Overworked

Harry’s P.O.V
-1 week later-
We’re at the airport in Australia getting ready to go back home. The kids are running around doing god knows what and Maddie is sighing every time they move, knowing she has to go after them. I got my phone out and went on Twitter, its Liam’s birthday today and I can’t not tweet him.

After I tweeted, our flight was called and I stood up picking up my bag and Amelia and Freya’s bags while Maddie had her bag and held the twins’ hands. We walked to the gate and were let on straight away. A 16 hour flight is not going to be fun. Maddie fell asleep pretty much straight away and I don’t blame her, she’s been rushed off her feet lately. We took off and I watched the kids play with their toys and things until Maddie woke up. Then I went to sleep and I think I slept for the remainder of the flight. Mads woke me up as we were landing and then we got off of the plane going into the airport. Maddie got the stroller from the luggage belt while Brooklyn, Adam and I looked for the suitcases. Maddie put the twins in and sat down waiting for us. We got all of the suitcases and went over to her. She looks exhausted. She stood up and I took the stroller and pushed it with one hand, pulling the suitcase with my other one. We got to the car and I unlocked it and Maddie got in. I put the kids in and then all the luggage. I got in and drove home. Maddie got out and went to the door unlocking it. The kids got out and went inside and I took all of the suitcases in. I put the car in the garage and went inside. Maddie wasn’t around so I assume she’s gone upstairs to sleep. She has honestly not slept in the last week. When they told her she had to get songs written she decided she was going to work at night and spend time with us in the day, we weren’t sure about it but she really wanted to. She’s written 8 songs for her album so far and has another 8 to write soon. She has to get them done within two weeks because her album comes out in a couple of months and they need to record them too. Then she’s got the business to run as well. I really don’t get how she does it but she does somehow. The kids went upstairs to their rooms and I took the twins downstairs and put them down for a nap. They fell asleep quite quickly and I went up to my room. Maddie was lying on the bed with her song book out. I sat down next to her and kissed her cheek.
“What’ve you got so far?” I asked and she read out the lyrics she had. “They’re really good babe.” I told her and she yawned. “Go to sleep baby.” I said and she shook her head.
“I’ve got to do this and I’m not sleeping until I’ve done it.” She said.
“Fine,” I stayed next to her and smiled as she sang her lyrics to herself. She got her guitar and wrote the music for it as well. After about 2 hours of watching her I decided to go downstairs and see if the kids were okay. Lis, Adam and Brooklyn were all asleep and the twins were playing with their toys in their rooms. I decided to go and get Charlie from Gabrielle’s and went up to tell Maddie. She nodded; still engrossed in writing her song and I went and walked to Gabrielle’s. It took me about 10 minutes and I was talking to her and Rob about Maddie and Australia for a few minutes. I walked back with Charlie and let him go inside first. I took my shoes off and then went up to check on Maddie again. She was fast asleep, her head on her song book and her guitar in her hands. She’s so tired bless her. I took the song book and closed it placing it on her nightstand and put the guitar back in its case. I pulled the duvet over her and kissed her cheek, leaving her to sleep. She does need to take a break sometimes. I went down to the twins and made sure they were asleep before going to bed myself. It’s early here in LA but it has been a long day for us.
Maddie’s P.O.V
I woke up to my phone ringing on my nightstand. I managed to get it and answer it. “Hello?”
“Maddie? I need you to come to the studio as soon as possible please. We need to do work on this album. We need the rest of the songs written by the end of this month, which is 2 weeks away. I’m sorry.” Simon told me.
“Okay, fine, I’ll be there in an hour.” I told him, hanging up. I climbed out of bed, trying my best not to wake Harry and went to my suitcase. I don’t have time to unpack it now so that will have to wait until I get back. I grabbed an outfit and went into the bathroom. I had a shower and put my clothes on before doing my make-up. Once I was finished, I left the bathroom, wrote a note for Harry explaining where I was going and picked up my bag, phone, guitar and song book. I left the bedroom and ran down the stairs.
“Mummy? Where are you going?” Lis came out of her room.
“Work baby, have a good day,” I kissed her head and ran down to the living room. I pulled on my shoes and grabbed my car keys before running out of the garage door and getting into my car. I looked at the clock in my car and realised I need to be at the studio in 5 minutes. Why am I always late? I sped out of the garage and driveway, checking that the garage door and gate shut behind me and then drove off down the road, pulling my seatbelt on as I went. I drove as fast as I could without breaking the law to get to the studio. This job is so tiring. I really need sleep now but instead I’m on my way to the studio to write songs. I pulled into the studio parking lot and got out of the car grabbing my stuff as quickly as I could. I went inside and the receptionist, Hilary, greeted me.
“Hello Ms Styles, you’re running a bit late, everyone is already in your usual room.” She told me and I thanked her. I walked into the room and they turned to look at me.
“An hour, huh?” Harriet turned to me.
“Sorry! Simon woke me up by calling. I got back from Australia yesterday remember?” I sat down.
“So did I, yet I still managed to get to work on time. Be more punctual in future please Maddie, we have a lot to do.” She reminded me.
“I know.” I said and gave her my song book. “There’s 2 more songs in there, music and all.” I told her. She nodded and opened the book looking at the new songs.
“Good, with a few tweaks, they’ll be perfect.” She approved them. I breathed a sigh of relief and we set to writing songs.
