Chapter 82
Monday 10th September, 2028
Maddie’s P.O.V
It’s the final day of court proceedings and it’s not looking good for Niall. The divorce has been finalised in his favour with him getting most of his money and possessions back but the custody is decided today. I’m not needed for evidence anymore but I’m still here to support Niall.
“We’ve spoken to Andrew and he has confirmed that he would rather stay with Niall.” Judge Hawthorn said and Niall looked up at me in the gallery. I nodded at him and he turned back to the judge. “However, on the basis of what has been discussed in this very court room, we have dismissed Andrew’s statement and made a judgement on what we have seen happen.” Niall looked back up at me and I realised this is his breaking point. “Custody of Andrew Benjamin Horan goes to…” Time seemed to stop. “Annabel Natalia Glover.” The judge said and Niall broke down as I refrained myself from screaming at the judge. “We have chosen this because Niall plans to move back to Ireland and we feel this will be too much disruption for Andrew and he needs stability at this age.” The judge said and we all stood up as he exited and then I quickly walked out of the gallery and down to meet Niall. He ran into my arms and I held him while he was sobbing.
“I have 24 hours to say goodbye…” Niall sobbed.
“C’mon, I’ll take you to him.” Drew is staying at one of Belle’s friend’s houses for now because I wasn’t allowed to have him because I could have been called in. Niall collected his stuff and we walked out of the court hand in hand. I don’t care what the press makes of this, he needs me right now. We got into my car because Niall has been staying at a hotel round the corner and got a taxi here in the first place. I drove to Jordan’s house, one of mine and Belle’s friends from college and parked outside. Drew ran outside at the sound of a car and Niall got out.
“Daddy!” Drew ran to him and hugged him.
“I love you son,” Niall sniffed, “but you’re not coming home with me. You’re going with your mum. I’m so sorry.” He said, as he crouched down to his height.
“Should we go inside?” Jordan suggested and I nodded at her as Drew and Niall went in with me following. Niall sat on the couch with Drew on his lap.
“I will get you back one day, I promise,” Niall said as another tear fell from his eye. It reminds me so much of what I did when I lost Brooklyn. Niall spent around an hour with Drew before Belle turned up. Drew refused to talk to her and Niall said goodbye. “Never forget that Daddy loves you okay? I’ll see you again one day. You’re my son and I will never ever forget about you. No matter what happens, I still love you and I wanted you as much as you wanted to stay with me. Be good for your mum okay?” Drew nodded as Niall choked out the words. “Bye Drew, I love you so much,” Niall hugged him one last time and Drew clutched onto him. Niall pulled away and I could tell it was killing him having to prize his child’s hands off of him. He walked out and I hugged Drew and followed after Niall, not before muttering a few words to Belle.
“I will never forgive you for this.” I walked out of the door and shut it behind me. I unlocked the car and Niall got in. I drove him home and hugged him before he got out and went inside. I drove back home and walked inside. Harry was waiting and rushed over to me once he saw the tears running down my face. “He lost him. H-he lost custody.” I sobbed and clutched onto Harry.
We sat embraced in each other’s arms for hours. The phone rang and I answered it. “Hello?”
“Hey, I’m guessing it didn’t go well?” Eleanor’s voice came through the phone.
“He lost him El. I watched him say goodbye to his son and it was heart breaking. Drew told the court that he wanted to live with Niall but they dismissed his opinion because Niall is moving back to Ireland and Drew needs stability.” I told her.
“What’s the betting Belle has left the state by next week?” She asked.
“About 99.9%,” I said.
“Niall should have gotten custody. That’s ridiculous. Anyway, I know it’s late over there so I’ll let you sleep. Love you Mads. Louis said he loves you too, oh and Harry.” El laughed slightly.
“I love you guys too and I’ll tell him, goodnight.” I said and she hung up. “Louis said he loves you.” I told Harry and he laughed.
“C’mon, bed time.” He stood up and we went upstairs and got into bed, falling asleep in each other’s arms.

Put down the pitchforks. Don't kill me, this needs to happen for something else in the story to happen. Well, none of you saw that coming. Such a short chapter but very emotional (for me anyways). Enjoy, I'll give you a double update today so the next one will be up in about an hour.
