Overworked

Maddie’s P.O.V
-3 months later-
I waddled around the house tidying up waiting for Harry to get back. He knows I’m not picking him up because I don’t want to be around paps. They’ve started to scare me quite a lot lately. The press found out about my pregnancy when I was about five months gone because I just couldn’t hide it anymore. I have another scan tomorrow. It’s currently the 20th of December. The house phone started to ring and Brooke answered it. “It’s Dad.” She gave it to me.
“Hey baby,” I spoke into the phone.
“I’m so sorry. The weather is so bad our flight has been cancelled. I promise I’ll make it back for Christmas somehow but it’s just not safe to fly at the moment.” He told me.
“W-what?” I asked.
“There is too much snow here; it’s not safe to fly so our flight has been cancelled. All of our team are trying their best to get us home but it’s not looking hopeful at the moment babe.”
“What about my scan?”
“Shit, I forgot about that. Baby I’m so sorry. It’s not my fault and if I could get back I would. You know what it’s like. I just can’t get back.”
“There are only 5 days until Christmas Haz; both our families are coming round, my family get here in 2 days.” I cried.
“I know baby. I’m so sorry. I’ll make it back for Christmas I promise. We’re all really upset about this.” He said.
“Just call me when you get a flight okay, I’ll see you soon. I love you.”
“I love you too gorgeous, and the kids. Bye.” He said and hung up. I put the phone back and went into the living room.
“Your dad’s flight has been cancelled guys. He can’t get back today because there is too much snow and it’s not safe to fly. He said he’s really sorry and he loves you all.” I told them.
“Is he going to be back for Christmas?” Lis asked.
“I don’t know baby. He said he was going to be but I’m not sure. They’re stuck there.” I said.
“Okay…” They all sat down and watched TV and a story came onto the news.
“All planes to and from Japan have been grounded and hundreds are left stranded as they try to get home to their families for Christmas. Five of these stranded are the One Direction boys who are desperately trying to sort out other arrangements to get home on time for Christmas. They have agreed to take some time to talk to us.” The camera turned onto the lads.
“Daddy!!” Lis shouted and I put my hand on my bump.
“We understand that you are all trying to get back to your families for Christmas, how important is this to you?”
“It’s really important to us. We all have kids and this is Zayn’s son’s first Christmas. We haven’t seen our families in about three months now and we just really want to get back to them.” Louis answered.
“Harry, your wife is pregnant, correct?”
“Yeah, she has a scan tomorrow and I’m not going to be able to make it. I just had to tell her and she sounded really upset. I hate to think what the kids are like right now.” Harry replied. I looked down at them and they were all crying.
“Guys come here.” I told them to sit on the couch. They sat down and I pulled them all in for a hug.
“Us 5 are going to get through this together okay, dad will get home for Christmas. He promised and he means it.” I said. They all nodded and went back to watching the TV. Paul went over and whispered something in Liam’s ear.
“They’ve found a way for us to get back so we’re going to have to go now. Sorry.” Liam said. The news reporter agreed and they all went to their suitcases and walked off behind their crew. I got a text and read it.

We will be back by tomorrow but go to your scan without me. I promise we’ll be back x
I smiled and told the kids who were really happy to hear about it.
“I’m going to go to sleep guys because I’m really tired but you’ll be okay right?” They all nodded and I went upstairs. Looking after 3 children on your own when you’re seven months pregnant is really hard and tiring. I got into bed and went to sleep.
I woke up at about 9am and the kids were playing downstairs. I got dressed and went down.
“Auntie Eleanor is going to look after you at her house okay?” I told them. They all nodded and then went next door. I got into my car and drove to the doctors. I looked at my phone whilst I was waiting.

Where’s your scan and what time? I might be able to get there, at the airport in London now x
I texted him back with the place and time hoping he would get here. I sat looking at the door for around 10 minutes.
“Maddie Styles?” The nurse called. I sighed and stood up following after her. I got to the room where the doctor was and the nurse left.
“How’ve you been Maddie?” He asked.
“Yeah I’ve been good. I’ve been quite tired but other than that.” I sat down on the bed.
“That’s great. That’s expected when you’re single-handedly looking after 3 children at 7 months pregnant. Now let’s do this scan.” He said. I lay down on the bed and pulled up my top. He picked up the gel and warned me about it being cold. He put it onto my swollen belly and I shivered. He wasn’t lying, it’s so cold. The nurse came back in.
“Sorry to disturb, there’s someone here.” She said opening the door wider. Harry walked in and I smiled at him.
“Hey, you got back.” I said.
“Yeah,” he sat down next to me and held my hand. The doctor ran the scanner thing over my stomach and we could see the baby on the screen. The doctor was pointing out the main bits to us when he noticed something different.
“I’ll, urm, I’ll be back in a minute.” He stood up and walked out. I held Harry’s hand tightly. What if something has happened to the baby? Harry stroked my arm as if to tell me it was going to be okay. The doctor came back with another doctor and ran the scanner back over my stomach.
“Yep, it definitely is.” The other doctor said and left the room.
“Well congratulations Mr + Mrs Styles, you’re having twins.” The doctor announced.

Twins! This was sooooo predictable I know but I wanted them to have a challenge, Christmas next! This will be my last update until Saturday because I leave for Spain tomorrow! Sorry! I love you guys and I hope you have a great Spring Break x
