and went on Twitter.
“@Harry_Styles: Thanks to the woman who took Melissa’s best friend out of the state without even letting him say goodbye to her today. She has just cried herself to sleep.” I tweeted it and Maddie took my phone.
“It’s accurate. Niall would have let him say goodbye. Niall was going to be nearer his family which would have been beneficial to Drew too, Niall had better intentions.” She whispered, kissing Lis’ head, still rocking her back and forth. After I had given the kids dinner and put the twins to bed, Maddie took Lis upstairs. “She woke up as soon as I let go of her and started crying again. There is no way she’s going to school tomorrow and I’m letting her stay in our bed tonight. I’m going to go to sleep with her now because she needs sleep.” Maddie told me and I agreed and kissed her goodnight.
“What’s wrong with Lis?” Brooklyn asked.
“We told her that she wasn’t going to see Drew anymore,” I said.
“I saw that Belle moved away, to Texas.” She nodded.
“Let’s just say she’s not your godmother anymore. She broke my best friend and ran off with his son. That’s about as low as you can get.” I shook my head. Brooklyn nodded and went back upstairs. I followed after her a few minutes later and got into bed next to Lis who was clutching onto Maddie with tears still running down her face, even in her sleep. I sighed and turned the light off, putting my arm around Lis.
Saturday 15th September, 2028
Niall is all packed and ready to go so I guess it’s time to say goodbye to the last of my bandmates. We walked over to his house and he said goodbye to the kids first. The ‘For Sale’ sign outside his house just brings everyone back to reality.
“I’m gonna miss you Irish,” Maddie hugged him tightly.
“Thank you for coming to court with me, I don’t think I could have made it through all of that without you Mads,” He said to her.
“It’s okay. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you get custody.”
“What’s done is done, I’m not gonna hold a grudge. I’ll see you when you come to Ireland on tour okay?” He said and she nodded, kissing him on the cheek. Then she pulled away and he came over to me. “I guess the last part of One Direction is splitting up,” He said, pulling me in for a hug.
“I’m gonna miss you man. I’m sorry Belle took your son away.” I apologised.
“There was nothing any of us could do about it. It’s done now. I’m gonna miss you too but I’ll see you soon okay? Us lads need to have a reunion every couple of months.”
“We do, I agree with you on that one.” I said and we pulled away.
“I guess this is goodbye guys,” He got into his car which is getting transported over when he’s flown back. We all waved as he drove off down the street and Maddie leant in next to me.
“They’re all gone now,” she murmured, her voice cracking.
“It’s gonna be okay baby girl, we’re gonna be okay.” I said and she nodded. We walked back home and the kids all went upstairs. It isn’t easy saying goodbye to someone who you’ve spent 18 nearly 19 years with. I’m just glad he shared Thursday, his birthday, with us. Next is Lis’ 7th birthday. I can’t believe she’s nearly 7. It’s crazy.

I know right! He is part of the One Direction Legend that is still living on and he is being carried along with it.
