Overworked

-2 weeks later-
“What’s the matter?” I asked. Jake has been sitting here all evening not talking to me and ignoring me. He opened his mouth but decided against it.
“You-you still love him don’t you?” He whispered, this is the one thing I wish he didn’t know about.
“A bit but it’s hard to get over someone you’ve been with for 13 years in a few months. I’ll be over him soon.” I sighed. Jake’s face looked even sadder than before.
“I can’t keep waiting Maddie. You don’t realise how much I want you to love me but you’re still hung up on the guy who called you a psycho a couple of weeks ago. Why? I can’t keep messing with Josh’s head so decide. It’s me or Harry.” He said. How am I meant to do this? If I choose Jake he’ll never let me near Harry again but if I choose Harry we can be happy again with Emma gone now.
“I-I choose Harry. I’m sorry. I love him. I really like you but I have to choose Harry. I’m sorry.” I said starting to cry.
“That’s fine. I just want to know. I’m going to go and get my stuff.” He said and stood up. I broke out in tears as he walked into my bedroom. I really like Jacob and I don’t want to give him up. “See you around,” Jake came back with his gym bag containing all of his stuff.
“Sorry.” I sniffed and got up to hug him. He hugged back awkwardly and then left the apartment. I hate being on my own.
-1 week later-
Harry’s P.O.V
“Have a good day at school,” I dropped Lis off. I’m on my way to see Maddie. She hasn’t been to work all week and all she’s posting on Twitter are depressing tweets. Isabelle was worried about her so asked me to check on her. I got to the apartment block and walked in up to Maddie’s apartment. I could hear sniffing from the other side of the door. I unlocked the door and Maddie was sitting on the couch crying. She looked up and looked shocked to see me. “What’s the matter?” I asked sitting next to her. She just shook her head. I pulled her in for a hug and her body felt so right against mine even if she was crying. She buried her head into my chest and continued to cry, soaking my shirt. “I’m not leaving until I find out why you’re like this.” I told her.
“Jake ended things. He made me choose between you and him.” She replied.
“And you chose me?” I questioned with wide eyes. Why did she choose someone that only ever hurts her over him?
“Of course I did Harry. I love you.” She whispered.
“Then why are you crying? You’ve been in here for a week.”
“It’s not just him. It’s everything, the hate, the kids, us, my friends, work, it’s just too much.”
“Everything will be okay, don’t worry about it. Stop stressing yourself out.” I pushed her hair behind her ear. It amazes me how she still manages to look gorgeous even when she’s a crying mess.
“Do you still love me? Is that why you dumped Emma?” She asked.
“Yes. I love you so much. She wasn’t worth the hassle when I know all I was trying to do was put my mind off of you. There was no point.” What she did next was not what I expected. She looked up at me and thought for a moment before crashing her lips into mine. This feels so good. Better then Emma ever would. She pulled away and looked down again. I put my fingers under her chin and pushed her head up so she was looking at me. “I love you.” I told her. She smiled.
“I love you too.” She replied. I hugged her for a bit and then her phone started ringing.
“If it’s him telling you he made a mistake and wants you back tell him to go fuck himself because you’re my girl again.” I said and she laughed and pulled away to answer it. She put it on speaker and answered.
“Hello?” Maddie said.
“Is that Mrs Styles?” A woman asked. I smiled and Maddie smiled back at me.
“Yeah it is.”
“Hi, this is Beechwood Elementary School; we have your daughter Melissa here complaining of a stomach ache. She says she told her father about it this morning but he still insisted that she went in. We tried to contact him but couldn’t get hold of him. Is there any chance you can come and pick her up?” The woman asked.
“Can I speak to her?” Maddie said.
“Hello?” Melissa’s voice came through the phone.
“Hey baby, what’s the matter?”
“I’ve got a tummy ache Mummy. Daddy wouldn’t let me stay at home.” She said. Maddie just looked at me and I shrugged.
“Can you really not manage the rest of the day? I have loads of work to do princess.” Maddie said.
“It hurts Mummy. Please.” Lis begged.
“Fine. Tell your teacher that I’ll be there soon but you’ll have to come to work with me.” Maddie reasoned.
“Okay Mummy. Love you.” Melissa agreed.
“Love you too princess.” Maddie said and hung up.
“You’re not working though?” I questioned.
“I’m gonna have to aren’t I? Lis will only question why I’m off.” Maddie got up and went into her room. She came out a few minutes later with her bags and the twins. She was wearing a purple dress and it looked so hot. “Here,” she handed me Freya and Amelia. “I’ll come round later to drop Lis off and pick them up again.” She kissed me. “Oh, and tidy up will you?” She smirked.
“Yeah okay, see you later,” I kissed her again and she ran out of the door, shoes in hand.
Maddie’s P.O.V
I got down to my car and put my shoes on. I can’t believe I did that. I didn’t mean to kiss him it was just a heat of the moment thing. I sped out of the parking lot and to Lis’ school. I got there and walked inside straightening out my dress. I went to the office and Melissa stood up.
“How ya feeling?” I asked picking her up.
“I feel sick.” She said nuzzling her face into my neck. I signed her out and took her back to the car.
“If you need to be sick you tell me okay?” I told her. She nodded and I strapped her into her car seat. I drove to work and got a text on the way.

How is she? Your apartment is tidy by the way x
To: Harry
She’s fine. I’m gonna take her to work with me and I’ll bring her home later x Thank you xx
I got out of the car and took Melissa inside. I went into my office with her and there was a massive pile of paperwork on my desk.
“You sit there, if you need to be sick, the toilet is in there.” I said pointing at various places. Lis nodded and sat down on the chair. I gave her my phone to play on and she sat happily playing her games. I logged onto my computer and did all of my paperwork. “Come on baby, I need to check on something.” I held out my hand. She followed after me still playing on my phone. I went down to the factory floor and spoke to Kate, the manager of it.
“Everything’s on time. We’ve got a few orders going out to shops later today but other than that we’ve got a slow day. How come you’ve got your little munchkin with you?” She looked at Melissa.
“She’s ill. Her school phoned asking me to pick her up so I had to bring her back here.” I explained. We talked a bit more and then Lis and I went back up to my office. I finished my work for the day and went back to the apartment. I got back and took Lis upstairs to my apartment. I opened the door and she went inside. I dumped my bags and was taking off my shoes when she called me.
“Mum, who does this belong to?” She asked. I turned to see her playing with a golden retriever puppy.
“Errr, hang on a minute.” I said and walked into my bedroom. I called Harry and he picked up almost straight away.
“You home?” He asked.
“Yes. Why is there a puppy in my apartment?” I questioned.
“Urm, I got it for you. I know you’ve always wanted a dog and I thought why not get one for you now. As an apology,”
“Oh my god! I love you!” I squealed. I heard him laugh.
“I love you too. Now go play with your puppy. By the way, we only have to have two more boys now. The puppy is a boy.” He said. I laughed and thanked him for the puppy. I hung up and went back to Lis.
“The puppy is mine baby.” I told her.
“Really? What’s its name?” She said excitedly.
“Charlie, princess,”
“Hi Charlie,” She stroked him. I sat down with them and we played with it for a minute.
“When did you get him Mummy?”
“Today baby, do you want to come to the pet shop with me to get some stuff?”
“Yeahhhhh!” She said. I laughed. It’s amazing what a puppy does. We went back to my car and drove to the pet shop. We bought everything I’d need to own a dog and then went back home. I fed Charlie and then put him on his leash.
“Right, I’ve got to get you home now. Come on.” I said holding the leash. We went down to my car and I put Charlie and Lis in. I drove to Harry’s and got them both out of the car. Lis ran up the path and Charlie ran after her. I laughed and unlocked the door.
“Daddy! Mummy has a dog!” Lis jumped on him. I went in and shut the door.
“Really? What’s it called?” He asked looking at me and smiling.
“Charlie. It’s really cute. She brought him with her look!” Lis pointed.
“Awh, that is cute.” Harry said. I let go of Charlie’s leash and he ran to Harry jumping on him. Harry just laughed and put him back on the floor. “I’ll help you get the girls.” He got up from the sofa and we both went up the stairs.
“Thank you so much. I love him.” I hugged Harry on the landing. One of the doors opened and we pulled away straight away.
“Don’t bother. I know you’re together again.” Brooklyn said. I turned to her.
“How?” I questioned.
“So you are?!” She jumped up and down. I was just tricked by my 12 year old daughter.
“Oh my god,” I said and Harry laughed.
“You were just tricked by your own daughter.” He said. I hugged Brooke and she was laughing.
“I’m glad you are back together, please move back in.” She begged.
“I will eventually babe. Just not yet,” I replied and pulled away. She nodded and went downstairs. Harry and I went upstairs and got the twins.
“I can’t believe you were tricked by a 12 year old.” He laughed picking up Amelia. I picked up Freya and we both went back downstairs laughing.
“Charlie, boy, come here,” I whistled and he came over. I grabbed his leash and wrapped it round my wrist and then took Amelia from Harry. “I’ll see you soon.” I kissed him on the cheek. Brooklyn will have told the others about it by now. “Bye kids.” I waved picking up my car keys. Brooke opened the front door for me and I went to my car and put Freya, Amelia and Charlie in. I drove back to my apartment block and got the stroller out of the trunk. I put the twins into it and then went for a walk with them and Charlie. I met some fans and spoke to them for a while and then went back home. Just as I put my keys down my phone went off.

I put the twins on the floor and took Charlie off of his leash. The twins tried to grab him every time he went past and it was really funny. While I was waiting for a reply I changed his contact name again.

Of course I do. As long as I get sex when you’re meant to be at work :P xx
I laughed and replied.

Good luck with that. I’ll start packing and I’ll move back in when I’m done okay? Love you xx
I got the boxes out of the cupboard and started putting my stuff into them. I’ve been apart from Harry for too long. I’m so happy that I’m going to be back there.

I put my phone on the sofa and sorted out my DVDs into the box. I did basically the whole living room and then moved onto my bedroom. I packed my suitcases up again and then was too tired to do anything else so put the kids and Charlie to bed and went to bed myself. This has been a long day.

Notes

Awh they're back together! It's the 6th of November in the story now, just to let you know. I originally wanted to write more with Jacob in it but I just couldn't think of anything to write, it was too hard. So I rushed it and got them back together, will this be their happy ending? Or will everything go wrong again? Well only I know that, so you'll have to wait for the next update!
